THE POSITION

DoSomething is seeking a Senior Communications Associate to join its Communications and Marketing team. The Senior Communications Associate will be tasked with crafting and coordinating the production of impactful member-facing communications and editorial content to advance the narrative of DoSomething’s programming and brand, and elevate the voices of young people. The Senior Communications Associate will help to create and implement DoSomething’s communications and content strategy including but not limited to: online media, newsletters, marketing collateral, and press materials.

This role would report to the Senior Communications Manager. You will play an important role in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary team, ensuring accurate, consistent, and effective storytelling and becoming a public-facing voice for DoSomething with our members.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Copy & Content Development (65%)
• Write and produce high-performing, brand-consistent copy across multiple mediums (email, social, newsletters, articles, creative briefs, video scripts, etc.) ensuring all content centers the voices and ideas of young people, with an emphasis on elevating the stories and experiences of BIPOC, historically marginalized and underrepresented communities.
• Edit and proofread copy consistent with DoSomething’s tone and use SEO principles to maximize copy’s reach.
• Maintain the editorial calendar and production timelines for all content shared with over 240K subscribers.
• On a regular cadence, perform content audits to assess how well existing content is performing
• Oversee drafting, building, QAing and sending all external communications via SMS and emails on organization’s platforms
• Work alongside Associate Web Producer to build and deploy relevant content on the organization’s website, including DoSomething program messages and editorials
• Ensure compliance of email and SMS industry benchmarks and best practices and facilitate competitive research analysis across key messaging channels and platforms
• Participate in meetings with key stakeholders, including product and engineering team, to identify and align on development of site content, style, and layout.
• Work cross-functionally with key team members to assist with content creation and implementation through DoSomething’s website and content management systems, on projects like our next climate change program or end-of-year giving campaign.

Communications Strategy (20%)
• Partner with the Senior Communications Manager and Member Engagement Manager to reimagine our member communications programs including a refreshed newsletter and drip messaging strategy
• In collaboration with the Social Media Manager; help to grow and diversify our member collective by proactively monitoring social trends and cultural conversations and developing innovative content strategies across established and emerging platforms.
• Support key teams with analyzing DoSomething member engagement and identifying opportunities for optimization.

Communications and PR Support (15%)
• Support all facets of our communications function including the development of press releases, materials for funders for as well as presentation decks and talking points for staff speaking engagements
• Monitor and update DoSomething’s media coverage–both traditional and social–to capture earned media and impressions.
• Assist Senior Communications Manager with developing and maintaining positive relationships with partners, key stakeholders, vendors, and media.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you’ll bring.
• Minimum 3 year experience in a content strategy, marketing, copywriting or communications role with a demonstrated track record of adhering to style guidelines and producing content with a consistent tone across multiple formats and mediums.
• Excellent written communications skills and storytelling abilities. Must be able create meaningful and relatable narratives for a diverse set of audiences including our members, our partners, and the media.
• Strong technical commands of CRM(s) like MailChimp, Twilio, Customer.io, Contentful, and Salesforce. Familiarity with Tableau, Google Analytics, Monday.com and data visualization tools is a huge plus.
• Knowledge of online content strategy and creation, and a solid understanding of SEO, keyword research, and experience with integrating SEO best practices into an organization's communications strategy.
• Finely tuned interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate and collaborate seamlessly across multiple stakeholders and teams.
• Experience with online community building. Direct experience creating content for young people is strongly preferred.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 annually.

THE JOB

The Vice President of Programming & Impact will, in collaboration with senior leaders across the organization, be responsible for designing strategies to implement DoSomething’s new strategic plan, theory of change and logic model. This leader will be responsible for determining how to design, measure and evaluate, and scale DoSomething’s new programmatic and membership engagement approach. This leader will deploy dynamic thought and visionary leadership to create alignment and drive innovation among all members of the team who support and inform DoSomething’s programming, including devising and informing strategies for creative programming, and using analytics and insights to drive programmatic impact.

What you’ll do

Scalable youth engagement and impact (35%).
• Develop and lead a program and impact team that champions and amplifies the voices of young people, including especially those from historically marginalized communities;
• Design a membership value proposition and membership program that enables DoSomething to attract, activate and retain an inclusive and reflective collective of young people who share a sense of community and belonging;
• Lead and innovate creative, programmatic design and strategy;
• Collaborate with the Development Team to support fundraising for programmatic initiatives and campaigns;

What You’ll Bring
• 10+ years of experience in civic engagement and democracy, human services, education, program management, or public advocacy sectors.
• Direct experience with programmatic budget and resource management; programmatic evaluation and data analysis; communications; and advocacy and public policy.

THE POSITION

DoSomething is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial Senior Manager of Individual Giving to drive the creation and implementation of our individual giving strategies at a time of growth and innovation within the organization. Reporting to the VP of Development, the Senior Manager contributes to the mission and vision of DoSomething.org by reaching annual giving goals, executing events and donor engagement opportunities, and managing key databases to ensure a data-driven approach to fundraising. The Senior Manager must be able to successfully navigate both the external facing and internal needs of the position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Research and Strategy (20%)
• Develop an individual donor strategy that works to actively diversify the organization’s donor base, in service of the organization’s stance on Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Belonging.
• Draft and implement the organization's annual fundraising calendar for individuals
• Conduct prospect research, create data reports and research briefs to support growing the organization’s individual giving program

Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship (60%)
• Develop and implement a cultivation and stewardship plan to move donors (annual donors, recurring donors, mid-level and major donors) through the development lifecycle and pipeline.
• Strengthen the donor experience by preparing personalized correspondences, donor updates, invites, etc.
• Develop compelling cases for support that can be adapted as part of impact reports, solicitations and personalized donor communications.
• Represent DoSomething to key stakeholders including the Board of Directors, major donors, prospects, and more.
• Support the CEO and the VP, Development in donor meetings, as needed

Donor Events (10%)
• Manage intimate (Salon style) donor cultivation events, including invitation list curation, communication plan, logistics, run of show, catering, etc.
• Working closely with the VP of Development and Event Consultant, taking a leadership role in overseeing DoSomething’s annual gala.

Cross-Team Collaboration (10%)
• Partner with leaders across the organization to ensure that the donor portfolio is engaged through meetings, events, and engagement opportunities.
• Work to build and promote a Culture of Philanthropy across the organization

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• You love to fundraise. You come with 4-6 years of direct experience in individual giving and donor relations, ideally with managing annual fund programs and giving campaigns.
• You are seriously passionate about what we do. You believe in the collective power of young people and you’re obsessed with getting young people across the globe to take action on important social issues.
• You are known for your strong communication and interpersonal skills. You want to tell everyone you meet about our work, and you do. You can develop messaging with clear narratives and your on-brand storytelling capabilities make you the “it” person in the room.
• You’re flexible and able to pivot quickly to prioritize donor needs. You’re practiced in customizing your approach, and calibrating to different communication styles.
• You are proficient in GSuite and have demonstrated knowledge of CRMs and prospecting tools and techniques (e.g. Salesforce).
