Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field. Equivalent education or experience considered.
• Health Certificate on file in the Central Office.

Essential Functions:
• Coordinate and supervise financial operations to ensure efficient and lawful functioning of the school district.
• Coordinate the preparation of an annual budget which reflects accurate and sufficient resources to implement the educational objectives of the district.
• Develop and maintain departmental budgets and building budgets.
• Provide regular updates/reports during the Board of Education meetings.
• Maintain internal financial controls and audits.
• Prepare reports and maintain records required by statute.
• Audit all bills and claims, and process for payment after formal Board of Education approval.
• Maintain records that properly reveal all receipts and expenditures.
• Evaluate divisional services and personnel.
• Ensure that appropriate business services are provided to all schools within the district.
• Oversee the day to day operations within the business department. (payroll, accounts payable, etc.)
• Prepare local, state and federal financial statistical reports.
• Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at Southside Community Development & Housing Corporation (SCDHC) located in Richmond, VA. SCDHC creates viable, thriving, and sustainable communities while providing residential and commercial development, homeownership education, financial counseling, employment services, and supportive programs to predominantly low-income Black and Latinx families. As the oldest historically Black-led, affordable housing non-profit in Central VA, SCHDC has had significant success in advancing Black homeownership and rebuilding disinvested neighborhoods including the development of 750+ units of affordable homeownership and rental housing for low-income families and seniors. However, considerable investment is needed to provide safeguards against displacement in Richmond’s rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods and, as a response, SCHDC plans to grow its capacity as a nonprofit housing developer of affordable single- and multi-family units. SCHDC is looking for a detail-oriented individual to serve as the Emporia Pathways VISTA to address the needs of Emporia residents by assisting SCDHC with the development of new affordable housing, the implementation of a supportive Financial Opportunity Center services, and HUD-approved Housing Counseling. This position is part of SCDHC’s Emporia Pathways program, which is a new initiative to expand our housing development and supportive services to Emporia.

Member Duties : The VISTA will identify resources related to affordable housing development funds, including grants, strengthen tracking tools for funding opportunities and deadlines to improve efficiency, and collaborate with the Fund Development Officer on funding applications that will support existing development projects and expand SCDHC’s single and multi-family development capacity. The VISTA will expand resident services by enhancing community outreach and data collection strategies at SCDHC’s properties to assess the effectiveness of current programs. In addition, they will coordinate resident services based on the stated needs of residents, available SCDHC and partner resources, and funding availability. The VISTA will also identify technical assistance training to improve SCDHC’s understanding of affordable housing development best practices, opportunities to leverage funds, and the requirements for becoming a Certified Organization for Resident Engagement & Services (CORES).
