Perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, cleaning, and minor maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sufficient vision to be able to discriminate between colors, size, ant type of objects, be able to read printed material in a variety of lighting conditions both close and distant. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools, vehicles, and equipment. Must have sufficient strength, flexibility, and agility to work while crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, or reaching overhead for long periods of time. Must be able to stand on a variety of surfaces for long periods of time. Must be able to climb a variety of things such as stairs and ladders and be able to work at heights up to 20 feet. BHPS provides Utilization Management services to its clients. The Utilization Management Nurse performs daily medical necessity reviews. This position reports to the Director, Clinical Programs.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs concurrent utilization reviews (Acute, SNF, LTACH, ARF) and first level determination approvals for members using evidenced based guidelines, policies and nationally recognized clinical criteria and internal policies/procedures.
• Identifies potential Third-Party Liability and Coordination of Benefit Cases and notifies appropriate parties/departments.
• Ensure discharge (DC) planning at levels of care appropriate for the members needs, acuity and determine post-acute needs of member including levels of care, durable medical equipment, and post service needs to ensure quality and cost-appropriate DC planning.
• Provides referrals to Case management, Disease Management, and Quality Department as needed.
• Develop and review member centered documentation and correspondence reflecting determinations in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and identify potential quality of care issues, service or treatment delays and intervenes or as clinically appropriate.
• Triages and prioritizes cases and other assigned duties to meet required turnaround times.
• Prepares and presents cases to Medical Director (MD) for medical director oversight and necessity determinations. Communications determinations to providers and/or members in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Provides feedback to leadership on opportunities to improve appropriate level of care and medically necessity based on clinical policies and guidelines.
• Reviews member’s transfer or discharge plans to ensure a timely discharge between levels of care and facilities

Essential Qualifications
• licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing. Must retain active licensure throughout employment.
• in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• be able to work independently.
• to a high pace and changing environment.
• in Utilization Review process including benefit interpretation, contract language, medical and policy review.
• knowledge of URAC and NCQA.
• years’ experience in a UM team within managed care setting.
• years experience in clinical nurse setting preferred.
• Experience preferred.
