Job Summary:

The position involves conducting animal models of kidney diseases, such as the adriamycin (mouse) and aminonucleoside (rate) models as well as the endotoxin-induced proteinuria (both the intraperiotoneal and intranasal models), and translational studies with a focus on biomarkers in human samples as well as cell culture studies. Therefore, a solid of understanding of molecular biological methods, PCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence etc. is required.

Our lab is focused on the identification of prognostic and therapeutic targets for children with nephrotic syndrome, and our research approach includes working with human samples, cell cultures, and animal models of kidney disease.

This individual will be under the supervision of Gabriel Cara Fuentes, MD, PhD.

Key Responsibilities

A Research Associate position is available in the Translational Addiction Imaging Laboratory (https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/psychiatry/research/faculty-labs/trail-lab; PI: Joseph P. Schacht, Ph.D.) in the Division of Addiction Science, Prevention and Treatment of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to research on Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and pharmacological treatment for it. Responsibilities will include analyzing and publishing extant data from recently completed AUD research studies and participating as a study team member on three ongoing NIH-funded AUD medication trials. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and submit an individual-level NIH proposal (i.e., F32 or K99). Dr. Schacht will provide mentorship in the areas of clinical research, neuroimaging, genetics, and AUD medications development. There is also an opportunity for candidates with a degree in clinical psychology to obtain supervised clinical hours for licensure. The position is for one year, with a second year contingent upon funding and mutual satisfaction of all parties.

The Grants and Contracts Professional (open rank) supports ACCORDS research functions which include research grants, investigator-initiated studies and program grants. This individual will act as a resource for the Center and will be expected to work independently, as well as collaboratively with ACCORDS Principal Investigators in the grant/contract process and with the overall ACCORDS Grants Team including: development, submission, receipt, post-award administration, and reporting. Job Summary:The Individualized Curriculum - Medical Education - Co-Director for the University of Colorado School of Medicine is responsible for working with faculty, course directors, departments, Curriculum Deans, and other SOM personnel to create and implement the Post Clerkship curriculum and to ensure the achievement of Post Clerkship outcomes. Each individualized curriculum has a team of 2-3 Co-Directors who work together to develop and implement the curriculum.

The Post Clerkship portion of the new Trek medical student curriculum consists of 8+ weeks of curriculum content for students during their last two years of medical school. Each student will match into one of the following Post Clerkship individualized curricula, Bioethics & Humanities, Medical Education, Health Systems & Community Leadership, and Research. Students in each curriculum will form a learning cohort and will complete curricular elements common to their Post Clerkship topic and select other elements from a menu of electives to meet their requirements. The goal of each Post Clerkship individualized curriculum is to enhance a student's ability to positively transform the health of the community beyond their direct clinical practice. Each Individualized Curriculum - Medical Education - Co-Director will be responsible for a cohort of MS3s and MS4s in their curriculum. Each individualized curriculum will capture at least 10% of the student body within their cohort. This is an at-will, paid position at a 0.2 FTE equivalent of salary support, with a salary capped at the Education Salary Cap of $200,000.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise SOM faculty who teach within the individualized curriculums. Responsibilities include assigning work, faculty development, evaluation, and feedback, as well as addressing issues and improving faculty performance.
• Collaborate with SOM support staff for effective communication and delivery of curricular and assessment materials in a timely manner.
• Provide leadership and oversight of the Trail with a focus on the development, implementation, and assessment of Trail goals and session-specific objectives.
• Serve as a resource and communicate in a timely manner with students, administrative staff, and faculty.
• Ensure adherence to shared policies as developed by the curriculum committees and UME leadership.
