Staff Product Manager - Caching Infrastructure

The Infrastructure Services product team at Fastly is responsible for the imagination, design, development, and deployment of the cutting-edge, innovative technologies and products that form the core of Fastly's infrastructure and the solid foundation on which Fastly's leading products are built. We are looking for a Staff Product Manager to join the team, taking ownership of Caching and Storage Infrastructure at Fastly. Caching and Storage is at the very heart of Fastly's infrastructure and is a key motivator for our customers to select Fastly as their edge provider platform. Success in this role requires solving complex problems with extensive technical knowledge, closely collaborating with business and engineering partners across Fastly, and employing strong interpersonal skills. This role reports to the VP, Product, Infrastructure and Network Services.

What You'll Do
• Lead the imagination, design, development, and deployment – both product and technical – of Caching and Storage Infrastructure products at Fastly
• Build trusted relationships with engineering and product teams, and employ them to imagine, prioritize, build, and deploy these products
• Identify and build the telemetry, tooling and controls that are needed to fully define and articulate the long term vision for Caching and Storage Infrastructure at Fastly
• Define and monitor product success metrics using data driven goals
• Own all product, pricing, costing, and packaging decisions for your product line
• Be the subject matter expert and evangelist for these technologies
• Constantly balance our customers’ interests, making and influencing decisions about product features and functionality

Basic Qualifications

What We're Looking For
• You have 5+ years of experience in a technical role related to systems, networks, cloud services, content distribution networks or related areas
• You have 5+ years of experience of relevant product management experience
• You have a solid track record of delivering large scale infrastructure products to a global customer base
• You are highly technical, combined with a keen interest in delivering solutions that positively impact Fastly's business while solving tough challenges facing our customers
• You have a solid grasp of contemporary network and infrastructure trends and a reasonable grasp of distributed systems trends
• You like working on challenging problems in highly collaborative environments, where the strength of your argument and the depth of your expertise has a real impact on the trajectory and direction of the technologies and products

Preferred Qualifications
• You have deep technical expertise in Internet technologies / standards / protocols such as IPv4, IPv6, QUIC, TCP, UDP, TLS, HTTP, DNS, BGP
• You have been an operator or architect of a large scale, globally distributed services such as a content distribution network, HTTP accelerator, or a block storage system
• You are familiar with the business aspects of operating globally distributed, highly available and high capacity networks or cloud services

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:
• 7+ years progressive experience as a Salesforce Architect, Admin, Developer or similar role and equivalent experience with 2+ years experience specifically as a Salesforce CPQ Admin, Engineer or Architect.
• Deep understanding of CPQ concepts such as MDQ, product rules, price actions, and associated automations related to opportunity, contract, and subscription management.
• Ability to lead several ongoing Salesforce.com customization projects from end-to-end, including gathering requirements, solution design and development, and finally working with internal partners to roll out the solution to their teams.

• Ability to manage timelines, communicate delays, and clarify ambiguous requirements.

• Hands-on project work performing Lightning Component, Visualforce or Apex development.

Senior Software Engineer - Core Compute

The Core Compute team builds the Compute@Edge platform, Fastly’s new way to run serverless code with fast startup times and strong isolation guarantees. Leveraging the WebAssembly standards and toolchains, the team develops a high-scale daemon that safely hosts customers’ code and connects to a large and growing variety of Fastly back-end services.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join this multifaceted team and help scale our hosting infrastructure. In addition to nuts-and-bolts networking and systems-level work, this role will involve cross-team collaboration, and designing high quality APIs for our customers to use services developed by other teams. There is also ample opportunity to contribute to open source projects (like Wasmtime) that are key parts of the Compute@Edge story.

What You'll Do
• Write Rust code that handles host concerns like back pressure, resource limits, and interactions with other services
• Collaborate with other teams at Fastly on interfaces to Compute@Edge services
• Design and implement both low- and high-level APIs for interacting with edge services
• Analyze and address performance and stability issues to meet high scale requirements
• Contribute to the Rust and WebAssembly open source ecosystems

The ExecuteD team builds the Compute@Edge platform, Fastly’s new way to run serverless code with fast startup times and strong isolation guarantees. Senior Program Manager - Technical EnablementIn this newly created role, the Senior Program Manager reports to the Director of Technical Enablement and will be responsible for managing programs and leading project initiatives that ensure our Client Services (CS) teams are always ready to assist customers with the right information, right on time.

As an integral part of the Enablement team and hands-on key contributor, the opportunity for impact is huge. By working closely with Product, Operations, Marketing and CS Teams to manage short and long-term projects, this role will bring together team partners to align on technical launches, training, content management and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will be a master at operational planning, facilitation, coordination and communication with a proven track record of exceptional problem solving and the technical curiosity necessary to understand Fastly’s product from end to end. An advanced ability to “connect the dots” and influence action and accountability will definitely add value.

What You'll Do

• Manage the initiation and planning of programs and projects for the purpose of enabling and educating teams to execute on the core aspects of their jobs
• Build strategic partnerships and act as the primary resource on projects requiring organizational interdependencies
• Actively engage in operational product release plans to align activities, updates and trainings with roadmaps and internal-facing initiatives
• Provide thought-leadership to identify gaps, assess needs and determine priorities
• Contribute to project deliverables and design frameworks related to content lifecycle, system roll-outs, scheduling and moderating calls with subject matter experts
• Facilitate meetings focused on solving complex challenges and identifying and responding to priorities requiring project design, implementation and tracking
• Drive consistent processes to ensure post-sales support readiness
• Report on concurrent tasks, timelines and deliverables, ensuring all milestones are met
• Analyze pre-project data and conduct retrospective analysis to identify key success factors and recommend actionable process improvements
• Own communication plans as appropriate for each project and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and intended audience

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

• 8-10+ years in Project Management or similar role
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Technical Training, Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business
• PMP, PgMP, TPM and/or Agile certification
• Experience in a complex and technically dynamic environment, ideally within a high-growth SaaS company
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and interpret requirements into deliverable solutionsComfortable driving clarity and accountability in times of ambiguity
• Self-directed and willing to take initiative without explicit direction
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage priorities to deliver projects and programs on time
• Conscientious attention to details, timelines and results
• Excellent verbal and written skills to clearly communicate across levels of the organization and lead initiatives by influence
• Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills
• Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence and G-Suite a plus

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $97,070 to $142,750.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
