The College of Business is seeking applications for the position of Director of Professional Services and Executive Education within Professional Services available beginning May 2023. The Director of Professional Services & Executive Education is responsible for leading the development and promotion of the College of Business’s professional and executive development service offerings. The Director plays a vital role in the College’s mission of supporting regional transformation by developing programs and initiatives that leverage faculty and staff expertise in support of leader development, employee skill building, organizational problem-solving and workforce development across the region. This position will be responsible for development and execution of marketing and promotional strategies to assure top-of-mind awareness for regional businesses and non-profit agencies of ECU COB faculty expertise and support across all business disciplines, identification and development of course offerings and customizable programs that support the most significant need of regional businesses and agencies, development and administration of frictionless engagement opportunities for both faculty and client organizations, establish and communicate a strategic plan, revenue targets and critical milestones in the development of a comprehensive professional and executive development course and program offering, provide leadership in the assurance of best-in-class program coordination, instructional design, and course/program delivery and facilitation, coordinate and monitor day-to-day program delivery and act as the initial contact for clients on matters of curriculum development and program evaluation, meet with potential clients and communicate the College’s mission through regular and continuous attendance at professional and community forums, oversee development and implementation of outreach plans to increase the number and variety of clients served, recruit subject matter experts to provide training and consultation, including serving as a liaison to other University units in development of course offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION40%: Support front-line fundraising activity of entire department: Submit travel requests for AVC approval daily/weekly; process credit card statements and travel reimbursements; reconcile department expenditures against budget; confirm appointments with donors on behalf of the AVC; produce informational donor reports in advance of AVC meetings and travel; pull AVC portfolio weekly for review of weekly priorities, track task progress and completion and input data on behalf of the AVC as needed. Staff recruitment process for new hires and develop and schedule orientation schedules for new hires. Analyze and resolve unusual and novel situations based on significant knowledge of the team’s goals and priorities. This would include researching various tools that can assist the gift team and provide training to the gift officers on new software adapted by campus like Kronos, Teams, Zoom, and Chrome River. Assist AVC in preparing onboarding materials that are used while training new hires.20% Meetings/Events:Meetings/Events: Maintain AVC’s calendar, coordinate dates with a variety of calendars, (i.e., deans, direct reports, donors, University Advancement colleagues, chancellor’s staff, administrators, donors, etc.). 10% Public Contact:
Serve as liaison between AVC and deans/senior campus administrators, ECU Foundation Board committees, and various advancement council leadership for main campus colleges. Take notes during conference calls with donors and volunteers. Exercise authority to speak on behalf of the AVC regarding a variety of administrative matters. Answer phone and greet visitors in a professional, informative manner. Job Duties :

The successful candidate will assist departmental staff in daily operation of a Core laboratory providing mass spectrometry and other analytical services to support academic research and industrial development projects. The Research Associate will also provide general support of Department of Chemistry shared instructional and research instrumentation. Instrumentation is housed in the Department of Chemistry. Primary instructional and service instruments include LCMS (QTOF, QQQ, ICPMS, GCMS, GCFID, HPLC/UPLC/UV/DAD/CAD, FTIR, NIR, Raman, KF Titrators, Dissolution Apparatus I/II, and a TAM IV calorimeter. Duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. 20% – Collaborate on small-scale research and development projects with scientists in academia and industry.
b. 35% – Assist staff and graduate assistant(s) in maintenance and operation of analytical instrumentation and interpretation and delivery of results to internal and external constituents.
c. 5% – Collaborate in authoring reports to external funding agencies and in articles for publication.
d. 35% – General upkeep of research and instructional instruments.

The master’s degree programs consist of 50-60 campus students and 50-60 distance education students.

Job Duties :

The major purpose of this position is to coordinate all of the Clerical/administrative and business operations of the various departmental academic programs and the ECU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. Work requires knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to communicate and process information. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, personnel administration and contact with departmental faculty/staff regarding departmental/ clinical activities.

The position must ensure the faculty’s academic and research needs are met through the development and implementation of procedures that provide support for all faculty at the direction of the Chair of the Department. This position may require the assignment of responsibilities for supervising student workers as needs arise to ensure a high quality of work. The position must also ensure accuracy of student records, and statistical administrative tasks. This position must be able to coordinate varied records processing and some interpretation of agency procedures, policies, laws, and regulations. In consultation with the Chair of the Department or the Director of the Clinic, this position may be responsible for developing recommendations for departmental and clinical supplies/equipment and other operational needs that impact the program and clinic operations.

This position may screen applicants for student employment in the academic office and may be asked to assist the Department Chair in evaluating student workers. This individual will also be trained to support general operations for the clinic and may be required to work in both the department and clinic (rotating days as needed). Other duties may include development of letters, memos, directive, meeting minutes and other documents necessary for daily operations; maintain skills for using computers and software necessary for daily operations; ascertaining that computers and programs are running properly; daily contact with departmental faculty and staff and/or students; retrieving mail; helping to maintain records for personnel, searches, students, and other related tasks.

Job Duties :

The WRC’s Community and Program Coordinator will take a lead role in implementing key programs within the Water Resources Center. About 50% of the position will be focused on program coordination for the Coastal Community Environmental Data Scholars National Research Foundation Traineeship (CCEDS NRT) program. The NRT coordinator will be responsible for a broad range of activities in this graduate education program, including student engagement and records management, partnering with faculty on curricular design and program implementation, student recruitment and outreach development (e.g., seminars, internships, partnerships, etc.). The remaining 50% of the position will focus on the management of projects in support of the Center’s community engagement and relationship development activities. These activities will include building partnerships within and external to ECU, coordinating stakeholders to support the development and implementation of Center programs, project planning and assessment of outcomes, leadership and coordination of student programs across the Center, and supervision of student participants and employees. The Coordinator will be responsible for organizing community building events within and external to the University, including the annual Tar River Community Science Festival. The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences (herein referred to as Cardiovascular Sciences or CVS) is the university’s newest department, and is a primary contributor to the School’s mission of medical education, patient care, research, and community service.
Playing an important role in the Brody School of Department’s academic group practice, the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences consists of the Department Chairman, Division Chiefs, Department Administrator, Nurse Administrator, and seven clinical and educational divisions. The primary roles of education (students, residents, fellows and continuing medical education), clinical services (Structural Heart Disease, Electrophysiology & Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Primary and Secondary Prevention, and Vascular Diseases), research (clinical and basic bench research in cardiovascular clinical care, clinical trials to develop new treatments for cardiovascular disease, educational programs for local, regional, and national health care providers, and wellness and prevention programs), academic affairs/faculty development, and administration (business and clinical support services) are led by the Department Chairman, Division Chiefs, and Department Administrator.
The clinical sections represented in Cardiovascular Diseases include: Structural Heart Disease, Electrophysiology & Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Primary and Secondary Prevention, and Vascular Diseases. There are currently 36 MD and PhD faculty members, 18 Fellows, and 12 Physician Extenders and Cardiovascular Sciences Technicians.
A clinical, administrative, and research support staff numbering nearly 130 CSS and SHRA employees provides support to the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences’ faculty and learner groups. Subspecialty fellows (fully trained internists receiving training in a clinical subspecialty within Cardiovascular Sciences and Internal Department) currently number eighteen.

The department looks at enhancing the billing process activities for optimal reimbursement from third party payors and expediting payments due from patients, thereby reducing days in accounts receivable. There is also a tremendous amount of research done, due to not always having correct insurance information, correct patient information, or correct information to allow claims to “go out” as a clean claim on the first attempt.
Job Duties :

The A/R Follow-up Representative is responsible for proper and timely billing as it relates to ECUP professional medical claims, follow up and collection of revenues from third party insurance companies. The A/R Follow-up Representative is responsible for reviewing and resolving all accounts. Additionally, this position may be assigned work relating to account receivables for our Third-Party Payors in the areas of claims submission, accounts and denial resolution and identify trends to reach key performance indicators (KPIs). Employees must be knowledgeable of compliance trends as it relates to billing and reimbursement and assist in the prevention of potential errors that could be considered fraudulent or abusive by a third-party payer. Employees serve as ECUP revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty when third party payer on-site meetings are conducted and serve as ECUP revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty in clinical departmental coding and PAS meetings as needed.

Clinical Finance and Business Support Services/Group Practice Administration is responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of the group practice for ECU Physicians. The practice is comprised of approximately 360 faculty physicians, 52 contracted providers and employs a diverse clinical support staff of more than 1,200 individuals, of which approximately 350 employees are working within revenue cycle operations The practice provide approximately 550,000 outpatient, 155,000 emergency room and 126,000 inpatient services annually to nearly 160,000 patients. Clinical Finance and Business Support Services reports to the ECU Physicians (ECUP) Executive Director and ECUP Chief Financial Officer to support key fiscal and operational components of the clinical practice and revenue cycle operations. These include direct management responsibility for staffing and operations in the centralized functions of the Central Billing Office (CBO) and oversight for decentralized activities. Centralized functions include: Payor Contracting and Evaluation, Regulatory Compliance and Credentialing; Computer System and Procedure Training; Insurance and Patient Billing, Follow-up and Collections; Cash Management of Professional Fee Revenue; Business Intelligence Services such a Reporting and Analytics; Coordinated Patient Access Support; and Contact Center Decentralized functions include: Registration, Referral Management, Pre-Service Financial Preparation; Service Identification and Reconciliation; Coding and Charge Entry; and Project Management and Process Improvement.
Job Duties :

The person in this position will work closely with the Credentialing Coordinator to organize materials. The job duties will consist of being able to recognize the type of packet for new providers through an understanding and knowledge of credentialing policies. The Assistant will assist the Credentialing Coordinator throughout the process of credentialing as needed The Assistant will answer phone calls and greet providers and others entering the office in a pleasant and professional manner. Responsibilities will require the Assistant to have good computer skills and be able to work in Word, Excel, Cactus and WebXtender. Attention to detail is essential and the ability to complete daily work to meet established deadlines. All credentialing is based on timelines so the person in this position has to pay attention to detail and accuracy. Assist in entering data in Cactus (the database used in credentialing), scan and tab files in the WebXtender database this is where all credentialing files will be stored and be able to retrieve information from the WebXtender as needed. The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining copies of current licensure and board certifications for all ECU Physician Providers and make sure all University Health System entities that the provider works in also have updated licensure and certification. The Assistant will exhibit the ability to work in a service environment and the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure of meeting deadlines. Good judgment and excellent people skills are essential to successfully perform the duties of the position. Ability to multi-task is very important.

Our tertiary care catchment area includes more than 1.5 million people in eastern North Carolina, many of whom arrive via our integrated mobile critical care and air medical service. Our children’s ED opened in July 2012 and the children’s hospital opened in June 2013. Job Duties :

This advanced level practice provider is used to extend the services of the physicians and includes medical diagnoses and medical and surgical treatment as directed by the physicians at ECU Health Emergency Department and/or ECU Health Beaufort Hospital Emergency Department. This individual will be expected to help coordinate medical activities including activities of patient evaluation and care, as well as consulting physicians, technical, and other medical personnel as directed by the physicians.
