Job summary
The Deputy Director (DD) will be a proven senior leader who will play a key role in the continued development and delivery of HMRC’s critical work with the largest businesses in the UK, will help build the capability and skills of our people, and will motivate our people to deliver great outcomes with our customers.
LB is responsible for HMRC’s work with the largest and most complex business customers; businesses which account for some 40% of HMRC’s annual revenues. In line with international best practice, we apply a cooperative compliance approach to the UK’s 2,000 largest businesses, which each have an allocated Customer Compliance Manager (CCM). Using this approach, we work intensively with these businesses and are actively investigating around half of them at any one time.
This is an exciting and challenging time to be part of Large Business. The taxation of multinationals remains the focus of keen media and Parliamentary interest. We are in the process of implementing a package of measures to increase large business tax compliance and transparency, including the legislative changes flowing from the OECD-led base erosion and profit shifting agenda. In addition we have recently implemented our new enhanced approach to risk assessment.
Job Description
As Deputy Director you will be one of the most senior tax leaders in the Department and will play a key part in leading delivery of high-quality tax compliance outcomes, both within the directorate, and also working alongside colleagues across HMRC. In addition, as part of HMRC’s senior leadership in London, the Deputy Director will be influential in moulding the future of the Department in Croydon and Stratford. Therefore, alongside strong leadership skills, the role requires excellent stakeholder management and a broad tax technical understanding.
The Deputy Director (DD) will be one of the most senior tax leaders in the Department and will play a key part in leading delivery of LB London performance measures in line with the LB business plan, with colleagues within the directorate, but also working alongside colleagues across HMRC. The DD will need to engage with CCG colleagues to influence and deliver cross-CCG initiatives and priorities.
Accountabilities:
• A member of the Large Business Leadership Team, contributing to the corporate and collective leadership of the directorate; developing, determining and leading LB strategic direction.
• Lead the LB London region, setting the strategic, inclusive cultural and behavioural direction to deliver LB objectives.
• As one of the department’s senior leaders, inspire people and help to build an inclusive culture within our regional centres and create a great place for all of our people to work.
• Play an active role as a senior leader in LB and across HMRC, setting strategic direction, driving innovation, leading capability building and taking specific responsibility for an LBLT portfolio.
• Ensure resources are deployed flexibly and effectively, in line with the highest priority risks and, working with other areas of LB, balance priorities effectively.
• Overall management responsibility for all staff, approx. 300, in their locations.
• Direct line management of SCS (PB1) Assistant Directors who have responsibility for key compliance work within LB and across CCG.

Hi there, i own 2 small UK LTD company (Backflip the world ltd and Kzu-Kzu ltd).
