Job Description:
Responsible for the daily weighing and packaging plan of leafy greens in a safe and efficient manner. Adheres to food safety protocols in all aspects of job requirements. Follows supervisor’s instructions in adhering to standardized practices and achieving required results.

Duties and responsibilities
• Adhere to all current SOP’s, procedures, inspections and quality requirements.
• Communicate with supervisor when irregularities with product or equipment occur.
• Fulfill daily harvest plan per supervisor’s instruction.
• Accurately record charts related to performed labor, inspection and results according to company and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.
• Operate Hand Pallet Jack
• Report food safety and quality problems to Supervisor, the SQF Practitioner or directly to Senior Management.

Qualifications

Working conditions

Employees will have some exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Often working near moving mechanical parts. There will be exposure to cleaning chemicals. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to constantly use hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as talk and hear. There is frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and on a rotating basis constantly lift up to 10 pounds. The employee should have clear correctable vision at close and distance range, as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.

The Food Safety & Quality team at BrightFarms is hiring a Food Safety & Quality Manager at our NEW Lorena, Texas greenhouse to lead the implementation of our food safety programs at the farm.

Specifically, you will:
• Effectively and efficiently manage production processes to ensure world class food safety standards
• Promote a food safety culture at the farm
• Manage and Collect routine EMP samples (water samples, swabs, product samples and media samples)
• Train and manage the Quality Management System with day-to-day operations of the greenhouse
• Oversee the sites pest control management system and conduct regular reviews
• Lead SQF site audits, internal audits, regulatory inspections and GMP inspections
• Manage sites supplier approval program
• Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions necessary to ensure safe and quality product is produced
• Perform food safety hazard analysis, update food safety plans, and participate in change management activities
• Standardize best practices and creates forms necessary to collect KPIs
• Maintain the digital food safety record keeping system, review records
• Be proficient in effectively communicating with employees throughout the organization
• Willingness and desire to assist in unrelated and/or unassigned tasks to ensure the effective operation of the Greenhouse
• Report food safety and quality problems to the GM or directly to Senior Management
• Complete other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate:
• Have a 4-year degree in a related discipline
• Have 4 - 8 years of related work experience in food safety and quality. Agricultural experience is a plus!
• Experience with GFSI auditing programs or FSMA regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication and can create documents such as standard operating procedures, training content, and work instructions that comply with applicable food regulations
• Exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, leadership skills, lead by example – set the highest possible standards for food safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and behavior
• Be detail oriented and data driven
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. PowerBI is a plus!

The Project Management Office team is looking to add a Construction Manager to oversee the construction site activities of the BrightFarms construction partners at one or more locations in the US to support the overall growth of the company. The first project location for this position is Macon, GA. It is expected construction will continue at this location until early 2025. It is expected the Construction Manager will be on site 5-6 days on average per week. The actual schedule, including home rotation, will be determined with the successful candidate. This position will report to the Director of Construction.

As the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site activities and ensuring the contract partners are adhering to their safety protocols, progressing according to schedules, managing potential change orders, and reporting on daily activities. BrightFarms currently employs the Design-Build contract model for site construction with our partners. The Design-Builder is responsible for full site control and installation. Your management of the site construction progress will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of greenhouse and business projects that contribute to our company's mission of giving more people access to the freshest, tastiest, cleanest, and most responsibly grown produce available.

Specifically, you will:
• Review all construction documents and specifications to develop a complete understanding of the project design, schedule, and cost drivers to be able to fully participate in, and add value to, all site discussions
• Attend all site daily and weekly construction update meetings with the Design-Builders and key subcontractors on site
• Participate in discussions with Design-Builder for issue resolution to offer your suggestions to keep the project on schedule and withing budget and act as the Owner’s representative in these discussions
• Document action items, accountable parties, and decisions made for the project record
• Immediately raise and document concerns over safety, progress, cost, etc. to the Design-Builder, Director of Construction, and BrightFarms Project Manager
• Verify Design-Builder is managing BrightFarms supplied equipment and material effectively
• Complete daily inspections of work completed (including photos) to ensure it meets quality standards
• Complete a Daily Construction Manager Status report documenting activity for the day, decisions made, delays or schedule gains, and any concerns addressed with the Design-Builder
• Provide daily tracking and updates for items that are being billed as allowance or T&M
• Verify versus submissions from Design-Builder
• Meet weekly with BrightFarms PM to review progress and concerns
• Review Design-Builder invoices to verify percentages billed and amount of work left to complete
• Represent BrightFarms with utilities, local officials, neighbors, as needed throughout the project
• Foster a safe and inclusive work environment
• In addition to the duties above, you may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the company

The ideal candidate has:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field
• 15+ years in construction management of large ($100M+) and complex projects

Our Agriculture and Science department is looking to add a Grower to our team. These jobs will be located at our greenhouse in Rochelle, IL. In this role you will help manage the greenhouse production of hydroponic baby greens and other crops for our operations throughout the U.S. In addition, the Growers will be trained to develop into more advanced roles at our existing and future facilities.

Specifically, you will:
• Manage all environmental controls of the greenhouse using Priva greenhouse environmental control software
• Work closely with BrightFarms Director of Agriculture to determine ideal computer set points and ensure proper conditions are achieved
• Control all parameters related to the maintenance of healthy and productive production ponds:
• fertility and pH management
• thermal management
• pond aeration
• pond sanitation
• pond mechanicals
• Ensure the product is free of insect pest and disease
• Work closely with the Director of Agriculture to develop, implement, and maintain a biologically based IPM program and any chemical applications required

• 4-year degree in horticulture and or related sciences

Job purpose / summary / objective

Oversees the warehouse and inventory and supplies product to the greenhouse as needed.

Duties / Responsibilities
• Maintain warehouse inventory and report when product reaches desired stock levels
• Deliver materials from warehouse to greenhouse as needed
• Receives inventory to the warehouse
• Load and unload trucks at the warehouse
• Uses pallet jack and forklift to maneuver product safely
• Maintains warehouse delivery and storage area to be clean, safe, and organized

Qualifications
• Valid Driver's License
• Clean driving record
• Experience operating pallet jack and forklift highly desirable
• Warehouse loading and/or inventory experience preferred
• Commercial vehicle experience a plus

Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required

Employees will have frequent exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Will spend the majority of time driving truck and performing the loading and unloading. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud. All safety gear will be provided, and expected to be used, for conditions involving extreme weather, noise, and chemical exposure.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to constantly use hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as talk and hear. Loading and Unloading trucks requires walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements are to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, often lift up to 25 pounds, and constantly lift up to 10 pounds. BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms.  We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with three new regional greenhouse hubs opening this year.  BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 4,500 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.

The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for performing various business critical tasks in the shipping, receiving, storage, and movement of materials used in a large scale greenhouse production facility. Typical inbound shipments will include packaging materials, growing inputs, and hazardous materials used in the cleaning process. Internal movement of goods will consist of staging the necessary materials used in daily production and storing finished goods before picking and creating customer orders. The Warehouse Associate will also be assisting in the disposal of organic/non-organic waste, and picking, wrapping, and labelling outbound shipments.

A forklift will be used extensively. All movements will be required to follow procedures efficiently in order to meet or exceed expectations in safety, food safety, and customer satisfaction. Computer equipment and software may be utilized in all aspects of this position.

The Warehouse Associate will also play a major role in performing inventory cycle counts and implementing inventory controls. They will keep a clean and safe working environment and inspect all equipment before use to maintain equipment and vehicles at a high standard. The associate must be able to communicate openly with supervisors and coworkers on any issues and be able to work with the team to implement and sustain process changes.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Performs all duties in compliance with plant rules and practices safety, conduct, sanitation, and good housekeeping.
• Demonstrate an operational excellence in shipping, receiving, and storing of materials.
• Achieve a high degree of customer satisfaction through proper auditing of materials received, shipped, and stored.
• Perform inventory cycle counts, verifications and reconciliations as required.
• Organize and maintain inventory and storage area.
• Ensure shipments and inventory transactions are accurate and recorded in a timely manner.
• Interface with 3PL providers to answer questions or solve problems.
• Maintain item records, documents, and utilize reports to project warehouse status in the system.
• Review and coordinate activities with other departments and leadership.
• Will keep the work area clean and perform housekeeping and sanitation on equipment
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED
• Experience operating powered equipment to load, unload and move materials.
• Knowledge of GMP/GWP
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, problem solving and decision making skills

At our greenhouse in Loudon, we grow more than 650,000 pounds of leafy greens per year for New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, and New York. We are currently in need of a Sanitation to support our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Daily/evening cleaning of machinery
• Assembling and dissembling specific machinery at the end of the product run.
• Perform all duties on the daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
• Follow protocols for food safe environment in accordance with sanitation SOP’s.
• Wear personal protective equipment required in the facility.
• Be able to get the job done with minimal supervision.
• Report safety hazards.

Experience, Skills and Abilities
• 1 year of related experience in a food manufacturing or agricultural environment preferred but not required.
• Great attendance and dedication to the craft – the team heavily depends on one another to be on time and accountable.
• Flexibility to work the hours necessary to meet the needs of BrightFarms which may include overtime hours, daily and/or weekend.
• Ability to follow instructions, cooperate and collaborate with all employees and management. Collaboration is key to keeping our team united.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, and lift up to 40lbs.
• Open to applicants who do not have a high school diploma/GED
