Treatment Nurse Summary:

The Treatment Nurse Provides primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of residents' attending physicians, Director of Nursing or Medical Director of facility with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin orders. The Treatment Nurse assists in modifying the treatment regimen to meet physical and psychosocial needs of resident, in accordance with established medical practices, governmental requirements and Company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identifies, manages, and treats specific skin disorders and primary and secondary lesions.
• Provides input on assessment and diagnostic services to residents using techniques including observation, inspection and palpation.
• Completes weekly skin assessment of resident and records results with assessment.
• Provides treatment and therapeutic services per physician orders. Ensures that residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment, such as daily inspection, turning and activity, a well-planned diet, and maintenance of clean, dry bed.
• Provides information to resident and family members on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve general health and psychosocial status of resident.
• Provides written and/or oral reports and recommendations to attending physician and completes weekly skin reports for DON.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Previous nursing or healthcare experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must have an active license in vocational nursing

Position Summary
Provides oversight to the regulatory and accreditation programs ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, and compliance with The Joint Commission standards. Coordinates licensing activities (e.g. CPDH, CLIA, Tissue). Collaborates with JC Chapter owners in reviewing to compliance with standards. Cross covers the Risk Management program as needed.

Essential Functions:
Directs the regulatory management program, oversees performance improvement activities, and supports all activities to ensure successful review by all regulatory and accreditation bodies such as The Joint Commission ("TJC"), California Department of Public Health ("CDPH"), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS").

Assists in survey activities and regulatory compliance with particular focus on The Joint Commission surveys, CDPH interactions for complaints, surveys and facility renovation and expansion, accreditation and other accrediting /regulatory bodies as needed.

Oversees regulatory reporting.

Survey and Regulatory Compliance Leadership
Directs activities and staff to maintain preparedness for external surveys through updates, tracers, rounds, and education. Keeps abreast of regulatory changes and communicates those to leadership and modifies processes as required. Develops and coordinates reports to external regulatory/accrediting bodies. Conduct gap analyses regarding standards and regulations. Report data as required and keep leadership informed of same.

Collaborates with others to add, renovate or develop clinical practice facilities that provide safe care and meet regulatory guidelines.
• Executes regulatory management programs.
• Provides input on data for critical reporting components for trending and mitigation actions to the appropriate committees, departments, individuals, and regulatory agencies.
• Executes on the remediation and closure of internal and external (e.g., assessments, surveys, inspections) for regulatory management.

• Directs orientation and continuing education programs for providers, management and staff to enhance awareness of their role in high reliability, just culture, patient safety, clinical risk reduction and event reporting.
• Ensures compliance with various codes, laws, rules and regulations concerning patient care/safety, including those mandates by County, State and Federal agencies.
• Coordinates and Tracks licensing.
• Coordinates regulatory readiness rounds and mock surveys.
• Maintains AMP survey readiness tool for The Joint Commission.

Supervisory Duties
Develop and achieve departmental goals, assist in developing budgets. Participate on committees as assigned. Function as a teacher/facilitator in educational efforts to orient new staff, enhance quality, safety and the culture of service. Collaborate with other departments and Clinical Network Sites to ensure the regulatory program is integrated and vital.
• Oversees QRRM Coordinator and assists with all duties as assigned.

Communication of Strategic Information
• Identify and evaluate performance of meaningful clinical risk metrics.
• Communicates hospital performance to the board of directors by working with the VP of Quality on reports regarding clinical risk areas.
• Communicates with relevant parties and the Policy and Procedure Manager regarding integration of findings, regulations and suggestion to improve policy and procedures.
• Performs benchmarking of performance against industry leaders.
• Supports the integration of lean tools in streamlining process and procedures related to clinical risk and the policy/procedure processes.
• Visits offsite locations biannually to meet and educate staff.
• Chairs the Survey Readiness Team Committee.

Cross-coverage
• Assists in cross-covering for risk cases as needed.

Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
