A successful Associate Director will manage and steward a portfolio of corporate and individual relationships and work as a team player to drive growth that achieves our mission and revenue goals. This position is accountable for significant revenue targets and will influence the strategic implementation of local and nationwide initiatives.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of success in fundraising and/or sales and relationship management. Exceptional organizational and written and verbal communication skills are necessary for this position. Must have ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and achieve results in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Creates and executes fundraising strategies to raise $500,000–$750,000 annually from corporations; works to grow additional sources of revenue
• Serves as a key member of the development team, influencing and driving strategy, relationships and best practices to accomplish market and region financial goals
• Responsible for developing and stewarding a portfolio of relationships to provide funding for our mission (sponsorship, retail campaigns, event teams, grants, donations and other partnerships)
• Develops revenue projections and provides financial analysis
• Oversees stewardship activities; ensures a high-touch response to partners and donors
• Recruits and leads high-level volunteers to provide local leadership, resources and partnerships
• Drives donor-centric partnerships to support financial goals of market events, programs and prioritized initiatives.
• Delivers a high level of customer service to all constituents
• Ensures compliance with Association policies, including employment, risk management, event and cash handling, and financial controls
• Demonstrates integrity, collaboration and stewardship
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of nonprofit, fundraising and/or sales experience preferred
• Experience in peer to peer fundraising is strongly preferred.
• Established success in fundraising and nonprofit leadership
• Proven record of success in account management and developing corporate partnerships that result in exceeding revenue targets
• Knowledge of product marketing/sales concepts
• Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities
• Ability to manage and motivate groups and individuals
• Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Strong market, community and constituent perspective
• Proficiency in computer-based information systems

Compensation Range: $57k - $71k DOE

• Strong desire to work in a mission-driven environment and effect real change
• Experience with data storytelling
• Experience using outcomes and evaluation to advance organization goals and empower better results
• Knowledge of complexity science (a theoretical approach to understanding interconnections among processes and how they yield emergent, dynamic and systems-level behaviors)
• Intellectual curiosity, the ability to ask thoughtful questions, and excellent listening skills
• Strong analytical skills and oral and written communications skills, with an ability to translate complex data and information into actionable recommendations

The American Diabetes Association is seeking a Director, Health Equity and Community Impact to engage in communities where people work, live, learn, and play, and ensure community voice and wisdom is at the forefront of local programs and initiatives. The Director is responsible for internal and external relationship management, advancing the ADA’s Health Equity strategic vision and Bill of Rights, and building strong community engagement and local awareness of prediabetes, diabetes, and opportunities for prevention. The person in this role will be relied on as a strategic partner, thought leader, convener, problem solver, and solutions finder. This individual will be the hub to the spokes for community-based organizations who are already making an impact, and work to scale the great work currently being done through those organizations.

Responsibilities
• Individual contributor responsible for cultivating and creating relationships, and collaborating with community-based organizations, community influencers, health clinics and organizations, and other partners to implement and advance ADA’s health equity initiatives. In addition to forming new relationships within the community, this person will collaborate with existing community partners.
• Serve as account and relationship manager with funders, health-focused and community-centric organizations, as well as a lead contact and subject matter expert for the community and region
• Collaborate with Development staff in region to identify and cultivate relationships that would create health equity focused sponsorships and individual donors
• Drive creative solutions and ideas informed by the community that will remove barriers to equitable health and advance access to quality care
• Represent the ADA and ADA-led collaborations at local events and meetings
• Utilize company assets to raise awareness of prediabetes and diabetes within the community, as well as support sustainable change at the individual and community level
• Other duties as assigned

This position is remote-based with occasional travel, and a balance of community-based time for building relationships and partnerships, and ensuring the work is relevant to and driven by those being served.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in community engagement and impact, civic roles, community-based organizations, public health, health promotion, public relations, or related field
• 3 years of progressive experience in community engagement and/or community health promotion
• Account and relationship management experience
• Demonstrated ability to recruit and mobilize volunteers
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• In depth understanding of local community’s strengths and opportunities; existing relationships with community leaders and/or ability to build those relationships
