We are a digital publication that covers consumer healthcare in a clear, concise, and well-researched way that facilitates better decision-making. Our coverage areas include Clinical, Pharmacy, Health Personal Finance, Health Advocacy, Well-being, Pet Health, and Patient Experiences. Affordability and accessibility are core issues for us--and we routinely cover cost and insurance coverage, as well as the social determinants of health.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are core values for our publication. Through building a diverse workforce we will be able to provide the best health information for a wide variety of communities, with a particular focus on those who are underserved. Your participation in our internship program not only enriches our team but helps us elicit new areas of coverage for our health content.
As part of our process, we do extensive fact-checking, reference formatting, and quality assurance work. This internship will primarily be oriented around these tasks, but will also offer additional opportunities to learn about various aspects of health publishing--including the potential to get a few byline opportunities of your own. Our previous interns have copy edited articles and written about a wide range of topics, from debunked health trends, to why chocolate is bad for dogs, to the benefits of hiking.
Our team includes medical and pharmacy editors who are licensed physicians and pharmacists, as well as experienced journalists and content creators. We also work closely with our newsletter, design, research, and video teams.
We would love to teach you about publishing--and to learn more about your interests, skills and priorities. Join us!
Application process: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis for the July 2023 class of GoodRx Editorial Internship. You will receive any offer notification by the end of May.
Duties: Our interns’ primary responsibilities include fact-checking and adding references to articles. Other responsibilities will vary and may include completing administrative tasks, pitching story ideas to editors, and assisting with the interview process for the next cohort of Editorial interns.
We are looking to hire three interns for this cohort, each with a particular interest in one of the following focus areas:
• Copy editing - editing articles for tone, readability, and adherence to GoodRx’s style guide
• Writing - working with assigning editors to research and write articles for topics spanning all aspects of healthcare, with a primary focus on our Well-being content
• Operations/SEO - supporting the Operations and SEO teams through a variety of projects and learning about the rapidly-growing field of search engine optimization for digital media
All interns will have the opportunity to learn about the publishing process and explore roles and responsibilities outside of their core focus areas!
Eligibility: Applicants can include part-time college and graduate students, alumni, and individuals early in their careers along with career changers. Emphasis will be given to applicants who add new and distinct perspectives to our work culture and our editorial product.
Duration: Six months, from July through the end of December. In addition, several of our former interns have continued contributing to the team on a freelance basis after the conclusion of their time with GoodRx.
Hours: Part-time; we expect our interns to work 26 to 29 hours per week during Pacific working hours.
Pay: $27 per hour
Location: This position can be based on-site in our Santa Monica, San Francisco, or New York offices, work remotely, or include a hybrid of office and remote work.
FAQ: Is this internship suitable for Doctor of Pharmacy students?
We will not consider Pharmacy students for this internship. Licensed pharmacists or recent PharmD graduates who are looking to gain writing experience should consider applying to our Freelance Writer, Pharmacy position.
