Position Summary

The initial appointment for both ranks is for three years. Lecturers are then reviewed for annual reappointment until they are considered for promotion to Senior Lecturer and long-term contracts (typically in the sixth year); Senior Lecturers are eligible for long-term contracts after the initial contract period. These positions are intended to be long-term; there is a promotion track, through the rank of Senior Lecturer, followed by Teaching Professor. Assistant Technical Director - Scenic Studio Supervisor - Academic Specialist

Indiana University Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance is seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Assistant Technical Director - Scenic Studio Supervisor for a full-time, 12-month position. Requires excellent technical and problem-solving skills to contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and graduate students within the Technical Direction and Scenic Design programs as established by the faculty program heads. Additionally, under the supervision of the faculty technical director, coordinates technical and production details as required for all productions. Works in collaboration with the Prop and Paint Supervisor managing undergraduate employees and MFA-candidate students in the building, painting, prop acquisition, installation, and load-out of theatrical scenery for all department productions. Requires day-to-day operational leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and is expected to share a commitment to academic theater and the mission of the department. Position Duties and Responsibilities Include:
1. Manage, train, and mentor students in a hands-on work environment during afternoon shop hours
2. Provide rough and finish carpentry guidance/training to students during the construction of scenic elements for productions
3. Day-to-day supervision/training of MFA candidates in scenic technology and scenic design as well as any undergraduates in BA and BFA (non-technology/design) degrees hired as employees within the production environment
4. Serve as a primary point person for graduate and undergraduate students during the making and execution of theatre, dance, and musical theatre productions
5. Adherence to all occupational health and safety standards
6. Cultivate a production environment of trust by upholding high standards of communication that models best practices in professionalism
7. Collaborate with faculty to strengthen, through example and supervision, a positive and healthy studio environment
8. Monitoring quality and execution of work completed by graduate and undergraduate students
9. Organization, maintenance, and upkeep of the scenic studio, theatres, tools, and storage locations
10. Maintain budget and procurement of building materials during the builds of the productions
11. Teaching responsibilities of one-class (grad level) per academic year as determined by the scenic technology program head

Job Summary

IU Dining Stores Representatives are a key part of the production process as they receive shipments of product from vendors, and work with production managers to store product and manage inventory to control food costs.
General Responsibilities
• Receives incoming shipments of goods and materials. Unloads trucks and accepts items based upon quantity, quality and condition. Monitors inventory. Enters data into computerized inventory system. Recognizes items and materials that require special handling or storage requirements and treats with appropriate care (perishable, volatile, toxic, etc.).
• Stores goods in designated areas; rotates stock according to shelf life, expiration dates, lot numbers or other criteria. Gathers goods and materials from inventory locations as specified by pick list or requisition. Secures items on pallet or other container for shipment. Reconciles quantities of collected goods and materials with requisition or pick list; transports to dock and loads truck.
• Unloads and loads trucks manually or by operating a power fork lift, rotates stock and moves other bulky and/or heavy items in warehouse. Performs inventory counts; participates in monitoring facilities and in maintaining building security. May staff a customer service counter and respond to customer requests. May use University vehicle to make deliveries and pick up materials. Performs routine maintenance and makes minor repairs to equipment as necessary.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate. It involves remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time as well as moving around the work environment. The position requires moving and assembling objects and placing objects on high and low shelving units and storage racks. The role requires the ability to detect details of objects and the ability to move objects weighing 20-50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Monday - Friday with alternating weekends.
