What your job will be like

The SRF OPS Chemistry Technician serves in the Cavity Production Chemistry Group and will be responsible for the completion of moderately complex tasks such as preparation of cavities and associated components before assembly, welding, and/or testing. Come and join our team!

In this role you will
• Responsible for the organization and quality of their own work.
• Frequently assigned multiple tasks and accomplishes them simultaneously.
• Plans their own work for short term and intermediate assignments and can coordinate work with others in the group. Work alone or in collaboration with others in a fast-paced, low-volume production or R&D environment.
• Complete tasks of moderate complexity and provide general operations support for all chemistry group processing activities.
• Document work performed using manual and electronic log books. Interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present conclusions.
• Participate in the cleaning of cavity and cryomodule components using ultra high vacuum ultra-sonic cleaning techniques.
• Operate a High-Pressure Rinsing tool in a clean room environment.
• Participate in the cleaning of cryomodule components using ultra high vacuum ultra-sonic cleaning techniques and high pressure rinsing.
• Participate in chemical cleaning and acid etching such as buffered chemical polish (BCP), and electro-polish (EP) treatment activities; hands-on operation of the chemistry facilities.
• Operation of small overhead cranes and automated lifting systems.
• Basic mechanical assembly skills using hand tools.

Qualifications We Require

Education
• High School Graduate*

Experience
• 5 years relevant experience*
• or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Able to identify schedule conflicts within the group and provide solutions.
• Demonstrates intermediate skills, knowledge and ability in one work station within the Chemistry work center.
• Knowledge of theory, development, and execution of techniques used for UHV cleaning.
• Basic skills, knowledge and ability in other work stations within the Chemistry and Cavity Assembly work centers.

The Conference & Event Specialist is responsible for a wide range of activities, led by the Conference Manager, to support meetings and events hosted by Jefferson Lab. In this role, you will be required to communicate details effectively with our internal customers to execute events and ensure a flawless Return on Investment (ROI). • Work with the group's LOC during conferences and workshops to manage attendance, visitor registration, collect payments, organize conference handout materials, and take meeting minutes regarding event discussions.
• Manage catering logistics, including staffing, setup, budgeting, ordering and payments.
• Create standardized conference websites using the website content management system (Drupal), and registration pages based upon group needs.
• Maintain and update all training materials on hosting meetings on-site and virtually and providing training to those impacted.

Qualifications We Require

Education

What your job will be like:
As a DC Power Electronics Technician in the DC power group, you will work with the design, construction, and maintenance of power converters from a few hundred watts up to 1MW continuous power, with embedded controls for remote operations. The DC Power Group is also involved in providing services to experimental Halls and other R&D groups in support of their power converter systems.
In this role, you will:
• Follow verbal and written guidance to diagnose, repair and calibrate analog and digital electronics modules down to the component level

The Project Services and Support Office (PSSO) Manager plays a crucial role in advancing Jefferson Lab’s record of excellence in project management. Projects range in duration from months to 10 years and in value from $100k to over $500M. What your job will be like:

Hall D is one of 4 experimental halls at Jefferson Lab. It uses a high-intensity broadband linearly polarized photon beam with energies up to 12 GeV. Several experiments have finished data taking and data is being analyzed:

· Experiment GlueX-I (the 1-st stage) has accumulated the world’s largest photoproduction data with a linear polarized beam in the given energy range. While the main focus is the search for hybrid mesons, other topics are also vigorously studied. The next stage of GlueX (GlueX-II) includes an enhanced PID based on Detector of Internally Reflected Cherenkov light (DIRC) and has collected about 30% of the planned data set.

· Experiments using the Primakoff process (two-photon interaction): A finished experiment CPP/NPP will measure the polarizability of pions, another experiment PrimeX-eta currently running to completion will measure the two-photon coupling of eta mesons.

· Experiment SRC/CT is studying short-range correlations and color transparency in nuclei.

In this Role You Will:
• Support the calibration process with the detector systems
• Process large data sets, analyzing the data, and obtaining physics results
• Support hardware projects, namely the new electromagnetic calorimeter, DIRC detector operations, and a Transition Radiation Detector based on GEMs.
• Take part in developing new experimental ideas, along with the staff scientists and the user community

What your job will be like:
As a Facilities HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for coordinating and completing assigned preventative and corrective maintenance tasks associated with real property assets. When required, you will also be assigned to perform complex troubleshooting tasks to determine repair strategies and provide oversite to subcontracted services. Responsibilities will also include identifying and procuring required maintenance materials and coordinating preventive/corrective tasks with building occupants

In this role, you will:
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of the following mechanical equipment; chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, heat exchangers, heat pumps, air conditioning equipment, vacuum pumps, filtration, gaseous distribution systems, control devices, etc. as well as electrical systems at the lab.
• Respond to assigned “complex” corrective maintenance tasks to assess the failure and provide repair strategies.
• Manage work orders that are assigned; including daily updates
• Resolve issues at lowest level with associates, subcontractors, lab personnel and other Facilities Management and Logistics personnel
• Respond to emergency after-hours/weekend/holiday issues regarding Facilities Mechanical systems

Qualifications We Require:

Education:
• High School Diploma

Experience:
• 9 years of experience in HVAC systems, or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• In-depth familiarity with standard industrial/environmental and safety practices necessary.
• Computing skills as a minimum to include: verifying operation and settings through building automation systems, obtaining work tasks and recording work performed using computerized work management systems, tracking and recording data through the use of spreadsheets, checking in/out tools and materials, and timesheets.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Demonstrated expert level of knowledge and experience in industrial/commercial mechanical and HVAC operation, maintenance, and construction.
• Ability to troubleshoot (knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at the component and systems level), develop repair strategies, communicate to management and affected room and building owners the schedules and impacts associated with the preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical systems
• Proficient in the use of tools and equipment of the mechanical and HVAC trade.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the International Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fuel Gas Codes. Must be able to implement this knowledge into daily work tasks with limited general direction.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
• Interacts with others in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance

Qualifications We Require:
• A HVAC master’s license is required (must be willing to acquire the license within a year of employee).
• An Electrical master’s license is desired.
• EPA Certified Refrigerant Handler – Universal is required
• Certification to operate forklifts and man lifts desired
• Certification to work in confined space desired
• Current valid driver’s license
