The Role You'll Play

The Strategic Accounts team lands-and-expands CB Insight s largest global accounts through an account-based sales and service motion. This account-based model is grounded in a collaborative Strategic Account Executive (SAE), Strategic Account Manager (SAM), and Sales Development Representative (SDR) partnership that prioritizes long-term client growth. This team drives incredible retention and growth outcomes with our most important and complex client relationships.

The Sr. Director, Strategic Sales is responsible for inspiring, developing and engaging a high potential team of Strategic Account Executives (SAEs). In addition, this person will be relied on to build and evolve growth strategies, expanding the impressive multi-year growth trajectory of the firm.

Your Main Tasks
• Lead a team of 7-10 Strategic Account Executives (SAEs) in acquiring net new logo and expansion business within the top 1000 accounts (G1000).
• Coach & Develop - Partner with Sales Enablement to ensure relevant and successful training and development across the entire team
• Coach & Develop - Craft and implement individualized development plans for each team member, to capitalize on successes and address skill development
• Coach & Develop - Leverage your extensive experience to spread knowledge to the team on enterprise selling best practices
• Management & Oversight - Ensure team is meeting internal targets regarding training, documentation, and processes; provide and/or clarify important priorities & timelines

What You Bring To The Table
• Minimum of 8 years experience in enterprise software sales; at least 4 years experience experience with SaaS sales a MUST
• 2+ years demonstrated success leading a team of new business Account Executives to achieve a minimum total quota of $5M+
• A successful track record of managing challenging customer purchasing dynamics, achieving individual and team quotas
• Deep preference for Challenger and MEDDICC/MEDPICC sales methodologies
• Preferred knowledge of corporate innovation, corporate strategy, corporate venture capital and/or M&A functions
• Bachelor's degree required
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required

Please note this is a US-based role.

Base compensation band: $199,800 (Min), $222,000 (Hiring Target), $228,000 (Max)

This role is also eligible for commission in addition to the base salary.

What you bring to the table:
• BS or BA in business, finance, economics or similar study (or relevant experience). MBA preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of quota-carrying success in strategic account management and/or customer success, within enterprise software or SaaS. Must have experience with F500/Global2000 clients.
• Solid background managing complex negotiations and contracts renewals.
• Salesforce, Clari and/or other equivalent systems fluency needed.

Are you a junior attorney at a decently sized firm who loves lawyering but not the billing in 6-minute increments part? (If you are just SICK of people asking if you’ve ever watched the show “Suits,” that is a plus).

Or perhaps you are currently languishing in-house for a hierarchical department that promised a seat at the table, but in reality, it’s just another law firm role?

You must be organized, in fact, obsessively organized as there is a lot of work to get done. We are growing rapidly, and you will be on the front lines to assist in this growth and help us ensure we stay in order. Attention to detail is not simply a preferred qualification.

Most importantly, are you someone who can also be a good business partner and team player? Our team supports and works with Sales, Engineering, Product, Marketing, People, you get the picture. We need someone who can delicately and successfully balance the binary-lawyer and ad-hoc business relationship and resulting decisions. In other words, this is not a typical or traditional role, but will be supremely interesting and challenging (full disclosure – notwithstanding the foregoing, there will be lots of the traditional lawyer work as well, don’t you worry).

What will you be doing out of the gate? Learning quickly. Also, helping CBI (safely) grow and expand. But at first, you will begin to take over basic contract negotiations, navigate onerous privacy requirements as they arise, assist in IP-related work, perform various research related to various matter (ha!), work with legal ops to get our contract management system in place for client and vendor contracts.

Note, if you are a recent law school graduate with a strong background in project management or operations that didn’t land at a large, snooty firm for whatever reason, we can talk. We don’t care if you are from a second or third “tier” school – if you are a capable person who can write, think, and scrap intelligently, we can teach you the rest pretty quickly.

Your Main Tasks

What You Bring To The Table

Your Main Tasks
• Actively manage a portfolio of 20-30 assigned mid-market accounts so that customers may achieve their positive business outcomes via CB Insights' software & services. Portfolio averages $1.5M ARR.
• Drive customer software engagement & development of power users across customer organizations.
• Implement Customer Success Plans for assigned accounts.
• Collaborate with CB Insights' business development team to expand customer relationships.
• Run the renewal process for assigned portfolio of accounts.
• Maintain communication & governance protocols across customer & CB Insights' teams.
• Effectively solve ad-hoc customer issues as needed.
• Bring to bear predictive renewal analytics to identify customer expansion opportunities & churn risks.
• Collaborate with Marketing to demonstrate customer communication campaigns.
• Provide continuous customer feedback to CB Insights' Product team.
• Stay current & educate customers on CB Insights' products, competitive landscape & innovation trends.
• Embrace & contribute to Customer Success team standard methodologies.
What You Bring To The Table
• B.S. or B.A. in business management, finance, economics or similar study. MBA preferred.
• Validated results in prior role.
• At least 3 years of prior account management and/or customer success experience, preferably within enterprise software or SaaS.
• Expertise with Excel and CRMs, preferably Salesforce.
• Proficiency communicating data via Excel, Salesforce and other business intelligence tools.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Base compensation band: $81,000 (Min), $90,000 (Hiring Target), $103,500 (Max)

This role is also eligible for commission in addition to the base salary.

A little bit about our pay practices: Typically, we will hire at our Hiring Target, but actual starting pay may be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation, candidate experience, and budgetary constraints.
