Foothill college is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and collegial
full-time English instructor with a strong commitment to the
mission of California's community colleges. The successful
candidate will teach the core sequence of composition, critical
reading, and critical thinking courses (and related support
courses) and may teach courses in the instructor's areas of
expertise and/or interests: literature, creative writing,
journalism, and/or technical writing. We invite applicants with
experience and interest in elevating student voices on campus,
including via student journalism. Teaching assignments will be
primarily on-campus, with some online and hybrid, and faculty are
expected to engage in professional contributions on the Foothill
campus throughout the academic year.
The successful applicant will have credentials and experience in
composition and reading theory, with an excitement for helping us
meet the challenges and leverage the opportunities of a 21st
century education in writing and literary studies. Faculty support
student success through the application and understanding of
materials, pedagogies, assessment methods, and feedback techniques
