What will you be doing?

As a Field Technician, you will be representing DISH in customers' homes daily. We build our value by simplifying lives and using the DISH install to consult homeowners on their infinite smart home possibilities.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

All technicians must have:
• Aptitude to build rapport quickly. We want you to have a great time servicing our clients
• Ability to work at heights, including ladders up to 40 feet, and in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift over 70 lbs
• A valid driver's license in the state you are seeking employment with a driving record that meets DISH's safety standard
• Travel may be required

Compensation: $25.00/Hour

Position Summary:

Internet Install Technicians visit residential, small business and enterprise level locations to troubleshoot, repair and install all Sonic internet connectivity and phone services.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly... position. Occasionally, overtime is necessary to deliver outstanding customer service.

Travel:

Travel is expected for this position. A company gas card and vehicle will be supplied. Gas cards are expected to be used on individually assigned company vehicles only.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and Install all Sonic internet connectivity and phone services.
• Have proficient understanding of dispatch and workflow software.
• Receive communication of locations and duties from dispatch software and/or personnel.
• Able to responsibly handle company issued vehicles, tools and credit cards.
• Abide by all safety procedures and report accidents/injuries to supervisor immediately.
• Maintain correct insurance paperwork and vehicle records on person or in vehicle.
• Maintain an active California state driver's license.
• Driver has been licensed for more than 3 years.
• Maintain a clean driving record as defined by the current Sonic fleet insurance underwriter.
• Able to lift 65lbs.
• Communicate effectively with all Sonic workgroups.
• Ensure all scheduled visits are completed by end of day.
• Willingness to work overtime.

About the Role

Our research team has access to massive volumes of unmatched data collected from some of the largest enterprise and public networks in the world. While your time at ThousandEyes as an intern might be limited, your impact will be immense! You will be paired with and mentored by a full-time researcher on one of the many exciting ongoing projects we have, with direct impact on our product!

As part of the research team, you will innovate, design, and develop new algorithms to improve the inference schemes within the ThousandEyes product, and will work with world class engineering and product teams to take your innovations from proof of concept to production and be used by some of the largest networks in the world.

Requirements
• Working towards a PhD in Computer Science (we will consider strong master’s students with research experience demonstrated through publications)
• Strong understanding of networking and internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, HTTP, etc.)
• Knowledge of and experience with IP geolocation techniques is a plus
• Existing portfolio of network measurement projects (publication and/or course projects)
• Expert in Python
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL (e.g., Mongo, Hadoop)
• Great written, verbal, and persuasive communication skills
