• Develop and implement effective quality improvement strategies, in line with national and local standards and requirements, to ensure that the trust continues to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Provide expert advice and support to Directorates in the identification, prioritisation, planning and delivery of quality improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including patients and staff to ensure that quality improvement initiatives are aligned with their needs and expectations.
• Keep up-to-date with developments in quality improvement and best practice and ensure that the trust is at the forefront of quality improvement initiatives.
• Take responsibility for our systems and processes for continuous quality improvement
• To lead, role model and build the momentum for Quality Improvement throughout the organisation

We are the largest centre in Europe for the care of inherited cardiovascular disease in children, looking after over 6,000 outpatients per year, and are part of the UCLP Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases service. The service at GOSH is part of the Cardiac Unit at Great Ormond... Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and includes disease-specific clinics for cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, aortopathy syndromes and rare diseases with cardiovascular involvement. Families are seen at Great Ormond Street for screening, diagnosis, evaluation and management.

The Fellow will contribute to the investigation and management, including the use of novel and emerging therapies, of all patients referred with inherited cardiovascular diseases. The majority of the work involves assessment and detailed investigation of the children and their families, including echocardiographic studies (after suitable training, if required) and ECGs. There will be ample opportunity for clinical research leading to a higher degree. The Fellow team comprises 3 clinical fellows, rotating 4-monthly through the cardiomyopathy, inherited arrhythmia and aortopathy firms, in addition to visiting fellows and clinical research fellows.
The Fellow will liaise with other departments such as metabolic medicine, neuromuscular, rheumatology and clinical genetics. They will work closely with the electrophysiology team given the need for cardiac device therapy in carefully selected patients and the transplant team as some children may eventually require this form of treatment.

However, you will be given training and support in our specialist skills and in peri-operative care. This is a dynamic and highly varied... department which consists of 3 operating suites and runs a total of 24 sessions per week; providing a wide range of procedures, many of which are often highly innovative and complex. The patient cohort is from all specialties throughout the hospital for ages 0-18, and procedures include central venous access device insertion, biopsy, airway intervention, feeding device insertion, vascular intervention, angiography and angioplasty. We run a combination of GA and non-GA lists.
• To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families.
• To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner
• To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources
• To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice
• To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse

The post-holders primary role will be to provide technical support within the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, as well as assisting the laboratory manager with compliance with the BSQR (2005) and ISO:15189 (2012).

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified BMS in the Blood Transfusion department within the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. The post-holders primary role will be to provide technical support within the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, as well as assisting the laboratory manager with compliance with the BSQR (2005) and ISO:15189 (2012).
Training and maintaining quality standards are a vital part of the role, including incident investigation for both low level and Datix/SABRE reportable events. We have recently developed a training programme with the Trust Simulation team for MHP, and the post holder will work with both the Transfusion Practitioner and Laboratory Manager to develop this programme further.
You will cover aspects of the Transfusion Practitioner role for annual leave (including incident reporting, ward teaching, clinical queries) in conjunction with other members of the laboratory senior BMS team.
The team... also have a presence on the Bone Marrow Transplantation MDT, working with them to assess patients who may be ready for a blood group change following transplantation.
Applicants are invited from HCPC registered biomedical scientists with a proven post registration experience in Blood Transfusion. Applicants should also have obtained or be working towards a higher qualification in Transfusion Science (eg MSc in Transfusion and Transplantation, FIMBS/HSD in Transfusion Science).
• To undertake laboratory techniques to a high standard of technical excellence in line with department standard operating procedures. This includes troubleshooting of assays and procedures
• To operate and maintain (where appropriate) laboratory equipment in prescribed manner, including minor equipment repairs, the management of preventative maintenance records for all equipment, and the assessment of supplier reports for compliance
• To authorise and report results of investigations, to interpret results to assist diagnosis
• To communicate with the service users regarding issues relating to the supply or storage of blood and components where this deviates from the standard procedure, including the use of Blood Track
• To take responsibility for ensuring that the internal quality control compliance is maintained, as well as basic analyser maintenance and other tasks performed by colleagues
• To perform impact assessments in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager and/or Quality Lead where breaches of quality standards may impact patient safety eg temperature deviation or IQC failure
• To plan and take responsibility for the efficient and effective organisation of work and staff within the laboratory
• To supervise junior members of staff to undertake the technical work, ensuring effective management of the staff within the section by supporting with any technical or scientific issues that arise

Training and maintaining quality standards are a vital part of the role, including incident investigation for both low level and Datix/SABRE reportable events. We have recently developed a training programme with the Trust Simulation team for MHP, and the post holder will work with both the Transfusion Practitioner and Laboratory Manager to develop this programme further.
You will cover aspects of the Transfusion Practitioner role for annual leave (including incident reporting, ward teaching, clinical queries) in conjunction with other members of the laboratory senior BMS team.
The team... also have a presence on the Bone Marrow Transplantation MDT, working with them to assess patients who may be ready for a blood group change following transplantation.
Applicants are invited from HCPC registered biomedical scientists with a proven post registration experience in Blood Transfusion. Applicants should also have obtained or be working towards a higher qualification in Transfusion Science (eg MSc in Transfusion and Transplantation, FIMBS/HSD in Transfusion Science).
• To undertake laboratory techniques to a high standard of technical excellence in line with department standard operating procedures. This includes troubleshooting of assays and procedures
• To operate and maintain (where appropriate) laboratory equipment in prescribed manner, including minor equipment repairs, the management of preventative maintenance records for all equipment, and the assessment of supplier reports for compliance
• To authorise and report results of investigations, to interpret results to assist diagnosis
• To communicate with the service users regarding issues relating to the supply or storage of blood and components where this deviates from the standard procedure, including the use of Blood Track

Great Ormond Street Hospital invites applicants of ST 2-3 level for 6-month posts in paediatric cardiology. The post would be well-suited – but not limited – to junior doctors-in-training wanting to have a period of out-of-programme experience. It may be possible to count this placement towards your training, dependent on the completion of Level 1 curriculum competencies.
Your main role would be to cover a busy general cardiology ward and cardiology day ward. During your time, you would also be encouraged to attend all areas of the unit, including cardiac theatres, the catheter laboratory and echo department. There is a formal teaching programme specifically for SHOs, as well as registrar teaching within the department. There are also several courses available, which may be prioritised and subsidised for GOS staff (including the echo and morphology courses). It is possible for a dedicated trainee to... learn the basics of clinical echo during these placements. The position would undoubtedly be useful in preparation for an application to paediatric cardiology training at ST4.
Applicants must be registered with the GMC or eligible for registration.

Scope of the role
The main role would be to cover a busy general cardiology ward and cardiology day ward. During your time, you would also be encouraged to attend all areas of the unit, including cardiac theatres, the catheter laboratory and echo department. There is a formal teaching programme specifically for SHOs, as well as registrar teaching within the department. There are also several courses available, which may be prioritised and subsidised for GOS staff (including the echo and morphology courses). It is possible for a dedicated trainee to learn the basics of clinical echo during these placements. The position would undoubtedly be useful in preparation for an application to paediatric cardiology training at ST4.

Great Ormond Street Hospital invites applicants of ST 2-3 level for 6-month posts in paediatric cardiology. The post would be well-suited – but not limited – to junior doctors-in-training wanting to have a period of out-of-programme experience. It may be possible to count this placement towards your training, dependent on the completion of Level 1 curriculum competencies.

Main duties of the job
• Responsible for the provision of a comprehensive and... quality dietetic FEDS service for both inpatients and outpatients working to agreed standards, policies and procedures
• Using specialised knowledge to manage a caseload in feeding and eating disorders
• Assessment of the patient's needs and making clinical decisions regarding the necessary nutritional support and dietary interventions for all children in the caseload taking into account their diet history, growth and biochemical parameters and any relevant drug treatments
• Comparing normal nutritional requirements in childhood and interpreting these for the sick child according to the disease process to initiate and maintain a treatment plan
• attendance at ward rounds to take part in the decision-making about the patient's clinical care.
• Responsible for maintenance of patient records to comply with departmental standards
• Communicating complex information regarding dietary management to the multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
