Candidates should be strongly interested in public policy or political science and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively handling multiple tasks and completing projects under tight deadlines. Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required. Previous experience in journalism, media relations, or public affairs is desirable, as are familiarity with and interest in social media.
Salary and Benefits
The hourly rate will be between $21 and $28 and will be commensurate with educational attainment and related experience. The selected candidate would be expected to provide in-person communications support for meetings and events. Will consider current students who can work a part-time schedule between February and May (up to 32 hours). The selected candidate would be expected to work full-time during the summer. This is a temporary position that will not exceed one year.

As a member of CBO's executive staff, the Director of Budget Analysis works closely with CBO's Director and other CBO leaders on strategic planning and agencywide management priorities. The Director of Budget Analysis oversees the division's input to, and reviews of, other CBO products. For example, analysts in the division often prepare estimates of the effects of various policy options for reports prepared by other divisions and help review those reports.
The Director of Budget Analysis is responsible for carefully reviewing the division's work to ensure high-quality analysis and effective communication of results. That analysis encompasses the full scope of the federal government's programs and activities. Another critical responsibility is working closely with Congressional committees and House and Senate leadership staff to identify what estimates they need and when and to set priorities for the division's work so that estimates and other products are available for Congressional deliberations.
