The Curriculum Specialist in History will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program at multiple schools.
Essential Responsibilities
> Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade level CCSS and CA HSS Framework-aligned history-social science instruction to ALL students, including English Learners, Standard English Learners, Gifted and Talented Students, and Students with Disabilities.
> Promote standards-based instruction by providing demonstration lessons, focused observations, and professional development on research-based instructional strategies and classroom practices and provide opportunities for teacher reflection.
> Assist with curriculum planning and development to ensure mastery of the CCSS standards and GD selected curricular materials.
> Provide support and assistance to all school site history-social science teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program and benchmark assessments.
> Assist teachers with the diagnosis of student difficulties in history-social science through the use of student data and evidence and the planning of appropriate intervention strategies for diverse learners.
> Work collaboratively with the History-Social Science Team, school site administration and department chairs/ teacher leaders to plan and facilitate history-social science professional development.
> Collaborate with teachers and other members of the coaching team to develop history-social science curricular materials and benchmark assessments for use across the organization.
> Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Green Dot History-Social Science Program/Initiatives.
Qualifications
> You have at least 4 years teaching experience at the middle or high school level
> You have a bachelor’s degree plus successful completion of the CBEST and CSET examinations (a Master’s in Education (or related field) preferred)
> You have solid knowledge of subject matter including CA State Framework for History Social Science
> You have solid knowledge of adult learning theory and new teacher developmental needs
> You have excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
> You have a valid CA Single Subject Credential in History
> You are expertise in adolescent literacy
> You possess both knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population (EL, SEL, SpEd, and gifted and talented)
> You are experienced in developing and facilitating professional development
> You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
> You are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
> You will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
> You will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required)

Compensation

To ensure success as the Database Strategy and Operations Leader, you should possess extensive knowledge of database architecture, industry leading practices with extensive experience in a similar role. An outstanding Database Strategy and Operations Leader will be someone whose database management expertise translates into optimal database performance.
Responsibilities
• Enhances the scalability and performance of the existing database architecture.
• Develops database structures and features according to organizational needs.
• Protects data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures and controls.
• Conducts diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics.
• Develops procedures to ensure data integrity and quality.
• Prepares and presents system performance reports to Senior Leadership.
• Performs database maintenance, migration and upgrading hardware and software.
• Documents processes and complying with industry best practices in database management.
• Keeps up to date with developments and trends in database management and architecture.
• Presents recommendations for new database technologies.
• Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection.
• Ensures Database Administration team accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.
• Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.
• Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
• Selects, supervises, develops, trains and evaluates database administration teams
• Perform other duties as needed.
Required Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, information systems or information technology or equivalent of professional certification and experience
• 10+ years of experience in database administration/management
• 5+ years of experience in leading a team
• Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL)
• In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
• Knowledge of industry best practices in database management.
• Advanced analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to achieve mid-to long-term goals and strategic results
• Ability to interact and present to senior management, internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to influence policies, practices and produces in and out of job area
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
