money for scholarships and program, and support the student leaders

relationship with other Fish chaplains, meets the pastoral care

Responsibilities
PROGRAM WORK WITH CHURCH RELATIONS STAFF AND DISCIPLES ON CAMPUS
( DOC ) MINISTRY
• In collaboration with staff and students, establish the vision
and scope of the work of Church Relations and Disciples on
Campus
• Direct the hiring, supervision and evaluation of Church
Relations professional staff
• Facilitate weekly staff meetings
• Lead the Progressive Worship planning team and preach, as
needed
• Offer support and hands-on leadership for special on &
off-campus events & programs
• Offer mentorship and spiritual support to DOC students
• Working with Office of Admissions, recruit, track and encourage
prospective Disciples and UCC students to come to Chapman.
• Coordinate CR student & staff leadership at Disciples &
UCC regional/conference and general/national recruitment
opportunities
• Working with Financial Aid, award scholarships to Disciples and
UCC students
• Grow the DOC program by recruiting progressive Christian
students to join DOC
• Planning and leading annual Founders Day event or its
successor
• Steward The Saint John’s Bible and the canvas labyrinth, making
them available for use
FUNDRAISING
• Plan, direct, monitor and coordinate major and annual gift
development for Church Relations (scholarship 88658, program 6314,
& discretionary 88285 funds)
• Direct the staff and volunteer efforts needed to meet
fundraising annual goals
• Oversee the goal of $100,400 for Church Relations program
budget.
• Oversee the Church Relations Founders Day budget 6316.
• Oversee the Church Relations Discretionary Fund
• Oversee Church Relations scholarship endowments and the
allocation of annual scholarships related to these funds
• Oversee the Church Relations program endowments
• Develop new strategies to attract and involve UCC donors
• Develop and oversee the planning, organization and
implementation of Church Relations prospect cultivation and
management
• Enlist faculty, staff and administrators as appropriate in
their contact with donor prospects
• Work with University Advancement to develop proposals related
the Church Relations and/or scholarship needs
• Support the Office of Legacy Planning in soliciting and
stewarding Disciples and UCC legacy donors
• Write annual reports to major donors as directed by University
Advancement.
CAMPUS CHAPLAIN
• Serve as a campus chaplain, offering spiritual care to
students, faculty, staff, current parents, trustees, alumni and
donors
• Serve, as needed or appointed, on campus committees and
initiatives representing Fish Interfaith Center
• Maintain effective working relationships with campus offices,
particularly Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, Provost,
University Advancement, Special Events, Alumni Relations and
Strategic Marketing and Communications
• Offer invocations and benedictions at Chapman events, as
needed
• Attend and support, when possible, major events hosted by
Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, Directors of Muslim and
Jewish Life and other religious and spiritual
observances/holidays
• Serve as the heritage keeper of Chapman’s Disciples founding,
making sure that the story is told and told accurately.
• Coordinate & lead vigils/rituals/healing circles in time of
campus, regional, national or international crisis
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Fish
