DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the primary role of the fulltime Veterinary Technology Instructor is to teach veterinary technology students on various subjects in lecture and laboratory settings. These veterinary technicians in training must learn both didactic and skills-based information, with an emphasis on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge. Responsibilities will include demonstrating competency and comfortability teaching lecture and hands-on lab courses with live animals which may include but are not limited to: anatomy and physiology, radiology, beginning and advanced nursing skills, anesthesia and surgery, large animal skills, pharmacology, emergency medicine, animal behavior, and other topics. The ideal candidate will have the ability to implement multiple active learning strategies.and the ability to positively interact with a diverse student population using a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion lens. Anability to bring real world experiences and techniques into the classroom is expected. The program philosophy is one of collaboration among faculty to teach critical thinking skills in students using multiple modalities in teaching. The program has an animal colony including large and small animals, a clinical laboratory, surgical suite, and a radiology suite with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and ultrasound. The ideal candidate will be able to transfer veterinary clinical experience to the classroom and help students understand the underlying reasons for their training. The ideal full-time instructor will be experienced in performing or participating in small animal surgery and dentistry and interested in helping to develop the next generation of veterinary nurses.

Additional non-teaching responsibilities will include some participation in the following activities:
• Animal care
Overseeing care of program animals including but not limited to evaluation of program animals, overseeing day to day husbandry of the program animals as well as the students who are caring for the program animals.
• Student essential skills
Overseeing essential skills assessments. The AVMA-CVTEA, our accreditor, requires that each student demonstrate competency in over 100 essential skills.
• Facility oversight
Overseeing program animal housing. Managing routine maintenance for essential equipment, maintaining inventory for laboratory classes and animal care
• Participating in program specific committees and regulatory compliance (Advisory Board, IACUC, USDA, CVTEA, California VMB)

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also can serve on district and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities and outreach. We are looking for a dynamic educator who is sensitive to students’ different learning styles and educational needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Duties and Responsibilities

Foothill college is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and collegial full-time English instructor with a strong commitment to the mission of California's community colleges. The successful candidate will teach the core sequence of composition, critical reading, and critical thinking courses (and related support courses) and may teach courses in the instructor's areas of expertise and/or interests: literature, creative writing, journalism, and/or technical writing. We invite applicants with experience and interest in elevating student voices on campus, including via student journalism. Teaching assignments will be primarily on-campus, with some online and hybrid, and faculty are expected to engage in professional contributions on the Foothill campus throughout the academic year.

The successful applicant will have credentials and experience in composition and reading theory, with an excitement for helping us meet the challenges and leverage the opportunities of a 21st century education in writing and literary studies. The Foothill College Photography Department seeks a photographic generalist with broad knowledge of art, commercial and journalistic photography who has the skills to play a leadership role in the department and teach a broad range of courses. Join the Foothill College Photography Department and advance digital and visual literacy through the study of photographic techniques and photographic history. This vibrant department, part of the Fine Arts and Communication Division of Foothill College, works with students pursuing photography as a career and students participating in photography classes as a general education option supporting a wide range of majors. Required is the ability to teach all levels of darkroom, digital, documentary, and studio photography to photography majors and non-majors. This faculty member will have a demonstrated knowledge of photography's contemporary theories and histories and strong proficiency with digital and analog printing techniques. The candidate would actively participate in departmental and institutional service, including committee work and academic support services such as curricular coordination and development, curricular assessment, and student advising. Teaching assignments will include both in-person instruction at Foothill campus and possible online instruction. Faculty are expected to engage in professional contributions on the Foothill campus throughout the academic year.

Be part of the equity journey of many students as they learn to use image making and photography to tell their stories and the stories of their communities, as well as future photographers on their career and technical educational journey to careers in photography.

Skills should include but not be limited to: traditional black and white, digital photographic processes including Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, medium and large format processes, the history of photography, photography in social practice, photojournalism, studio lighting, and visual storytelling. This position may require evening and/or Saturday hours.

HIRING RANGE: $67,090.00 - $110,186.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
