Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose... of Position:
The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. Testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing. On-Call is required.
Essential Job Functions:
-Performs high quality diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations and adheres to exam protocols except when deviation is clinically necessary.
-Prepares patients for procedures, including explaining the procedure and providing instructions in order to obtain the desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize patient anxiety.
-Administers imaging enhancement agents in accordance with department policies.
-Administers imaging enhancement agents in accordance with department policies.
-Contacts referring physician (or other appropriate medical personnel) for clarification prior to performing an exam if there is a suspicion that the exam order is incorrect.
-Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reporting, and document any critical findings in accordance with department policy.
-Completes assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation.
-Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and adheres to the standards and policies set forth by the Corporate responsibility program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to Manager (or Corporate Responsibility line) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts of practice.

-Performs all other duties as assigned.
Certifications
BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
Education
Associates degree in a applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

Your Key Responsibilities:
• Accountable for building institutional advocacy around formulary adoption of cardiovascular brands to help drive appropriate utilization of approved products.
• Drive demand by developing, coordinating, and implementing a strategic business plan for identified top strategic hospitals within assigned cardiovascular academic and government institutions.
• Works with local partners to create and maintain strategically targeted institutional-specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces that influence product sales.
• Demonstrates expertise and knowledge of disease state, the marketplace, competitors, industry, and cross-functional activities/plans to anticipate and optimally complete business opportunities and challenges.
• Performs sales efforts by providing product and disease state presentations detailing approved clinical information to physicians and their staff, while building key business relationships within the Hospital, including key clinicians, administration personnel, and key influencers/decision-makers to network across organization and collaborate on initiatives where opportunities align.
• Lead cross-functional Area Team Meetings (ATMs) for the assigned hospital accounts, creating, implementing, and updating business plans to achieve product access and sales goals.
• Conduct periodic needs assessments with key customers to tailor and communicate customer insights and hospital-related activities to field-based and headquarters-based partners and engage with them to implement new strategies and tactics to pursue business opportunities.
• Provide support to Area Business Leaders in identifying key business opportunities and diagnosing critical business and implementation issues within assigned hospitals and surrounding markets/landscape.

Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and an integral part of the Tufts University Medical School. The position involves teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program. The successful candidate would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
