MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Provides timely and clear communication regarding test schedules, procedures, and updates.
• Coordinates and maintains the EIPA test schedule and online reservation catalog
• Monitors and processes incoming performance and written test files and ensures test administrators adhere to established testing protocols and guidelines.
• Communicates effectively with raters, test candidates and test administrators regarding test logistics, updates, and instructions
• Receives, organizes, and processes test files from test administrators or testing platform
• Safeguards confidentiality and security of test materials during processing.
• Maintains databases containing test-related information, including candidate records, test results, and administrative data. Ensures data accuracy, integrity, and security protocols are upheld.
• Processes and mails test reports, materials, and certificates
• Supports and implements validation research studies by providing necessary data and assistance to researchers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to operate a wide variety of computer software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to work well with diverse professional and support staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Close attention to details.
• Good math aptitude.
• Flexibility in duties performed.
• * Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to create original correspondence and edit written materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with Deaf culture preferred.
• Research assistance experience preferred.

• EIPA 4.0 or higher, Utah Professional Certificate or National Certification recognized by the Utah Interpreter Program. May give consideration to candidates with EIPA rating 3.5-3.9 or State Novice Certification.

• techniques and methods of teaching deaf and hearing impaired students
• culture in the deaf community, especially as it relates to education
• communicate fluently in American Sign Language and other sign systems

DUTIES:
1. Provide receptive and expressive interpreting and /or transliterating in the K-12 educational setting.
2. Assist students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing to develop the necessary skills to participate successfully in the mainstream setting.
3. Participate in in-servicing faculty and students, as necessary.
4. Read and respond to email communication on daily basis.
5. Attend scheduled Deaf/ASL Education staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Civil Service eligibility as Interpreter for the Deaf: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
A. Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in providing American Sign Language interpretation services, OR
B. Possession of a National InterpreterCertificate (NIC)*recognized by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, OR
C. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's or bachelor's degree in American Sign Language Interpretation or a closely related field, OR
D. An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
• Must submit copy of certificate with application.

NOTE: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Strongly Preferred:
2. Bachelor's degree from an Interpreter Education Program or in a closely related field.
3. Demonstration of fluency in ASL and English and ability to process and interpret information effectively.
4. Documented score of 3.5 or above on the EIPA Performance Assessment and passing the EIPA Written Assessment preferred, or hold RID NIC, CI or CT certification. Or within the first three (3) years of employment, agreement to achieve passing score on the EIPA Written Assessment and scoring a 3.5 or above on the EIPA Performance Assessment.
5. Excellent skills in the areas of communication, flexibility, and diplomacy.
6. Experience in support services programs with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred.
