About the Position:
Civic seeks a Human Resources (HR) and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Associate to increase its successful Talent team's capacity to drive talent initiatives that improve the employee lifecycle and promotes a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture. Responsibilities:
• Recruitment and Hiring*
• Refine recruitment and interviewing practices to support managers and teams to fill open positions and ensure Civic's practices are equitable, welcoming, and accessible for all.
• Leverage systems, such as JazzHR, and external recruiters to expand Civic's outreach to candidates across diverse audiences.
• Track the diversity of candidate pools at every stage of the hiring process, analyze data and identify strategies to support inclusive recruitment practices.
• Implement comprehensive onboarding supports for new hires, including fellows and interns.
• HR Administration*
• Support benefits administration, compensation, payroll, time and attendance, and other HR processes to efficiently manage the employee lifecycle using an HRIS system, such as ADP Workforce Now.
• Utilize people management software tools, such as Lattice, to support performance management, growth and engagement processes (i.e., goal-setting, pulse surveys, 360s, career tracks, etc.)
• Keep up-to-date with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
• Support relationships, contracts, renewals with HR and benefits systems and vendors.
• Navigate confidential matters that require sensitivity and discretion.
• DEIRJ and Workplace Culture*
• Ensure that DEIRJ best practices are integrated into all HR functions including policy development, internal communications, staff meetings and other activities such as employee surveys, employee resource groups and professional development opportunities.
• Coordinate learning, skill-building and awareness events, experiences, and resources to support our DEIRJ initiatives and promote employee engagement, belonging, recognition, and retention.
• Identify best practices and resources for individuals and managers on workplace culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion, professional learning, and delivering effective feedback.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
• Three years of related professional experience in HR and DEI in a professional and/or non-profit setting
• Relevant Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Familiarity with HR labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
• Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.

Missioner for Operations
This position is aimed at providing on-site service and hospitality and supporting the staff in carrying out extensive operations, programs, congregational work, and ministries throughout the region.
The Missioner for Operations will operate mainly out of the Tonawanda, NY office (with work in the Erie, PA office) and will report to the Chief Operating Officer/Canon for Strategy.
Scope of Work
Hospitality
• Maintain a welcoming environment and a professional atmosphere at the diocesan centers, including greeting visitors and offering hospitality in the Tonawanda
• Manage the phone communication system, including updating recorded messages, answering calls, taking messages, connecting people with appropriate staff, and responding to messages in a timely manner.
• Coordinate building use requests for both offices, updating signage, and, working with the sexton, ensuring requested room set up and other related details.
Administrative Support
• Providing general administrative support, including sorting and distributing mail, purchasing and maintaining office supplies, and taking meeting notes as requested.

Events Coordination

Record and database management
• Maintain clergy, lay leadership, and congregational files and records, including training/certification requirements and compliance.
• Populate and maintain Diocesan and Partnership databases.
• Update and distribute directories and cycles of prayer.
• Initiate background checks as requested by Canons, maintain records, and track compliance of clergy and diocesan employees.
Communications
• Coordinate with the communications team to maintain the Partnership website, ensuring content is accurate and current.
• Assist with creation of diocesan publications, annual journals, bulletins, mailings, and announcements.
• Maintain the church “asset map”.
Other

This is a player/coach role with a unique opportunity for a driven HR professional to take their experience to the next level with a mission-driven organization. Successful candidates will excel in relationship building, be experienced setting HR strategy while aligning with solid operation practices. In addition to a hands-on, operational focus, this role is also responsible for ensuring the work of HR supports shaping the workplace culture that enables team members to thrive and do their best work.

What You'll Do
• Collaborate with senior leadership to support the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
• Provide senior level HR guidance to the Executive team. Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to develop creative solutions for solving problems and improving the quality of the work environment.
• Serve as a team member Champion and resource while effective balancing the priority of minimizing organization liability, risk, and exposure.
• Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource culture, compliance, and strategy needs.
• Effective implementation of recruiting priorities, including the hiring and retention of a diverse workforce to ensure an equitable, inclusive work environment where all feel valued and can thrive.
• Manage recruitment process including attracting, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
• Foster, cultivate and work in collaboration with organizational consulting partners including but not limited to DEI, Culture, Recruiting and Search, and Benefits.
