Job Overview

Under general supervision of the Director, Office of Academic Advising, the Academic Advisor will perform professional student service work in assigned undergraduate programs and majors. This position will support student advising needs, campus processing protocols, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of CSUSM's centralized advising unit. The incumbent will independently assess individual student needs and advise students regarding general education, major and all university graduation requirements and review and maintain working knowledge of designated major assignments. The incumbent will serve in support of campus continuing and prospective degree-seeking students through orientation, evaluation, advising, and other program and student support services. Evaluate and update student records for designated majors to ensure accuracy. Provide guidance to students experiencing academic distress and provide appropriate support and/or referrals, particularly to those experiencing difficult life circumstances. Provides "high touch" student service in a heavy trafficked student service setting. The incumbent will provide academic and student developmental advising; assist in evaluation and processing inquiries for assigned majors and programs. Assist in evaluation of academic progress for continuing students; assist with the processing of graduation verification reviews; provide advisement and counseling to graduating students.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications (Senior Director) serves as the university’s top marketing leader, driving strategic initiatives to advance the university’s brand and profile. Collaborating at all levels across the university, the Senior Director ensures we have consistently high-quality communications and marketing programs that support strategic storytelling, advocacy, stakeholder outreach, and media relations, as well as internal engagement of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, community partners, and friends. Summary

Under the general direction of the Project Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) and operational guidance from the Project Manager, review data, conduct gap analysis, and determine baseline data for at promise student populations in support of the Transfer Success Planning grant. The analyst will work with the project manager to gather and analyze aggregated and disaggregated data from 7 California State Universities (CSUs) and ~7 California Community Colleges (CCC).

The Data Analyst’s work will ultimately inform 1) the cross-institutional team’s understanding of major barriers to transfer success for underserved groups, 2) the team’s thinking regarding plausible collective solutions to transfer success, and 3)inform the team’s outline for a future framework to support other CSUs and CCCs in building effective cross-system transfer success partnerships.

Qualifications

Required:
• B.A. or B.S. in social sciences; graduate degree preferred (or in progress)
• Two (2) to Three (3) years of quantitative and/or qualitative research experience
• Knowledge of research methods and/or educational assessment and evaluation techniques
• Ability to compile and synthesize data from many different sources to produce visuals, narratives, and reports that inform educational practice and policy.

• Provide financial analysis, contractual support, and administrative oversight to project teams.

The School of Nursing at California State University San Marcos
seeks a part-time lecturer to teach in the Master of Nursing degree
program.

As a member of this collaborative professional nursing faculty,
applicants will use effective multiple instruction and assessment
modalities to promote students’ successful achievement academic
success.

The didactic course instructor is responsible to prepare for and
teach the didactic course according to the School of Nursing
curriculum map. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Teaching
• Prepare the course syllabus in accordance with university
policy, using the master course syllabus.
• Provide didactic instruction, according to the syllabus, in a
clear and engaging manner that is appropriate to student academic
level, to assist them in achieving competence according to the
student learning outcomes.
• Utilize multiple instruction modalities to deliver course
content to meet a variety of student learning styles.
• Utilize multiple learning assessment modalities to meet a
variety of student learning styles.
• Utilize computer and application-based technologies as required
to complete instruction and assessment of student learning. This
includes the Learning Management System and all academic support
programs adopted by the School of Nursing.
• Provide written student feedback in a timely manner to
facilitate students’ learning progression through the
semester.
• Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance
with the university and school requirements and deadlines.
• Assist students to master course material by being available
through weekly posted office hours and by helping them to access
university academic support services.
• Notify the program Associate Director if a student is not
progressing as needed and utilize SoN resources to promote student
success.
• Professional Role
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, to resolve issues or
concerns; work effectively as part of the overall faculty team
demonstrating positive and collaborative interpersonal relations to
meet student learning needs
• Model professional nursing behavior and communication at all
times.
• Uphold the ANA Nursing Code of Ethics.
• Complete all SoN orientation requirements and respond to
administrative requests and inservice responsibilities in a timely
manner.
• Maintain professional practice knowledge base and skills needed
to instruct learners in contemporary nursing practice for assigned
course.
• Accountable for the information presented in monthly faculty
meetings.
• Other duties
• Other duties may include assisting the SoN with course and/or
program revision/development, assisting with research, and
participating in committees as an active member of the
faculty.

Minimum qualifications:
• DNP or Ph.D. in Nursing
• Must have demonstrated work experience related to nursing
research and evidence-based practice
• Must have State licensure by California Board of Registered
Nursing.
• Must meet the School of Nursing ’ s requirements regarding
current immunizations and CPR.
• Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment
Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform
CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of
California is a condition of employment

Preferred qualifications:
• Demonstrated teaching experience within the last 5 years.
• Experience in teaching higher education courses.
• Experience teaching in face to face and online instruction
modalities
• Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated
commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural
competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
• Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time
month
• CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time
month
