• Supervise the maintenance of logs, OSHA records and reports and legally required and necessary to identify specific problem areas in accident prevention. Give functional guidance to supervisors to assure thorough investigation and prompt reporting of accidents and fires.
• Responsible for administration of Workman's Compensation Claims. Supervise the processing of claims, approve medical service for industrial injuries, investigate specific cases to determine industrial liability, and report. Investigate and document all third-party claims arising out of accidents occurring to non-employees on company property.
• Develop, supervise, and coordinate Safety Training Programs mandated by Plant, company, corporate, and state or federal regulations.
• Supervise and coordinate HSE programs. Evaluate surveys and recommend corrective actions to assure safe and healthful working conditions throughout the plant. (i.e. hearing conservation, blood borne pathogens, air sampling, asbestos, personal protective equipment and others as required by standards and regulations)
• Responsible for administering and implementing the Safety Training Programs. Supervise training records on each employee, showing training program performance.
• Facilitate accident investigation; Work with site management to conduct timely and accurate incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Conduct process hazard analysis and site assessments (risk, training, environmental, regulatory and HSE) as needed.
• Proactively address safety issues and provide personal leadership through compliance with company policy, personal behavior and attitude.
• Prepare monthly HSE incident summaries, and/or support delegation of the same as required.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Maintain compliance with Third Party Administrator's ( ISNetWORLD, Avetta) sites for regional locations (including uploading safety documents, man hours and incident reports)
What we are looking for
• Education: Bachelor Degree. Preferably in Safety, Loss Control or related field. Related work experience may be substituted for some or all of required education.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years working experience in HSE, auditing, and the regulatory environment in the manufacturing industry.

Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) with a strong background in statistics and thermodynamics.

Summary:

As an HSE Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and expertise for all environmental, health and safety matters at the plant. Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state, and local agency regulations and implements best practices to continuously improve operations.
Responsibilities
• Plan, develop and coordinate all safety and environmental training and audits for employees
• Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements relating to health, safety and environmental issues as well as interfacing with same during inspections and investigations
• Manage Workers Compensation cases/issues regarding employees, third party administrators, state agency requirements, company attorneys and management; submit timely documentation/reports as required
• Monitor and ensure accident/incident investigations completed and appropriate follow-up/corrective actions implemented
• Provide health, safety and environmental guidance as well as monthly, semi-annual and annual performance statistics/ metrics to management
• Audit all Health, Environmental, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with company and government standards
• Develop and maintain relationships with government and regulatory personal
• Develop Training programs for internal staff
• Actively participate as a mentor to more junior staff within the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team
• Responsible for investigation, documenting accidents, areas of concern, and making recommendations to all levels of staff to prevent future accidents
• Help lead the facility to meet its KPI’s and objective’s in regards to Health Safety and Environmental
• Complete environmental reporting required by federal and state regulatory requirements
• Maintain Knauf’ s compliance with hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations for assigned manufacturing facilities by making determinations regarding waste discarded and proper disposal thereof; maintain inventory and labeling of stored hazardous and universal waste; compile and submit special waste applications permits
• Maintain Knauf’ s compliance with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records by initiating the review process for all new chemicals coming into plants; arrange data entry and audit systems to maintain records
• Notify state agencies as required of any environmental events or non-compliances
• Manage the containment, removal and remediation of hazardous materials
• Monitors trends, performance and conditions within the plant to ensure that safety is not being compromised to meet deadlines within the facility
• Participate regularly in external events to ensure Knauf is aware of the latest in HSE practices
Qualifications

Education :
• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, Business or related field preferred

Experience:
• Minimum six (6) years of experience working with environmental regulatory issues
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing facility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety, occupational health and hazard communication
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits
• Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
