Major Duties :

As an Electronics Technician you will:

Qualifications and Evaluations

Specialized Experience (SE):

In order for you to qualify based on SE alone, you must possess the SE below for the various GS levels. Please ensure all SE can be identified in your resume.

GS 07: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 05 grade level, as defined below:
• Performed basic electronics techniques to trouble shoot and resolve routine technical problems.
• Communicated with officials and peers to perform assignments.

GS 12: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 11 level, as defined below:
• Provided technical guidance and suggesting modifications related to the production and installation of custom components.
• Planned, designed, and carried out technical projects independently while coordinating with other technicians, engineers, or outside agency personnel as necessary.
• Engineered concepts to develop new methods, approaches, and procedures to adapt or modify equipment to meet complex video surveillance needs.
GS 13: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 12 level, as defined below:

• Assist higher grade technician(s) during installation, maintenance and removal of equipment and associated systems by performing basic test and maintenance checks developing skills necessary for performing advanced maintenance tasks.

• Make appropriate notation in equipment maintenance log regarding maintenance performed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary and Compensation: New Special Agents, called New Agent Trainees or NATs, are paid on the GL schedule for Federal Law Enforcement Officers (LEO), beginning as a GL-10, step 1, while in training at Quantico. In addition to the base salary, NATs will also get locality pay for the Washington, D.C. area plus availability pay, which is 25% of the base and locality pay (the calculation is 25% x [base + locality]).

• Perform installation, maintenance, and operational testing required to maintain the Bureau's communication and intrusion systems in optimum condition.
• Perform maintenance and service functions required to obtain optimum operational capability of a wide variety of complex equipment incorporated into the FM radio, radio teletype, secure telephone, data and teletype, and intrusion Systems.

DUTIES

Candidates must:
• Adhere to strict standards of conduct.
• Undergo a rigorous background investigation, credit checks and a polygraph in order to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
• Pass all physical fitness requirements; must be physically fit to complete training at the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA, and maintain a high level of fitness throughout your career.
• Pass a medical exam, which includes, but is not limited to, meeting visual and hearing standards.
• Successfully complete approximately 19 weeks of employment as a Special Agent trainee, while housed at the FBI Academy at Quantico.
• Upon graduation from the FBI Academy, be available to transfer to one of the FBI's 56 Field Offices, including San Juan, Puerto Rico or remote resident agencies (satellite offices) to meet the needs of the FBI. Special Agents rarely return to their processing office. Applicants should ensure that their families are prepared for and support this move.
• Throughout your career, be available for temporary duty assignments anywhere in the world, on either a temporary or a long-term basis.
• Work a minimum of a 50-hour workweek, which may include irregular hours, and be on-call 24/7, including holidays and weekends.
