Job Summary:

The VP Human Resources is responsible for leading the talent acquisition and talent retention business functions that allow ISSA to grow and scale in accordance with company plans and objectives. The role creates and delivers progressive and innovative people programs backed by meaningful data, supporting ISSA’s ability to find, attract, acquire and retain high performance individuals. The role manages a team to deliver a wide range of employee-centered services. Effective leadership in this role results in ISSA earning Best Places to Work awards, consistently high employee satisfaction scores, and outstanding retention rates, while ensuring strong employee efficiency and value creation for the company stakeholders.

Responsibilities and duties:

The VP of Human Resources reports to the Chief Executive Officer, and is the single point of accountability for the following:
• Talent Acquisition and Talent Retention: Manage recruiting and retention strategies that meet core business needs on a consistent basis. Ensure hiring quality, type and timing map to ISSA’s corporate plan. Deliver best-in-class employee service throughout the employment lifecycle of every ISSA team member.
• Talent Management: Ensure organizational changes are aligned with effective communication plans. Lead the organizational strategy on learning and development goals and outcomes. Deliver career path guidance and develop organizational succession planning.
• Total Rewards Strategy and Delivery: Research and report on market compensation data for all ISSA roles. Design salary and variable compensation programs aimed at supporting achievement of company goals. Ensure effective management and delivery of benefit programs. Establish and implement effective reward and recognition programs.
• People Programs: Develop meaningful People programs, policies, and standards that support key ISSA goals and achieve high levels of team engagement. Continually identify opportunities to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction while creating the operational programs to consistently provide and support those opportunities.
• Performance Management: Develop, implement, and oversee company wide performance management programs, including annual OKRs and goal setting, regular performance reviews, 1:1 and team meeting expectations, and compensation strategy and structure.
• Value Creation: Ongoing identification and suggestions of ways to increase employee efficiency and effectiveness, while finding the most cost effective way to deliver amazing service to our students and programs, with the goal of increasing company value for our stakeholders.
• People Operations Management: Lead the People Operations team with effective coaching, KPIs and stretch goal management, training opportunities, regular 1:1 check-ins, and professional development plans. Manage 3rd party partners and consultants in the on-time/on-budget delivery of payroll/benefits/additional services.

What is ISSA looking for:
• 7+ years progressive management experience in a People Operations leadership role, preferably in an educational environment, with at least 4+ years directly managing teams
• 2+ years in a startup or fast growth environment
• Experience with both call-center teams as well as professionals preferred
• Proven experience building, implementing and scaling People Operations programs
• Demonstrated experience cultivating amazing company cultures
• Strong focus on data, and understanding of core business functional areas, including Finance, Marketing, Sales and Technology
• Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of pertinent laws and compliance issues across a multi-state employee base
• Strong skill base in managing employee relations issues and related legal matters
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment
• Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively
• Proven ability to create and deliver corporate presentations
• PHR or SPHR Certification preferred
