Position Summary and Purpose:

The Guitar Inspector is required to process customer returns in system using scanner to process and confirm RMA's. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle grip, grasp, feel; reach with hands and arms. Incumbent must thoroughly inspect return product-(Guitars and Amps) each returned unit requires detailed trouble shooting and quality to identify possible mechanical or cosmetic defects. Employee is required to fully understand product specifications referencing to product criteria to perform necessary adjustments, minor repairs and tune test product to meet specifications. Use of hand tools are required for the job- caliper, file, truss rod wrench, screw driver...etc. Attention to detail is necessary deliver a quality.

Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions:
• Scan label in system and verify shipping label match RMA match product serial number. Enter product diagnoses in system and confirm Return Merchandise Authorization, along with merchandise handling duties.
• Place product on work station for a thorough inspection. Inspection for cosmetic finish flaws, sharp uneven surface, test for sound deficiencies, replace damaged parts, and adjust components to meet product criteria specifications.
• File bone nut slots to specifications using correct file size. Use sandpaper to sand bone nut to a smooth radius finish Use hand tools- screw driver, filer, caliper, and powered tools to perform necessary minor repairs. Use ruler and caliper to capture radius measurements.
• Product that requires special repairs will be repackaged and staged on pallet to ship out to facility that will perform repairs. Tune test guitar for playability and intonation. Assure all component parts are installed correctly and meet finish criteria.
• Make necessary adjustments to component parts-bridge/saddle, nut, neck, and pickups...etc. Hand feel product and visually inspect product for any damage scratches that don't pass criteria. Wipe product with cloth and buff/polish guitars that need a smooth shine finish.

Business Knowledge, Skill Requirements, and Desired Attributes:
• Strong guitar building, woodworking and finishing skills, in addition to a full understanding of raw material specifications.
• Excellent product knowledge of all models in current and past production.
• Knowledge and skills with fret leveling/dressing.
• Guitar playing background.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with use of calipers, micrometer, digital multimeter, guitar building hand tools, feeler gauges, soldering equipment, and buffing wheel.
• Supervisory Duties:
• No supervisory duties required.

Experience Requirements:

1-2 years' experience and/or training, preferably in production inspection and guitar playing experience.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

The Sander will work exclusively in the sanding pre/post paint production process. The Sander will be responsible for the sanding and semi-finishing of electric guitar bodies. Sanding will be done in an up/down motion and counterclockwise motion; more specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for manually sanding guitars, quality control of production, make very minor corrections to irregularities and cleanup of immediate work area.

The Sander/Buffer will sand/buff guitar necks and bodies to product specifications to ensure quality finished product. The employee will be required to use hand tools (manual air sander, buffing machine, multiple sandpaper grade...etc.) to perform essential job functions. Employee is regularly required to stand, occasionally walk, use hands to handle, grip, grasp, and feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move guitar necks and/or bodies to next workstation process. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision to inspect necks, bodies and paint coating for contamination or damage. Perform repairs as needed to remove finish imperfections as assigned. Ability to adhere to procedures for different topcoat finishes.
