Job Summary:

This position is responsible for development of Cognex product courses, training materials, interactive tutorials, and instructional video with attention to technical details, consistency, and use of best practices. Content design and creation will focus on asynchronous course curricula served up via Web allowing self-guided and self-service options for learners.

Essential Functions:
• Prepares captivating presentations and demonstrations for virtual and in-person classrooms for colleagues, partners, and customers with focus on exceeding expectations
• Creates instruction plans to deliver engaging live online classes using Web conferencing technology like WebEx, Zoom, and MS Teams
• Designs courses for both synchronous and asynchronous delivery
• Initiates and manages special projects such as product training updates for instructors and product launches

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Proficiency creating course curricula for online, self-guided consumption (self-service) as well as in-person, virtual, synchronous delivery (traditional classroom)

Great communication skills : Listens patiently to customers, and helps them communicate their objective and the problem that is keeping them from reaching it while helping to solve the issue;

Ability to explain complicated topics in a simple and tactful way

Proven course development, document, and design standards management

Experience in developing courses eligible for awarding continuing education units / credits / certifications

Willing to travel to attend remote training and seminars with up to 10% travel

Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a dynamic environment

Excellence in creating and delivering engaging presentations with high impact

Cognex experience : Previous experience troubleshooting, setting up, or developing applications utilizing Cognex equipment is a plus

Working knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages is a strong plus : C# or Javascript

Vision system knowledge : Basic knowledge of cameras and lenses is a plus

Multilingual : Speaking multiple languages may be required or a strong plus based on region

Minimum education and work experience required :

Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience

The Team: Test Engineering

The Test-Engineering team designs and develops automated electro-mechanical equipment used throughout the manufacturing process that will functionally validate and/or calibrate these Cognex products.. The team designs systems to ensure the fastest time to market and to sustain the highest standard of quality of manufactured products prior to shipment to the customer.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineering Intern in the test engineering group will design and prototype test system solutions for Cognex products being produced at various manufacturing locations. They will contribute to work on everything from part to system level design with other Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers to develop user friendly machines capable of testing products during the manufacturing process to sustain quality management. These test systems are designed to be fast for high volume products and have micron-level accuracy for low volume precision-based products.

The candidate will be expected to prototype and test their initial designs, work with vendors to build and outsource custom components, and run qualifications of designs.

Essential Functions:
• Design and prototype electro-mechanical test systems and applications in CAD to result in efficient and effective series production
• Support R&D tasks to create novel technology which can be integrated into new and existing test systems in areas such as optics, metrology, and automation using rapid prototyping methods
• Generate documentation and drawings for test fixture processes, components, and assemblies
• Participate in the qualification of test fixtures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• CAD design skills (Solidworks preferred)
• Ability to work cross functionally with electrical and software development teams
• Ability to debug, root cause, qualify, and modify mechanical assemblies
• Experience creating BOMs, mechanical drawings, and assembly/process documentation

Preferred:
• Understanding of design principles for electro-mechanical, kinematic, and optical systems
• Experience prototyping your own designs using various fabrication equipment: mills, lathes, CNC systems, hand tools, 3D printers, laser cutters
• Experience working with vendors for custom components and sourcing specific hardware for designs
• Experience with electromechanical systems: slides, motors, vision systems, sensors, etc.
• Basic knowledge of standard electrical test equipment and schematics

Minimum education and work experience required:
• Working towards BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent
