The France-Arizona Institute (FA Institute) at the University of Arizona is in search of an enthusiastic professional to support the FA Institute’s operations, development, communication and outreach as Manager of Academic Programs and Communications (Research Program Admin Officer III).

The FA Institute is a university-wide research institute that was jointly formed and collaborates with the National Scientific Research Center (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - CNRS) in France.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

FA Institute Research Operations:
• Draft and promote the FA Institute’s annual call for joint PhD candidacies in coordination and with input from CNRS.
• Manage the selection of the joint PhD candidacies by identifying potential reviewers, facilitating the review process, and disseminating the selection notifications and disbursement of funds in collaboration with the RII Business Office.
• Coordinate student and faculty/researcher exchanges.

FA Institute Communication and Outreach:
• Coordinate University-wide events to promote the FA Institute’s activities.
• Collaborate with other University units on events, such as the UArizona Study Abroad Fair.
• Maintain the FA Institute’s website.
• Supervise the development and design of the FA Institute’s promotional materials, including the annual report.
• Develop and maintain mailing list.
• Serve as point of contact for media relations and liaison with UArizona Communications.
• Draft press releases for events, research activities, and publications.
• Develop other modes of communication for the FA Institute.
• Support event planning for conferences and workshops.

FA Institute Development:
• Support UArizona-France Higher Education Institution (HEI) collaborations by:
• Facilitate the development of new educational and research program activities such as Visiting Fellows, International Dual Degrees, Vertically Integrated Projects, COIL;
• Develop and maintain international partnerships;
• Develop relationships with French HEIs focused on training and other educational.
• Identify funding opportunities for graduate research assistants.
• Identify existing and potential UArizona-France HEI collaborations.
• Support proposal development in collaboration with PIs and Research Development Services on FA Institute extramural funding proposals, such as the NSF PIRE, as well as for funding opportunities facilitating student and faculty/scholar exchange.

Additional Duties:
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities suggested by supervisor and RII leadership.
• Travel and evening and/or weekend work may be required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Excellent communication abilities in writing and public speaking.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with international colleagues as well as UArizona colleagues, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Ability to understand and work with budgetary procedures and policies.
• Ability to make consistently good decisions and exercise sound judgment and discretion.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree.
• Bilingual in English and French.
• Successful experience managing international research and academic collaborations.
• Experience working with faculty, staff, and students.
• Experience in, and a commitment to, higher education.
