The College of Business is seeking applications for the position of Director of Professional Services and Executive Education within Professional Services available beginning May 2023. The Director of Professional Services & Executive Education is responsible for leading the development and promotion of the College of Business’s professional and executive development service offerings. The Director plays a vital role in the College’s mission of supporting regional transformation by developing programs and initiatives that leverage faculty and staff expertise in support of leader development, employee skill building, organizational problem-solving and workforce development across the region. This position will be responsible for development and execution of marketing and promotional strategies to assure top-of-mind awareness for regional businesses and non-profit agencies of ECU COB faculty expertise and support across all business disciplines, identification and development of course offerings and customizable programs that support the most significant need of regional businesses and agencies, development and administration of frictionless engagement opportunities for both faculty and client organizations, establish and communicate a strategic plan, revenue targets and critical milestones in the development of a comprehensive professional and executive development course and program offering, provide leadership in the assurance of best-in-class program coordination, instructional design, and course/program delivery and facilitation, coordinate and monitor day-to-day program delivery and act as the initial contact for clients on matters of curriculum development and program evaluation, meet with potential clients and communicate the College’s mission through regular and continuous attendance at professional and community forums, oversee development and implementation of outreach plans to increase the number and variety of clients served, recruit subject matter experts to provide training and consultation, including serving as a liaison to other University units in development of course offerings.

Minimum Education/Experience :
The candidate must possess a graduate degree (MBA, DBA, PhD or EdD) from an appropriately accredited institution, and demonstrate strong spoken and written communication skills. The candidate must have a track record successfully executing priorities without constant direct supervision. Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced business environment is essential.

Small group leader in PADP 6690 Introduction to Clinical Practice. Precept PA student in clinical rotations as schedule allows. Attend monthly facutly meetings and annual facutly retreat. Advise on matters related to program accreditation and advocate on behalf of PA program within the ECU Health system.
Minimum Education/Experience :
MD with 3 yrs of experience

Medical degree & Active NC State Medical License

Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease

Duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Duties :
The major purpose of this position is to coordinate all of the Clerical/administrative and business operations of the various departmental academic programs and the ECU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. Work requires knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to communicate and process information. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, personnel administration and contact with departmental faculty/staff regarding departmental/ clinical activities.
The position must ensure the faculty’s academic and research needs are met through the development and implementation of procedures that provide support for all faculty at the direction of the Chair of the Department. This position may require the assignment of responsibilities for supervising student workers as needs arise to ensure a high quality of work. The position must also ensure accuracy of student records, and statistical administrative tasks. This position must be able to coordinate varied records processing and some interpretation of agency procedures, policies, laws, and regulations. In consultation with the Chair of the Department or the Director of the Clinic, this position may be responsible for developing recommendations for departmental and clinical supplies/equipment and other operational needs that impact the program and clinic operations.
This position may screen applicants for student employment in the academic office and may be asked to assist the Department Chair in evaluating student workers. This individual will also be trained to support general operations for the clinic and may be required to work in both the department and clinic (rotating days as needed). Other duties may include development of letters, memos, directive, meeting minutes and other documents necessary for daily operations; maintain skills for using computers and software necessary for daily operations; ascertaining that computers and programs are running properly; daily contact with departmental faculty and staff and/or students; retrieving mail; helping to maintain records for personnel, searches, students, and other related tasks.

The NRT coordinator will be responsible for a broad range of activities in this graduate education program, including student engagement and records management, partnering with faculty on curricular design and program implementation, student recruitment and outreach development (e.g., seminars, internships, partnerships, etc.). The remaining 50% of the position will focus on the management of projects in support of the Center’s community engagement and relationship development activities. These activities will include building partnerships within and external to ECU, coordinating stakeholders to support the development and implementation of Center programs, project planning and assessment of outcomes, leadership and coordination of student programs across the Center, and supervision of student participants and employees. The Coordinator will be responsible for organizing community building events within and external to the University, including the annual Tar River Community Science Festival. Organizational Unit Overview:
The Brody School of Department at East Carolina University (ECU) is composed of 18 departments which function to: 1) provide health care for the citizens of eastern North Carolina; 2) educate primary care physicians to meet the health care needs of eastern North Carolina; and 3) make medical education available to minority and disadvantaged people. The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences (herein referred to as Cardiovascular Sciences or CVS) is the university’s newest department, and is a primary contributor to the School’s mission of medical education, patient care, research, and community service.
Playing an important role in the Brody School of Department’s academic group practice, the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences consists of the Department Chairman, Division Chiefs, Department Administrator, Nurse Administrator, and seven clinical and educational divisions. The primary roles of education (students, residents, fellows and continuing medical education), clinical services (Structural Heart Disease, Electrophysiology & Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Primary and Secondary Prevention, and Vascular Diseases), research (clinical and basic bench research in cardiovascular clinical care, clinical trials to develop new treatments for cardiovascular disease, educational programs for local, regional, and national health care providers, and wellness and prevention programs), academic affairs/faculty development, and administration (business and clinical support services) are led by the Department Chairman, Division Chiefs, and Department Administrator.
The clinical sections represented in Cardiovascular Diseases include: Structural Heart Disease, Electrophysiology & Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Primary and Secondary Prevention, and Vascular Diseases. There are currently 36 MD and PhD faculty members, 18 Fellows, and 12 Physician Extenders and Cardiovascular Sciences Technicians.
A clinical, administrative, and research support staff numbering nearly 130 CSS and SHRA employees provides support to the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences’ faculty and learner groups. Subspecialty fellows (fully trained internists receiving training in a clinical subspecialty within Cardiovascular Sciences and Internal Department) currently number eighteen.
The majority of the department’s educational, clinical and research activities take place within the context of the East Carolina University Brody School of Department and the ECU Health Medical Center. The central component of the medical center will be the new East Carolina Heart Institute (ECHI). Designed to be a world-class cardiovascular destination offering state-of-the-art medical technology, education, and research in one location, the East Carolina Heart Institute is composed of three main partners: ECU Health Medical Center, East Carolina University, and private practice practitioners. The Institute is committed to superior patient care, collaborative research, and continuous training and education. The East Carolina Heart Institute is the umbrella name for the two facilities that make up the Institute.
Patient Access Services (PAS) is a work unit under the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, and consists of patient scheduling, registration, financial counseling, and referral coordinators.
Job Duties :
Manage personnel recruitment and retention
Provide on-site training to staff and identify follow-up training needs
Indoctrinate new employees into the nuances and practices of clinic office
Train/update employees regarding new changes (i.e. policies, processes, procedures, etc.) via in person, phone or email
Monitor employee performance to determine needed training
Contact Clinical Financial Services EHR trainers to schedule employee training to update or augment employee skills
Act upon suggestions made by Clinical Financial Services EHR trainers to address and facilitate employee learning
Review standard employee work plans
Ensure employee understands job expectations and signs work plan form
Develop timelines to reach goals
Monitor quality of performance and work behaviors
Observe daily employee work conduct
Monitor collections of all staff and ensures referrals are done on a timely basis
Enter, monitor and approve employee time
Monitor reports which reveal employee performance and/or training needs
Review performance issues with employee to determine needed training, disciplinary action, work distribution
Oversee employee reporting/time management
Serve as liaison between patients, PAS staff, and medical providers
Mediate and resolve problems between PAS staff, patients and providers
Compile statistical data to create reports for site manager
Create monthly reports consisting of arrival/no show rates, referrals completed, authorizations obtained, phone statistics, scheduling stats, etc.
Assist the manager with budgetary responsibilities
Submit requests for capital expenses such as equipment, supplies, personnel, etc. to manager to be included in annual budget
Maintain a variety of records and reports
Employee files and policy changes
Maintain authorizations received from insurance companies, cashier office collections, etc.
Ensure insurance authorizations are in place before patient is seen
Work department denial work queue
Missing charge report
Past pending reports (no shows)
Review Televox for patient appointment cancellations; removes patient appointments in electronic health record; notifies patients via letter if phone number out of order
Medicaid patient reports (enrollment forms into DSS to change to correct provider on card)
Ad hoc reports at the request of management
Serve as back-up for various patient access roles when the need arises
Fill in as needed in any role necessary
Oversee the distribution of mail (patient correspondence, physician correspondence, etc.) *In absence of mail person, opens, looks up patient record, inserts patient record number and provider on document and puts mail in appropriate location
Maintain accurate knowledge of all ECUP policies
Ensure staff has read and signed policy statements
Update employees as needed
Serve as resource to staff on policy questions
Monitor policy enactment and enforcement
Review policies and retains knowledge where appropriate
Refer to manager issues that are outside the realm of their work (i.e. patient payment, etc.)
Provide internal management to a specific clinic site
Provide physical presence around all managed modules
Supervise the daily operational functions of patient access representatives in the clinical site
Ensure daily deposits are balanced and signed by employee
Review schedule daily to determine staffing needs or works through manager to fill in work gaps
Report issues and concerns regarding office operations and make suggestions for employee work reassignments to the site manager
Staff shortages, staff skills needed, cross training, volume of work, training needs, etc.
Report on-site accidents and incidents and assists with completing required incident report

There is also a tremendous amount of research done, due to not always having correct insurance information, correct patient information, or correct information to allow claims to “go out” as a clean claim on the first attempt.
Job Duties :
The A/R Follow-up Representative is responsible for proper and timely billing as it relates to ECUP professional medical claims, follow up and collection of revenues from third party insurance companies. The A/R Follow-up Representative is responsible for reviewing and resolving all accounts. Additionally, this position may be assigned work relating to account receivables for our Third-Party Payors in the areas of claims submission, accounts and denial resolution and identify trends to reach key performance indicators (KPIs). Employees must be knowledgeable of compliance trends as it relates to billing and reimbursement and assist in the prevention of potential errors that could be considered fraudulent or abusive by a third-party payer. Employees serve as ECUP revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty when third party payer on-site meetings are conducted and serve as ECUP revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty in clinical departmental coding and PAS meetings as needed.
