OPPORTUNITY...

The Curriculum Specialist in History will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program at multiple schools.

Essential Responsibilities

> Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade level CCSS and CA HSS Framework-aligned history-social science instruction to ALL students, including English Learners, Standard English Learners, Gifted and Talented Students, and Students with Disabilities.

> Promote standards-based instruction by providing demonstration lessons, focused observations, and professional development on research-based instructional strategies and classroom practices and provide opportunities for teacher reflection.

> Assist with curriculum planning and development to ensure mastery of the CCSS standards and GD selected curricular materials.

> Provide support and assistance to all school site history-social science teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program and benchmark assessments.

> Assist teachers with the diagnosis of student difficulties in history-social science through the use of student data and evidence and the planning of appropriate intervention strategies for diverse learners.

> Work collaboratively with the History-Social Science Team, school site administration and department chairs/ teacher leaders to plan and facilitate history-social science professional development.

> Collaborate with teachers and other members of the coaching team to develop history-social science curricular materials and benchmark assessments for use across the organization.

> Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program/Initiatives.

Qualifications

> You have at least 4 years teaching experience at the middle or high school level

> You have a bachelor’s degree plus successful completion of the CBEST and CSET examinations (a Master’s in Education (or related field) preferred)

> You have solid knowledge of subject matter including CA State Framework for History Social Science

> You have solid knowledge of adult learning theory and new teacher developmental needs

> You have excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential

> You have a valid CA Single Subject Credential in History

> You are expertise in adolescent literacy

> You possess both knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population (EL, SEL, SpEd, and gifted and talented)

> You are experienced in developing and facilitating professional development

> You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation
