About Us
We’re in the middle of a growing behavioral health crisis we can’t ignore, especially when it comes to our children. Today 1 in 5 children has a behavioral health need, yet up to 80% still get little or no help. Brightline is here to change all of that...
We’re on a mission to build a bright future for every child. We’re convening a team of leading clinicians, technologists, business leaders, and creative thinkers to completely transform what behavioral health care looks like. Together, we’re building exceptional technology and real-world care to bring families a warm, supportive, and goal-oriented experience of care that will help them thrive.
Founded in 2019, Brightline is the leading comprehensive behavioral health platform for families, backed by $215M in funding from leading investors, including Oak HC/FT and Threshold Ventures. As we grow quickly across the country, we’re looking for exceptional team members who, like us, are eager to transform behavioral health in this country and change lives.
About The Role
We’re rapidly growing our marketing team as we bring exceptional care to families across the country. We’re looking for an experienced Chief Marketing Officer to lead a team charged with building a category-defining brand and driving Brightline’s growth with families, employers, and health plans nationwide.
As our head of marketing, you will lead a high-performing marketing team owning the full marketing scope, including Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Commercial Enablement, Brand and Creative, Website and Digital, and Press. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to effectively conceive, plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns with a focus on the member acquisition engine across all growth channels, including employer, health plans, and new channels. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned business and people leader with a demonstrated history of building and managing exceptional marketing teams and initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Growth marketing: You will drive member acquisition growth across channels, including B2B/Enterprise marketing and demand generation and B2B2C growth marketing from activation and enrollment to engagement over time.
• In addition to driving growth strategies and execution, you will ensure your team has strong working relationships with the various cross-functional teams involved in growth to build a superior growth machine working in lockstep to achieve the company’s goals
• Brand and Creative: You will manage a growing team of marketers focused on building Brightline’s brand style, voice, and tone, as well as building and running Brightline creative team. You will lead (in partnership with our research team) the ongoing evolution of Brightline’s key member personas and other critical research insights that influence our marketing strategy and tactics. You will shape and lead the launch of a new breakthrough category.
• Digital/Web: You have experience with managing outside contractors/agencies to build thoughtful website experiences, social media presence, and SEO strategies aligned with the business priorities and customer/member personas.
• Press and Thought Leadership: You act as a close partner to the CEO to stay ahead of the curve on thought leadership Brightline should be driving, the press messages we should embed in the marketing, and in managing our internal and external press resources.
• Product Marketing and Commercial Enablement: You support our product marketing team to drive outsized value for our commercial and product teams through commercial briefing and positioning, competitive intelligence, product naming, and a myriad of other commercial needs to drive commercial progress.
• Team Management:
• You are great at helping your team members with priorities, strategic tradeoffs, and aligning on integrated comms across the team
• You establish and manage a strategic end-to-end planning process — including budgeting, identifying goals, scoping and shaping team priorities, and defining measures of success — that aligns marketing resources and priorities with company-wide OKRs and Commercial goals.
• You develop a rigorous measurement framework, including goals and KPIs, to assess the return on marketing investment across B2B and B2B2C marketing programs.
• You help build and foster strong relationships and collaboration across your team and between your team and their cross-functional partners
• You coach and develop your team members to help them grow and flourish in their roles
• You’re thoughtful about how to help your team know what needs that extra bit of polish, and what’s good enough
• Executive Scope and Leadership:
• You will act as a key member of the executive team, translating strategy into marketing team goals, working closely with the Chief Product Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, CEO, and Chief Care Delivery Officer to unlock value for the business
• You will partner closely with the commercial sales teams to unlock new channels and create the resources need to enable adoption and channel penetration
• You will own meaningful KPIs for the business including member acquisition and enrollment, which are key revenue drivers for Brightline.
About You
• You are not afraid of carrying very meaningful business KPIs that are high visibility for the senior executive team (in partnership with your peers and team)
• You’re at a stage in your career where you are able to flex between the strategic and the tactical. You can look at the future and anticipate the next wave of thought leadership and storytelling that we need to own, but also sit down and review enrollment metrics or SEO trend data and engage on tactical next steps with the team.
• You will have a team under you, but also will need to be able to get your hands dirty and build your own update documents/roadmaps/budgets (with support).
• We are a remote-first company so a few things matter:
• You’re nimble on Gdocs and slack and are fluent in using those (or ok to learn it!)
• You have fantastic communications and presence over zoom to manage teams, influence work plans, deliver ideas
• You need to be able to travel to be in Exec Offsites quarterly and also to convene your remote team quarterly
• You need to have executive presence to present in Board meetings and with investors
• 10+ years of senior marketing leadership experience, ideally as head of marketing / CMO at a rapidly growing digital health brand with a focus on B2B2C growth.
• Proven success as a manager, leader, and coach/mentor with success in hiring and fostering the growth of your team.
• Exposure to substantial and significant scale. Experience operating and leading a marketing organization where the business is generating $50M+ in revenue and growing quickly.
• Deep knowledge of how to use digital & offline channels and tools to build a brand, customer base, and community-driven content.
• A passion for our mission to redefine behavioral health for children and their families
• The desire to work collaboratively with a tight-knit but quickly growing team across many different areas of the business
• Flexibility, humility, and a sense of humor
• Excitement for working in a fast-paced startup
• Alignment with our cultural values
• One team, one mission: We have an important mission, and we’re in it together. We find strength in our differences. We share the ups and downs. And we’re always greater together.
• Can’t stop, won’t stop: We’re going to change lives. We have unstoppable drive to get there. We move forward together, without interference, and we celebrate along the way.
• Be present, be kind: We bring together extraordinary people. We come as we are. We make time for humor and compassion. And we show up for our team.
The Brightline team is headquartered in the SF Bay Area, but we are open to remote work for this role. Our marketing team is currently distributed across the country (New York, Chicago, California).
At Brightline we have built a total rewards philosophy that includes fair, equitable, competitive, geo-based compensation that is performance and potential based. Our strategy is based on robust market research, including external advisory specializing in national compensation, and thoughtful input from every level of our organization. It is a combination of a cash salary, equity, benefits, wellbeing, and opportunity. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual salary range for Colorado and New York City-based applicants is $300k - $350k.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Brightline we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles Show more details...

Our platform utilizes industry knowledge and data scraping to curate an Etsy-like catalogue of fashion & art designers. We will be heavily investing in AI recommendations to help connect users with what they will love most...
One area that makes our business different is that we are a marketplace that has plans to open an "agency" of sorts within the company. We want to help our sellers manage their businesses, and focus more on just being artists. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement if we hold up our end. This allows us share on content creation efforts, and to prioritize marketing traffic to our platform through multiple channels. For artists, it allows them the emotional freedom to indulge in the art they love most. "Empowering artists to focus on the art, and let us take care of the rest." Practically this looks like a standard marketing service with a heavy emphasis on helping facilitate affiliate content creator marketing.
We are in the early stages of working with a boutique marketing agency to act as an extension of our department. They are senior level and have deep experience in Burning Man culture. They will "grey label" services under our brand umbrella to our sellers.
This business is based in Vancouver, BC. But candidates in the western side of the US are preferred.
We are actively in a pre-seed funding round. Once this closes we will be in a position to staff the marketing department. This position will ideally lead that department. Salary will be negotiated based on experience and the total raised in the round. Equity will be vested over at least 4 years. Goals would be set at the point of hire and again at 6 months. Before the 1 year mark we would evaluate performance and if the merit is there to continue with the C-level title or move into a different role in the marketing department. We are looking for long-term fits but won't force the marriage.
Only applicants who are currently active in music festival culture will be considered. Please do not apply if you are not. (Shambhala, Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle, Lucidity, etc.)
Role Description:

The biggest hurdles yet to climb for the business are in marketing. This role is to help lead that effort as someone who lives and breathes marketing, enthusiasm and opportunity.
In the long-term, this role is to play a critical role in establishing our product-market fit. To us, this means having completed a detailed analysis and strategy for the MANY sub-niches and user personas in our music festival and creative circle markets. We are data-centric in everything we do and plan to utilize this expertise in this area. Our intention is to hire an agency to help faciliate this.
