The department offers a variety of Sociology courses and serves Sociology AA-T degree students, transfer majors, GE transfer students and supports students in vocational certificate programs. Successful candidates may be assigned to teach any of the courses in our curriculum which may include in-person, online or off-campus instruction to high school students enrolled in the Cerritos College Dual-Enrollment Program.
Job Duties
ALL FACULTY SHALL:
• Maintain currency with current information, concepts, laws and ideas in their disciplines and with best practices in teaching and learning.
• Check mailbox, voicemail, and e-mail regularly.
• Complete the checkout form before leaving campus at the end of the academic term.
• Maintain student confidentiality as required by regulation and Board Policy 5040 titled Student Records and Directory Information.
ALL FACULTY WHO ARE ASSIGNED CLASSES SHALL:
• Teach all assigned classes unless excused under provisions of Board Policy.
• Teach all assigned classes for all scheduled minutes. In cases of necessary absence from class, notify the Instructional Dean or designee, or if unavailable, the Office of Academic Affairs in advance and have plans prepared so that a substitute, if assigned, can maintain continuity of course content.
• Teach courses in accordance with the course outlines of record.
• Provide opportunities for students to be aware of their progress.
• Submit a copy of the syllabus for each class to the Division Office.
• Keep accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress and submit them to appropriate offices by the published deadlines.
• Submit end-of-session grades, including supporting documentation, and attendance reports by the published deadlines.
• Submit required information about first-day, no-show students by the published deadlines.
• Submit textbook order information by the published deadlines. If the textbook is electronic or includes an electronic course pack, these conditions must be met:

• Attend first-year and second-year staff development workshops during the first and second years of employment at Cerritos College.
• Attend department and division meetings.
• Attend commencement ceremonies.
• Assist the Department Chairperson and Instructional Dean in unit planning, budget preparation, and inventory.
• Develop and implement a “Flex Plan” as required by state regulations.
• All full-time faculty who are assigned classes shall: Post and maintain at least three scheduled office hours per week on at least three different days, including the final examination period. Office hours may not be scheduled between 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.ALL FACULTY WHO ARE ASSIGNED CLASSES SHALL:

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in any field of engineering

(NOTE: A Bachelor's degree in any field of engineering with a professional engineer's license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
Understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of the student, community, and employee population.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching a culturally diverse student body, including historically underserved/underrepresented and/or non-traditional students, with the goal of reducing and eliminating equity gaps
• Interest in, commitment to, and enthusiasm for working as a member of a team, committed to excellence in lower-division engineering instruction
• Successful engineering teaching experience at the community college or university level, with a preference for undergraduate, lower-division engineering courses
• Experience teaching introductory engineering courses, including (but not limited to): engineering graphics, engineering programming (e.g., MATLAB), circuits (with lab), statics, dynamics, materials science, and/or strength of materials
• Experience teaching both lectures AND labs in multiple modalities, including traditional on-campus courses as well as hybrid and online
• Experience using technology in teaching engineering
• Proficiency in using engineering laboratory equipment
• Ability to innovate curriculum and to design new and appropriate laboratory experiments

The Enrollment Services division consists of Admissions &
Records, Financial Aid, and School Relations programs and services
that meet the needs of a diverse student population. The division
offers high touch services and is primarily responsible for
providing outreach in the community, applications for admissions
and financial aid, placement, enrolling students, disbursing
financial aid, collecting payments, processing grades, evaluating
records for graduation, certificates and transfer, and providing
official transcripts.
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Enrollment Services,
the School Relations Coordinator will foster professional working
relationships with K-12 partners and community agencies, assist
students with admission applications, financial aid applications
and provide information and deliver presentations on campus and in
the community to current and prospective students, faculty and
staff, parents, high school counselors, community organizations and
other colleges and educational institutions. The School Relations
Coordinator represents the college, division at events, such as
college and job fairs, orientation programs, community events and
outreach events.
Distinguishing Career Features
The School Relations Coordinator is a specialized position for
promoting the College and its programs to maximize student
enrollment. This position requires the ability to identify
potential students and student populations, prepare and present
formal presentations to prospective students, organize events and
conferences that promote the College, and develop promotional
materials.
Summary
Coordinates, facilitates, and conducts student recruitment
activities for academic, vocational, and non-credit programs by
coordinating, participating, and assisting in special events,
community activities, presentations, and visits to schools.
Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Establishes an annual plan and schedule of recruitment and
outreach activities and events designed to maximize contact with
potential students. Works with faculty and staff to develop
communications strategies for specific programs.
• Serves as a college representative and liaison to local
schools, community organizations, businesses and government. Serves
as a representative for college departments who want to communicate
and promote their programs to prospective students and the
community.
• Coordinates special events involving speakers, special topics,
site, and support services. Arranges and sequences logistics and
contracted services that support events. Prepares and delivers
presentations to prospective students and organizations.
• Oversees design and original layout for promotional materials,
taking into consideration the intended message, audience, and the
need to integrate text, graphics, and artwork. Confers with other
College staff to coordinate the production of printed
materials.
• Prepares presentation materials that support public speaking
engagements such as overheads, pictures, charts, and graphs.
• Participates in, and may coordinate and/or prepare certain
aspects of newsletters and other internal and external publications
describing events, activities, and giving feature stories.
• Participates in, and may conduct advertising media
purchases.
• Conducts research of student and adult population demographics
and interests to enhance presentations and optimize recruitment
activities. Works with institutional researchers to identify and
understand trends.
• Provides support to and may coordinate activities connected
with grant proposals and when approved, promoting grant provisions
and opportunities to faculty, staff, and students, especially those
in special populations.
• Coordinates and conducts tours of the college campus.

produces materials suitable for public distribution.
• Participates in, and may coordinate fund raising activities
that support special events, promotional materials, and

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
The position requires an a Bachelor's Degree in English,
journalism, public relations, marketing communications, or related
field and 2 years of experience in public relations, marketing, or
communications capacity. Additional relevant experience combined
with an Associates degree may substitute for some higher
education.

Knowledge and Skills
The position requires working knowledge of promotional and
marketing communications principles, methods, and formats. Requires
a working knowledge of, and skill at sequencing the logistics
involved in organizing marketing/communications action plans,
special events involving supporting activities, fund-raising and

Requires proofreading and editing skills to review educational and
promotional materials. Requires a working knowledge of
computer-aided office productivity tools including but not limited

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, REVOLVE includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.
A reasonable estimate of the current base hourly/salary range is $52,000 per year to $62,400 per year.

The Division of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (SEM) is committed to promoting equity, providing service excellence, and ensuring student success as we guide students in investigating and understanding the world in which we live. The Division offers degree programs, certificates, and courses in a variety of disciplines across six departments biology; chemistry; computer and information sciences; Earth sciences; mathematics; and physics, astronomy, and engineering. The Division's rigorous programs of study prepare students to seamlessly transfer into a four-year course of study or to successfully start a career in the workforce. Programs and courses are offered in a variety of formats, including traditional on-campus, hybrid, and fully online sections. In addition to courses at our main campus in Norwalk, we offer classes at multiple educational sites in the area. The SEM Division provides effective, experiential learning environments in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics at the highest standards by using the latest technology in our state-of-the-art laboratories and learning spaces.
The main focus of the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering is to serve students on a transfer pathway to a four-year college or university. With four full-time and numerous part-time faculty, we provide lectures and labs to students from a variety of majors, from physics and engineering to health professions, architecture, and psychology. We are currently housed in a modern building, complete with a large array of equipment in an expanded stock room. We have a classroom set of student telescopes and a rooftop viewing area. A full-time lab technician provides support and assistance with instructional equipment.

The main focus of the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering is to serve students on a transfer pathway to a four-year college or university. With four full-time and numerous part-time faculty, we provide lectures and labs to students from a variety of majors, from physics and engineering to health professions, architecture, and psychology. We are currently housed in a modern building, complete with a large array of equipment in an expanded stock room. We have a classroom set of student telescopes and a rooftop viewing area. In cases of necessary absence from class, notify the Instructional Dean or designee, or if unavailable, the Office of Academic Affairs in advance and have plans prepared so that a substitute, if assigned, can maintain continuity of course content.
Teach courses in accordance with the course outlines of record.
Provide opportunities for students to be aware of their progress.
Submit a copy of the syllabus for each class to the Division Office.
Keep accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress and submit them to appropriate offices by the published deadlines.
Submit end-of-session grades, including supporting documentation, and attendance reports by the published deadlines.
Submit required information about first-day, no-show students by the published deadlines.

Department Profile
The Enrollment Services division consists of Outreach, Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, and Placement programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse student population. The division offers high touch services and is primarily responsible for providing outreach in the community, applications for admissions and financial aid, placement, registering students, disbursing financial aid, collecting payments, processing grades, evaluating records for graduation, certificates and transfer, providing official transcripts and enforcing regulations and deadlines.
Under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Assistant Director, the Financial Aid Specialist will assist students with financial aid applications, forms and the eligibility process for financial aid programs; review student financial aid records to determine eligibility for packaging and disbursement of financial aid programs; and follow federal and state regulations including Return to Title IV, cash management, disbursements, reconciliations, etc. The Financial Aid Specialist may also provide workshops, orientations, and assist with other technical and clerical functions.

Performs a variety of office leadership and technical duties related to advising on, assisting with, and packaging student loans and other financial aid programs for final approval. Organizes and prioritizes workload. Analyzes, researches, and resolves problems connected with financial aid. Coordinates data transmission to and from funding agencies.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work and projects to team members within Financial Aid. Trains and provides quality reviews of work performed in the department.
• Monitors Federal and State accounts in accordance with regulations to ensure financial aid funds are accurately drawn and deposited into accounts and to prevent excess awards. Monitors program fund accounts to ensure students are not awarded more than their allocation.
• Transmits Federal individual payment summaries to the U.S. Department of Education in accordance with mandated Federal deadlines.
• Establishes processes for student applications, including arrangements for transcripts and other information. Orients and advises students and prospective students concerning the financial aid programs. Explains complex policies and procedures.
• Reviews and evaluates financial aid applications to determine accuracy, completeness and financial need level. Uses Federal Methodology need-analysis criteria for review. Performs any required follow-up procedures to get additional information, correct errors or elicit more in-depth data from applicants.
• Researches and resolves identified conflicts by utilizing various external databases to review prior loan histories and financial information.
• Verifies application data for accuracy. Compares FAFSA data with verification documents (104B, Worksheets, W-2s etc.). Corrects information on a financial or student database, performs needs analysis, and prepares computer files for processing.
• Sets up financial aid packaging parameters that other staff members can follow to establish award levels. Packages and determines award levels within established guidelines. Communicates award levels to students, sets up accounts along with disbursement and payment dates, and receives and allocates award funds from grantors.
• Grants financial aid awards, including determining levels, confirming resources, and awarding funds within pre-existing parameters. Certifies and signs loan promissory notes and send to appropriate bank for processing. For FFELP, creates loan origination records for eligible students, enters information into databases, and monitors responses and data from Federal loan origination centers.
• Ensures departmental fund accountability and integrity for audit purposes that contributes to the District having continuing eligibility to participate in Federal and State programs.
• Provides one-on-one advising for students, parents, or others regarding financial aid issues, procedures to award, reasons for denial or lack of eligibility, deadlines, petition processes and other relevant issues.
• May provide partial leadership over certain aspects of the day-to-day office operations by organizing and prioritizing workload, reviewing applications and awards for accuracy and compliance, and reviewing financial aid budget projections.
• Assists applicants in accurately completing the various forms required for financial aid. Resolves problems with applications and/or financial aid checks.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems associated with financial aid application status, award levels, student information, communications among separate computer systems, and data integrity. Updates data, rate, and award tables.
• Administers delinquent and default loan procedures. Receives information from the Department of Education and other sources, including internal reports, verifies account balances and student status, and initiates written contact with students. Works with students to restore current account status.
• Maintains financial aid records to support preparation of financial aid reports for various grant and loan disbursements. Monitors and revises budgets and awards as necessary to prevent over spending of awards.
• Extracts and imports information from financial aid databases to support reporting and auditing. Updates tables in databases to reflect current rates and schedules.
• Troubleshoots problems accessing, storing, manipulating, remitting, and extracting data to and from financial aid and student databases.
• Maintains currency of knowledge and skills related to the duties and responsibilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
The position requires an Associate's degree and three years of progressively responsible student financial aid experience. Comparable related work experience may substitute for some post-secondary education.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of student financial aid administration experience with the following:
• Administering financial aid program(s) with supervision/lead experience
• Awarding financial aid to students in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines
• Demonstrated expertise in identifying and analyzing complex compliance and system processing issues
• Experience with PeopleSoft integrated financial aid system

Department Profile
The Enrollment Services division consists of Outreach, Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, and Placement programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse student population. The division offers high touch services and is primarily responsible for providing outreach in the community, applications for admissions and financial aid, placement, registering students, disbursing financial aid, collecting payments, processing grades, evaluating records for graduation, certificates and transfer, providing official transcripts and enforcing regulations and deadlines.
Under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Assistant Director, the Financial Aid Specialist will assist students with financial aid applications, forms and the eligibility process for financial aid programs; review student financial aid records to determine eligibility for packaging and disbursement of financial aid programs; and follow federal and state regulations including Return to Title IV, cash management, disbursements, reconciliations, etc. The Financial Aid Specialist may also provide workshops, orientations, and assist with other technical and clerical functions.

Performs a variety of office leadership and technical duties related to advising on, assisting with, and packaging student loans and other financial aid programs for final approval. Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work and projects to team members within Financial Aid. Trains and provides quality reviews of work performed in the department.
• Monitors Federal and State accounts in accordance with regulations to ensure financial aid funds are accurately drawn and deposited into accounts and to prevent excess awards. Monitors program fund accounts to ensure students are not awarded more than their allocation.
• Transmits Federal individual payment summaries to the U.S. Department of Education in accordance with mandated Federal deadlines.
• Establishes processes for student applications, including arrangements for transcripts and other information. Orients and advises students and prospective students concerning the financial aid programs. Explains complex policies and procedures.
• Reviews and evaluates financial aid applications to determine accuracy, completeness and financial need level. Uses Federal Methodology need-analysis criteria for review. Performs any required follow-up procedures to get additional information, correct errors or elicit more in-depth data from applicants.
• Researches and resolves identified conflicts by utilizing various external databases to review prior loan histories and financial information.
• Verifies application data for accuracy. Compares FAFSA data with verification documents (104B, Worksheets, W-2s etc.). Corrects information on a financial or student database, performs needs analysis, and prepares computer files for processing.
• Sets up financial aid packaging parameters that other staff members can follow to establish award levels. Packages and determines award levels within established guidelines. Communicates award levels to students, sets up accounts along with disbursement and payment dates, and receives and allocates award funds from grantors.
• Grants financial aid awards, including determining levels, confirming resources, and awarding funds within pre-existing parameters. Certifies and signs loan promissory notes and send to appropriate bank for processing. For FFELP, creates loan origination records for eligible students, enters information into databases, and monitors responses and data from Federal loan origination centers.
• Ensures departmental fund accountability and integrity for audit purposes that contributes to the District having continuing eligibility to participate in Federal and State programs.
• Provides one-on-one advising for students, parents, or others regarding financial aid issues, procedures to award, reasons for denial or lack of eligibility, deadlines, petition processes and other relevant issues.
• May provide partial leadership over certain aspects of the day-to-day office operations by organizing and prioritizing workload, reviewing applications and awards for accuracy and compliance, and reviewing financial aid budget projections.
• Assists applicants in accurately completing the various forms required for financial aid. Resolves problems with applications and/or financial aid checks.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems associated with financial aid application status, award levels, student information, communications among separate computer systems, and data integrity. Updates data, rate, and award tables.
• Administers delinquent and default loan procedures. Receives information from the Department of Education and other sources, including internal reports, verifies account balances and student status, and initiates written contact with students. Works with students to restore current account status.
• Maintains financial aid records to support preparation of financial aid reports for various grant and loan disbursements. Monitors and revises budgets and awards as necessary to prevent over spending of awards.
• Extracts and imports information from financial aid databases to support reporting and auditing. Updates tables in databases to reflect current rates and schedules.
• Troubleshoots problems accessing, storing, manipulating, remitting, and extracting data to and from financial aid and student databases.
• Maintains currency of knowledge and skills related to the duties and responsibilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
The position requires an Associate's degree and three years of progressively responsible student financial aid experience. Comparable related work experience may substitute for some post-secondary education.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of student financial aid administration experience with the following:
• Administering financial aid program(s) with supervision/lead experience
• Awarding financial aid to students in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines
• Demonstrated expertise in identifying and analyzing complex compliance and system processing issues
• Experience with PeopleSoft integrated financial aid system
• Experience with Return of Title IV federal regulations.

Grade 36 on District Classified Salary Schedule ($4,754.19 -$5,717.57/month).

Conditions of Employment
This is a full-time, 12-calendar month categorically funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon funding and the provisions of the CSEA
Hours of employment are:
Monday thru Thursday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Initial placement of employees on Classified Salary schedule is at Step 1. After six months of successful probationary employment, employee is placed at Step 2.
