Description
The Admissions Office is responsible for enrolling students who contribute to and benefit from the mission of HWS. In support of this, the Director of Admissions, leads divisional priorities related to cultivating demand for enrollment at HWS in the prospective student marketplace, as indicated by key performance indicators (e.g. applications, campus visits, yield rates), as well as the selection of qualified candidates for enrollment. These functions include strategic recruitment planning, admission counseling, visit and event initiatives, and staff supervision. The Director helps build relationships with prospective students, school and independent counselors, and community-based organizations in addition to collaborating with faculty and staff in other departments on recruitment and admissions related matters.

Position Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Admissions Counseling
• As a member of the Enrollment Leadership team, directs the development, implementation and management of the admissions recruitment and regional marketing programs.
• Lead admission recruitment staff in the design, planning, and implementation of strategies customized to individual prospective students and their influencers.
• Monitor success of the admission recruitment team through reporting and related analysis and make adjustments as necessary to optimize success.
• Make presentations and represent HWS at events internally and externally (e.g., college fairs, high school visits, industry conferences), in an effort to promote the Colleges and encourage prospective students to apply for admission.
• Perform admission counseling efforts for assigned territory including recruitment travel and events and conducting interviews with prospective students to familiarize them with HWS and to assess their interests and goals.
• Oversee the Visitor Experience program including day visits and special events, such as Open Houses.

Budgeting and Staff Hiring and Supervision
• Oversee the hiring and development of assigned staff - including annual performance dialogues to support professional growth.
• Train, supervise, and develop staff members focused on admission counseling and relationship cultivation at the individual level.
• Manage departmental budgets for assigned budget lines.

Institutional Citizenship and Professional Development
• Maintain strong knowledge of HWS' programs, offerings, and resources.
• Collaborate with staff colleagues, especially in financial aid and marketing, on cross-office efforts to meet enrollment goals.
• Serve as project manager for admission initiatives/relationships as assigned.
• Serve on institutional committees/task forces.
• Keep up to date with enrollment management trends by reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations and educational/training opportunities.
• Perform similarly related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive admissions experience required, with higher education admissions preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience managing and directing a professional staff with demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment.
• Advanced knowledge and use of Slate preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with, and respond to concerns of, diverse student groups.
• Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Strong understanding of the issues and challenges of a tuition-dependent, high cost private education.
• Strong understanding of and appreciation for the strategic use of financial aid in enrollment management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills and highly organized.

Description
The Hobart and William Smith Diving Coach is responsible for assisting with the organization and management of the competitive NCAA Division III men's and women's swimming and diving teams.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Coaching
• teach student-athletes all related principles and rules of the sport
• assist in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of practice and meet plans
• operate digital platforms to develop training, practice and meet plans
• maintain an exemplary standard of conduct, which reflects the highest level of professionalism and good judgment
• be knowledgeable of and compliant with all institutional, department, NCAA and conference policies, rules and regulations

Counseling and Advisement of Student-Athletes
• develop and maintain effective communication with student-athletes
• reinforce academic success as a priority
• encourage student-athletes to foster a positive relationship with faculty, deans and staff
• Perform the requirements as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. §1092 (f) (Clery Act).

Recruiting
• effectively recruit prospective student-athletes under the direction of the head coach and consistent with the Colleges' mission
• maintain the sport-specific recruiting electronic database
• recruit student-athletes who coincide with the academic profile of HWS students
• maintain open communication with other Hobart and William Smith coaches regarding shared prospects

Professional Development
• maintain active membership in professional sport organizations
• pursue formal and informal educational opportunities
• participate in department seminars

Community Engagement/Fundraising
• promote the sport and Hobart and William Smith Athletics in area communities
• maintain a positive relationship with interested constituents (e.g. youth groups, civic organizations, media)
• assist in the planning and management of fundraising activities
• develop a positive relationship with Hobart and William Smith alums and parents

Operational Team Responsibilities (approximately 30% of full-time responsibilities)

Other Information

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of four years diving and/or coaching diving experience at the college-level required.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong potential to teach, lead and counsel college student-athletes and have enthusiasm for the recruiting duties of the position.
• The candidate must be a person of integrity, high ethical standards, have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and mission of HWS Athletics.

Other Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
