This course should present core concepts in geospatial analysis, helping students develop skills in posing... questions, examining pertinent data sources, and mapping spatial distributions. It should guide students to become proficient with basic GIS file management and vector operations and to become familiar with introductory raster operations, as well as with a variety of publicly available data sources. Ultimately, the course should build students’ critical understanding of spatial representation, especially in terms of data and analysis limitations and the impact of visualization choices. A renewal of the position for up to two additional years is possible pending a successful review of course evaluations and departmental staffing needs. Candidates must have a relevant Master’s degree (including Geography/Planning, etc.) and experience teaching and using GIS.
