The Teacher of General Business Studies assists with implementing the New Jersey Department of Education Core Curriculum Content Standards while providing a well-developed senior and junior high school level program in General Business Studies and Financial Literacy for classified pupils. Incorporates the organizations Mission, Values, and Service Standard Behavior guidelines in the fulfillment of all duties and responsibilities. Responsibilties: A day in the life of a Teacher of Business Studies at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: 1. Provide well-constructed General Business Studies lessons that meet the requirements and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Financial Literacy. 2. Lessons should have clearly stated objectives, builds on previous learning and relates to future lessons that contain a summary of key points. 3. Prepare lesson plans that reflect a logical sequence of learning objectives and activities that reflect the National and New Jersey State curriculum standards in General Business Studies and Financial Literacy. 4. Utilizes a variety of learning materials and activities and utilizes discussion and questioning techniques effectively. 5. Assesses and monitors students progress frequently and by appropriate means, feedback, and modifying the lesson as needed. 6. Reports accurate and relevant information regarding student progress and achievement at conferences, IEP meetings, drafts PLAAFPs, on report cards, on progress reports and to administrative staff as needed. 7. Participates in school-based committees in developing programming and curriculum for the students. 8. Provides clearly articulated behavioral expectations to students and provides students with feedback and reinforcement regarding their behavior. 9. Applies the school-wide behavior rewards program and behavioral contracts as directed. 10. Enforces school rules consistently and contributes to the maintenance of a safe and orderly environment. 11. Maintains constructive relationships with other staff members. 12. Maintains positive and appropriate relationships with students. 13. Seeks assistance from appropriate personnel whenever student related or school related problems occur. 14. Implements student-related intervention plans and other plans related to the daily operation of the program as directed by an administrator. 15. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 16. • Business Programs
• Ensure that the Business Management degree, Operations Management certificate, Accounting program, and business related certificates are consistently high-quality educational experiences for students. Responsibilities include reviewing course evaluations, supporting and evaluating instructors, and attending to issues that arise within cohorts.
• In collaboration with the WSB, direct academic assessments that are aligned with AACSB standards.
• Conduct continual reviews of business classes to ensure content is consistent with course and program objectives, ensuring continuity for the program model. Ensure that these programs are consistent with accreditation requirements, Whitworth’s mission and goals, and desired academic outcomes.
• Assess program’s marketability on a regular basis and work with dean of continuing studies to develop effective marketing strategies.
• Opportunity to teach Directed Readings and Leadership Topics workshops, as part of the business program curriculum
• Business Faculty
• Recruit adjunct faculty, authorize contract preparation, and address contractual issues in consultation with the deans of the School of Continuing Studies and Whitworth School of Business.
• Train, supervise and mentor new business adjunct faculty. Plan and participate in program orientation and support; ensure adjuncts understand and articulate clearly the goals and objectives for each course and confirm that those goals and objectives are consistent with departmental goals; read and approve all syllabi; and provide oversight of adjunct faculty by regular observation in the classroom, in consultation with appropriate academic department chair and dean as appropriate.
• Plan and lead periodic business program faculty meetings to review program and curriculum developments; coordinate and attend regular administrative planning meetings.
• Supervise course evaluation process for faculty, review evaluations and direct intervention strategies for faculty when problems arise or where training is needed.
• Business Students
• Supervise admissions criteria for business students, working with continuing studies advisors to selectively admit students that are academically and personally well-suited for success in the program.
• Secure and supervise internships in local organizations, supervise independent studies, and assist with career planning for business students.
• Conduct exit communication with all graduates upon completion of the program and conduct a first year follow up survey to complete the evaluation of student outcomes.
• Work with dean of SCS to develop and administer periodic alumni surveys to test student satisfaction.
• Campus and Community Representation
• Attend WSB faculty meetings, participates in departmental governance and acts as WSB liaison for both continuing-studies and business management students and adjunct faculty.
• Participate in marketing and recruitment efforts including public information sessions, education fairs, and business community contact; assist in assessing markets and strategic planning for current & future business-related programs.

Administrative leadership in the School of Continuing Studies | 25%
• Operations
• Assist the dean with revenue and expense analysis for the School of Continuing Studies.
• Participate in the SCS Advisory Board and its efforts to envision and support the future of the SCS.
• Student Services
• Participate in efforts to increase student well-being and improve student experience in the SCS.
• Assist with the management of student behavioral issues as needed, which may include student attendance, academic honesty issues, or student grievances.
• Campus and Community Representation
• Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with local organizations that align with the mission and goals of the SCS.
• Represent the university and participate in community organizations to promote Whitworth’s presence in the community.
