Who we are:
The City of Chandler Management Services Department consists of 71.625 full time equivalents (FTE) and includes Administration, Accounting, Budget, Purchasing, Central Supply, Tax and License, Utility Services, and Environmental Management. The Environmental Management Division consists of 5 positions and provides environmental (air, water, storm water and waste) compliance guidance and oversight to City operations and facilities. This includes management of the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Permit, review environmental due diligence for property acquisitions, maintain central environmental compliance files, and manage clean-up activities when environmental spills occur on City property and report to the proper regulatory agency.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking to fill a vacancy in the Environmental Management Division of the Management Services Department. This person will provide City departments and divisions with complex technical and compliance advice regarding environmental regulations and issues and maintain, develop and implement environmental programs and projects to ensure compliance with Federal, State, County and Local regulations, with an emphasis on storm water compliance. Work includes aiding in developing plans to assure compliance, reviewing and updating storm water permits, code compliance, public education and outreach, and serving as regulatory agency liaison for compliance issues, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Conservation and Management or a related field; and four (4) years of experience with regulatory compliance or environmental management activities; and a valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Desired Qualifications:
• Previous experience in municipal government setting;
• Storm water Permit implementation in an MS4 environment, including the monitoring, evaluating and developing best management practices;
• 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification;
• Certified Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Specialist Certification
