How does the 4-day 36-hour workweek work?

The normal work scheduled for all operations staff, including this Water System Operator position, is Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 4:30pm. Administrative staff work either a Monday through Thursday or a Tuesday through Friday schedule, such that our offices remain open 5-days per week.

No! When employees moved from a traditional 40-hour workweek to a 36-hour workweek at MPWD, they still earned the same annual compensation. Employees’ hourly pay rates were increased such that there was no change in annual pay. MPWD's annual salaries are highly competitive with other agencies in the area.

https://www.midpeninsulawater.org/workingatmpwd

For more information, refer to MPWD’s Personnel Manual and bargaining agreement: https://www.midpeninsulawater.org/personnelmanual Note, the Personnel Manual has not yet been updated to address the workweek change. Please direct any questions regarding the 4-day workweek or other benefits to View email address on calopps.org.

Is a 4-day 36-hour workweek available at other water agencies?

We are not aware of any other water agencies that offer a 4-day 36-hour workweek without reduced annual compensation. This is a truly unique and wonderful benefit of MPWD. We value our employees and their work-life balance, and we all work together to make sure that we provide the highest level of service to our community while taking care of our employees.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR INTEREST IN THE MPWD!
