Experience

1.6.4 The music director shall coordinate all special music to be performed at each service with the Catholic Priest. This includes solos, duets, adult choir, children’s choir, guest choirs, and guest musicians.
1.6.5 The music director shall identify, submit, and coordinate Chapel Tithes and Offering Fund (CTOF) budget requests to support the music program to the Catholic Priest. The music director will purchase approved items in accordance with local operating procedures.
2.0 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES
2.1 The music director shall coordinate with the Catholic Musician for all liturgical celebrations
2.2 The music director shall ensure all audio/visual equipment (microphones, stands etc.) are setup and tested prior to each performance.
2.3 The music director shall monitor the condition of choir equipment and advise the Superintendent, Chapel Operations of any problems or needs.
2.4 The music director shall ensure the choir area is left clean after use by removing audio/visual equipment and restoring area to original configuration.
2.5 The music director shall submit facility requests as required for rehearsals and special services.
2.6 The music director shall open and secure the chapel facility used for choir activities when chapel staff members are not on duty as well as be responsible for the cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with the program/event.
2.7 The music director shall maintain familiarity with current trends in worship.
2.8 The music director shall participate in at least one continuing education or professional development event each year, when appropriated funds or Chapel Tithes and Offering Funds (CTOF) are available.
2.9 The Wing Chaplain or designee (Superintendent, Chapel Operations), will monitor and inspect the music director’s performance.

Reports to: School Principal
Work Schedule Status: Part-time (unbenefited) position; 2-3 days per week.
The teacher will work each Monday - Friday that classes are in session as per a schedule developed by the Principal.

Instructional Expectations
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the PE Teacher will:
-Serve as a positive role model and support the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church at all times.
-Create a faith-focused learning environment in his or her classroom or teaching area.
-Create a vibrant Catholic culture in his or her classroom that is emphasized through the candidate's words, deeds, and actions
-Facilitate student success and growth in academics and interpersonal skills
-Develop and administer diocesan PE curriculum consistent with diocesan goals and objectives.
-Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences that best utilize the available time for PE instruction.
-Incorporate age-appropriate learning activities.
-Conduct ongoing assessment of student skills and learning in artistic techniques and expression, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
-Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
-Evaluate each pupil's performance and growth in PE, and prepare progress reports and report-card grades.
-Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in art by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
-Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by school and diocesan procedures and applicable laws.
-Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
-Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and diocesan policies.
-Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
-Coordinate with other school professional staff members, and actively participate in faculty meetings and on school committees.
-Understand and follow all tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
-Maintain a lifestyle that is in full accord with Church teachings, both within and outside of the school environment.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and Catholic Schools Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

• Knowledge of current instructional teaching methods and educational pedagogy in the area of physical education.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
The candidate must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
An endorsement in PE is preferred, but is not required.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful teaching experience at the elementary (PS-8) grade levels is a plus.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills are essential to success.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time (unbenefited) position at 2-3 days per week. Work hours may not exceed 29 hours per week.
