Job Summary

Responsible for providing overall leadership, management and strategic planning for the Perioperative, Interventional and Perfusion departments, clinical services, programs and staff to ensure operational cost-effectiveness and efficiency, compliance with external regulatory, accrediting, and statutory requirements and that institutional goals, policies and objectives are met in providing quality services. Oversees the scheduling and works directly with the other Directors for supporting areas to maintain patient and efficiency flow. The Director is responsible for working with dyad partners on ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's strategic plan and goals/objectives with regard to patient care management, coordinating and evaluating program activities, business development, coordination and delivery of services, human resource management, fiscal management, equipment maintenance, quality of tests and procedures, staff competency, quality and performance improvement activities, and adherence to Joint commission accreditation requirements and Federal and State regulatory standards. The Director builds a strong and collaborative relationship with the physicians/staff and hospital colleagues, utilizing P-Cares standards.

Coordinates activities with other departments in areas of mutual concern. Establishes and implements processes to assure the integration/coordination of all services.
• Determines or recommends policies that guide and support the provision of quality services by analyzing all pertinent issues and information, assessing the impact of proposed policy on the provision of services to patients. Ensures that policies and procedures are compatible with the mission, goals and values of the hospital and meet external regulatory, accrediting and statutory requirements. Determines the resources necessary to implement such policy in order to ensure the cost-effective and efficient provision of services. Provides policy direction and interpretation to department managers in managing their respective areas of responsibility.
• Analyzes and develops proposals to resolve key operational challenges such as improvements in service, access, and capacity. Identifies opportunities to improve financial and operational performance. Monitors ongoing revenue and expenses for services for conformance to the approved budget, taking corrective action as needed for variances. Works collaboratively with other members of the management team in providing cost-effective and efficient operations.
• Determines program priorities by evaluating the needs of target populations and assessing the availability of human, fiscal and equipment resources, in order to implement policy and programs effectively. Works with VP on prioritizing operating and capital budget requests for services.
• Oversees and supports daily management activities and process improvement work, ensuring front line and physician involvement. Assists the Vice President and collaborates with physician leadership and line management in performing the short-term and long-term strategic planning, operational goals and business development functions for the Perioperative, Intervention and Perfusion Service areas/departments.
• Develops clinical service plans and annual work plans that contain goals and objectives, taking into account relevant financial, clinical and market data; clinical volume targets; and methods for evaluating performance to plans.
• Oversees the appropriate hiring of staff. Ensures that orientation, staff training and development programs are in place and provided to all staff. Responsible for the systematic evaluation of staff performance. Ensures personnel policies and procedures are followed and monitored. Interviews, selects, provides orientation and training for, and evaluates the performance of staff, including subordinate managers and supervisors. Recommends and/or approves disciplinary actions or responses to grievances.
• Creates a clear organizational vision and provides leadership in integrating programs and services with the hospital's primary functions by supporting organizational philosophy, goals, policies, mission, priorities and vision, and by delivering optimal quality health care services.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Broad and extensive and progressively responsible directly related work experience in administrative and/or managerial positions.

License/Certification: CA Registered Nurse (RN) within 3 Months of Hire.
