Position: Librarian/Director of Learning Resource Center

40 Hours a week/Exempt, Faculty ranking position, reports to the Dean of Faculty

We are looking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative Librarian to help students, faculty, and staff obtain the information, materials, and equipment they need for their courses and assignments. They do it with a smile and a kind heart. We want someone who will listen and remain flexible to try and figure out what patrons need and whether we can help them even if we don’t have the exact thing they request.

This position supervises 1 part-time professional librarian, 12+ student library assistants in the Learning Resource Center (LRC), and 10+ student tutors in the Academic Support Lab (ASL).

The Director of the LRC must have knowledge of a wide array of scholarly and public information sources and must be on the cutting edge of technology trends in order to serve our patrons. They must be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and manage their time effectively with minimal supervision.

Core Responsibilities

Essential Functions / Goals
• Manage daily operations of the school’s Learning Resource Center (LRC), Academic Support Lab (ASL), and Makerspace.
• Ensure excellent customer service.
• Train and supervise a large team of student Library Assistants.
• Train and supervise team of student tutors in ASL daily operations and best practices.
• Provide reference support for students and faculty both in-person and online.
• Develops collection in support of curriculum and research efforts of faculty and students.
• Engage in acquisitions, collection development and weeding, catalogue new materials; copy and original cataloging of monograph, serials, and electronic resources
• Incorporate eBook MARC records into the catalogue to provide one-stop shopping for resources.
• Analyze usage data to optimize the LRC’s services, collection, and hours.
• Coordinate test proctoring for pre-admissions, waiver, make-up, and DSS testing.
• Plan and manage the LRC budget.
• Coordinate Master’s Thesis binding.
• Organize the student required course materials list.
• Actively assist patrons in the Makerspace with a variety of machinery and software including 3D printers, sewing equipment, and vinyl cutter.
• Create policies and procedures for the Makerspace.
• Develop and update training materials and procedure manuals for Makerspace technology.
• Maintain equipment and software for the Makerspace.
• Create and maintain online research guides in support of corresponding learning outcomes.
• Introduce new students and faculty to LRC, ASL, and Makerspace via orientation and class training sessions.
• Market the LRC, library services, Tutoring Services, and the Makerspace to the DigiPen community.

Other Responsibilities
• Participate in professional organizations as appropriate.
• Participate in institutional assessment and strategic planning.
• Participate in the faculty governance structure by serving on various campus committees.

Qualifications / Competencies
• A Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program
• Washington State certification as a librarian
• 3 – 5 years of experience as a librarian, assistant librarian, or other similar position in an academic library or special library.
• Familiarity with the Library of Congress classification system
• Experience using an ILS/OPAC and library cataloguing software.
• Experience in a higher education setting and ability to provide guidance and support for faculty in a university environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate your efforts with multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and ability to innovate and adapt to a continually evolving environment.

Detailed Description:

Interest and ability to teach undergraduate electrical and computer engineering courses and laboratories is essential, and experience with embedded systems and/or programmable logic is desirable. An interest in academic research with student involvement is preferable. Faculty in the department conduct research with undergraduate students in embedded systems, remote sensing, and signal processing, which is often incorporated into student project coursework.

DigiPen is a small, private university in Redmond, WA within the Seattle metro area and one of the most rapidly developing technology hubs in the world. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program is focused on embedded systems and includes team-based projects in each semester of the program. As students develop through the program, they have increasingly more creative control over their projects and are responsible for component selection, design, system test, and implementation of their own hardware and/or software system. Design constraints that are encountered in industry are followed, such as use model, cost, power, and portability. These projects complement rigorous coursework in computer science, engineering, mathematics, and physics. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program is accredited by ABET-EAC.

POSITION: Computer Support Technician

The Computer Support Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day support of Windows workstations, peripherals, and audiovisual equipment, including hardware, software, and usage. Workflow is managed through a ticketing system and walk-in users. The candidate should be able to respond to requests, identify problems, and implement solutions. POSITION: Assistant Director (AD) of Residential Life, DigiPen Housing LLC

About DigiPen Housing and Residence Life:
• Every year, DigiPen Housing supports student residents as they pursue their education at DigiPen. We offer apartment-style housing to a limited number of students during the academic year with off-campus living accommodations and supportive living communities. DigiPen Housing additionally hosts International students from our DigiPen Singapore campus over the summer.
• DigiPen Housing leases units from property owners and manages apartments for student occupants. 4 residential communities are currently supported as of the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
• Our mission is to equip residents with basic life skills and foster a sense of community while supporting their academic pursuits.

Position Description:
• This is an exempt, full-time, and required live-in role that reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life
• The Assistant Director is part of the DigiPen Housing Team, which consists of the Housing Operations Coordinator, two Assistant Directors and the Director of Housing & Residence Life.
• The two Assistant Director roles are split into two concentrations - Residential Education & Curriculum and Resident Experience & Outreach.
• These concentrations are designed to allow each Assistant Director the ability to research and propose initiatives for improvement within the Residential Life Program. They will be assigned committees/workgroups/inter-department communication in relation to their concentration.
• Each Assistant Director will be assigned separate residential communities/corresponding Resident Assistants but are expected to otherwise work together to complete the main responsibilities listed below.

The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Responsibilities:
• Serve on the duty rotation in one-week increments, serving in the on-call capacity 24/7 during that rotation.

Job purpose
• Instruct students in ART 150: Human Anatomy
• Assist students in learning the proportions of the human figure in relationship to the underlying skeleton.
• Assist students in accurately positioning the skeleton and various muscle structures within photographs or drawings of the human figure in various poses.
• Teach the various types of joints in the body and their range of actions.
• Teach anatomical structure lines, and lines of flow relevant to life drawing and character art.
• Critique and offer assistance at various stages of student work.

Qualifications / Competencies

Qualifications include:

POSITION: Adjunct Faculty - Game & Software Production (GAM 300/400) Lecturer

The Department of Game Software Design and Production is seeking an Adjunct Faculty applicant with expertise in current game development technology and the ability to teach game team project courses with a variety of disciplines. We are currently hiring an adjunct to assist with one of two courses:

The course GAM 300 is the first semester of a two- or three-semester project, which will be continued in GAM 350, and then in GAM 375 for a three-semester project. Students will work together on teams of three or more to create an advanced real-time game or simulation. Techniques are explored for creating high performance teams, tuning development processes for specific projects, using advanced discipline-based best practices, and applying specialized discipline-based skills to game development. This first semester focuses on pre-production to ensure the technology, tools, design, art, audio, and team are ready for full production in the following semester.

In the course GAM 400, students prepare their personal portfolio of projects in order to be ready for a professional job search. This can involve a new project to demonstrate a particular professional skill or taking a previous project to very high level of quality.

Duties / Responsibilities
• Teach team-based courses in Game Software Design and Production including 2D and 3D game development, game production pipelines and team dynamics and roles
• Grade, review and critique student team project-based work, providing creative direction and critique to students as well as technical guidance for the tools required in the course
• Lecture and teach in classroom and/or lab settings
• Mentor student teams in research-based or industry-driven projects
• Participate in teaching-related service roles, including scheduled office hours, archiving of student work, and program assessment activities

Qualifications / Competencies

Required
• Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience, or a terminal degree, and knowledge within the game industry
• Strong grasp of fundamentals of 2D and/or 3D game development
• Strong understanding of team dynamics, team organization, and team communication
• Ability to provide quality feedback, practical work solutions, and instruction in 2D and 3D game development
• Ability to communicate the art, audio, design and programming team's roles, tasks and expectations
• Working knowledge of game design fundamentals and best practices
• Working knowledge of a broad range of game development tools
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering involving interactions between computer science and interactive digital entertainment
• 6+ years of software industry experience including technical and/or production lead positions with the ability to apply the skills of the area of specialization
• Development experience in PC games, mobile games and/or VR/AR using middleware such as Unity or Unreal
• Professional experience in programming and/or scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, or JavaScript, and visual scripting software such as Unreal Blueprints
• Demonstrated experience working on game titles across various platforms and/or media
• Teaching or other professional public speaking experience, including professional talks or panels at conferences, conventions, or events
