In this role, you will have experience working PHP and Laravel in concert with external data sources. You will also have extensive experience with supporting technologies like MongoDB and Elasticsearch. A typical development sprint at GovExec involves reviewing feature requests and bug reports, consolidating each into detailed requirement definitions, writing code, and writing tests. You will work with other developers and project managers to help move this process forward.

As a valued member of the software development team, we want you to constantly bring new ideas and technologies into the process. Would you like to use a new charting library? Push messaging platform? Event-loop based cat feeder? Bring it!

Responsibilities
• Working with the GovTribe Product Manager, Customer Success Managers (CSMs) and GovTribe leadership to define and prioritize work for the upcoming sprint.
• Working directly with the Product Manager to convert feature requests into detailed requirement definitions.
• During the sprint, writing code in feature branches, iteratively pushing commits as you make progress, and reviewing work with other team members.
• Develop and maintain web scraping programs and scripts to gather data from various web pages.
• Manage and analyze data sets obtained through web scraping, ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Test and troubleshoot web scraping processes to identify and resolve any issues or errors.
• Creating test coverage that will run via our continuous integration system.
• At the end of the sprint, reviewing your progress with other members of the team.
• Once code is in production, monitor our bug tracking system to check for errors.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
• Exceptional coding skills in PHP 8+.
• 5-7 years of full time, software development experience, that includes:
• 2+ years experience working on full stack web applications.
• 1+ year building website scrapers.
• 1+ year experience with Laravel 9, 10, 11.
• 1+ year experience with MongoDB.
• 1+ year experience with Elasticsearch.
• Ability to communicate and form effective working relationships with non-technical product experts, such as business leaders or product managers

In this role, you will be a critical player in defining the customer-facing user experience and optimizing our internal platforms. You will take requirements from the product team for new features and work collaboratively with both product managers & developers to create wireframes and mockups. Once those have been finalized, you will create complete designs that can then be converted into live actual pages. You will report directly to the Senior Product Manager for our media publications.
Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively to create wireframes and/or mockups for web pages and applications
• Design layouts for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices
• Create and maintain design systems for our media publications, data platforms such as Forecast International and Washington Technology, and internal CMSs
• Collaborate with product managers to manage and prioritize design projects
• Work with product managers to conduct user research and/or testing
• Work with developers to implement visual elements of websites and platforms
• Research and evaluate new design trends
• Establish and maintain design standards and best practices
Qualifications
• Familiar with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and frameworks such as Bootstrap
• Experience working with CMS platforms
• Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience as a product designer or in a related field, such as UX or web design
• Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
• Proficiency with design hand-off tools, particularly Figma and/or Adobe Creative Cloud
