Do you have a background in statistical modelling of flow cytometry data ? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities? This is a short term, part-time 3 month contract at 40% FTE to perform extensive flow cytometry data acquisition based on 4 pre-defined panels(lymphocyte, T-cells, B-cells and Th17 cells), followed by flow-data analysis and... merging results with clinical data towards statistical modelling of trajectory as well as using logistic regression, multivariate outcome prediction for response to drug towards a deadline for a clinical trial.

No training can be provided due to shortness of contract.

Role

The Hull York Medical School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Clinical Anatomy to join the Centre for Anatomical and Human Sciences (CAHS). Covering a period of maternity leave, t he post-holder will contribute to the delivery and development of clinical and applied topographical human anatomy teaching and learning opportunities, whilst also creating, curating, and delivering teaching for our undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MSc) portfolios. The role will be based in the Hull York Medical School Anatomy facilities at the University of Hull, but the post-holder will deliver teaching on both the York and Hull sites.

Background and Context

Hull York Medical School is a different kind of Medical School . The joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York, we have a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting, contemporary schools . Our innovative curriculum and focus on problem-based learning and early and sustained clinical exposure ensures that students on our MBBS programme develop the problem-solving, analytical and communication skills and resilience needed to deliver a high standard of care to people with complex needs and from a variety of backgrounds .

Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Anatomical and Human Sciences (CAHS), the role holder will enhance the Centre’s academic team and advance the strategic development of the Centre; actively contributing to the development, delivery, and quality assurance of existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at both the University of Hull and University of York campuses. The role holder will also a) take responsibility for aspects of delivery in the breadth of undergraduate and postgraduate clinical anatomy teaching, including CPD courses in clinical and applied anatomy, and b) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

The successful candidate will have an MSc in an anatomy-focused discipline , a track record of hands-on teaching of human gross anatomy using cadaveric materials , and a real passion for fostering and facilitating learning. Experience in designing and delivering educational programmes to health professionals is desirable . The role holder will benefit from strong active collegiate support within CAHS and the Medical School’s Health Professions Education Unit to develop their anatomy/education-related research and scholarship aspirations, and the opportunity to draw on our strong collaborative links with clinicians, academics and clinical academics at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust , and the University of Hull Faculty of Health Sciences .

The role 

We are looking to recruit several Associate Lecturers in the area of Electronic Communication Theory, in the School of Computing and Communication at the Open University. 

The position is part-time (0.0576 – 0.0749 FTE) and would involve teaching one or more modules. In particular, there are immediate teaching needs on TM355 Communications Technology (Level 3 undergraduate)

The position is home-based and has no fixed core hours. It is permanent, with a probation period of two years. The annual salary and workload are fixed, but there are significant workload peaks and troughs, mainly linked to providing marking and assessment feedback. This is likely to include exam and end of module marking tasks. Other tasks will be required such as focused student support (individual and forum), such as peer mentoring and working with the module team on assessment activities and quality improvement. Some evening and weekend work will be required. The appropriate level of FTE will be discussed at interview, and there is the possibility of increasing the FTE later. The starting full-time salary is £36,333 paid pro rata based on your FTE. Although most of the teaching occurs between October and June, the position is paid over the full calendar year.

To ensure they remain up to date with developments in their academic field, Associate Lecturers are allocated 6 days (pro-rata) per annum for AL-led (ie. self-directed) Academic Currency and 1 day, plus 5 days pro rata, per annum for Agreed Academic Currency and Professional Development.

Benefits include a supportive and friendly working environment, 27 days holiday per annum (pro rata) with variable (pro rata) Bank holidays and an attractive pensions proposition.

Hull York Medical School has been training Physician Associates (PA’s) since 2016. Our students undertake an intensive two-year Masters (MSc) Programme in Physician Associate (PA) Studies to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum, published by the General Medical Council. You will be able to contribute to the supervision of PhD and undergraduate students in the research group and actively participate in ongoing international collaborations with other academic, clinical and industrial research partners.

In this flexible and dynamic role, you will generate highly impactful research at the interface between research and clinical translation.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking candidates with a good Honours degree in Physics or Engineering (or equivalent) and a PhD in MRI Physics / Engineering (or equivalent). Candidates should ideally have practical experience in proton and / or non-proton spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging, but those with relevant experience in other areas of MR Physics will also be considered.

This role involves MR acquisition methodology development, so previous experience in pulse sequence programming (ideally in the GE EPIC environment) and familiarity with RF coils would be advantageous.

A proven track record of high-quality scientific publications and demonstrated evidence in working in a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Previous experience in assisting the supervision of PhD students and technical staff is desirable.

The Role

-Organising and taking minutes at committees/working groups/formal meetings.

-Being an active member of ITE programme committees and Ofsted working groups, alongside departmental and professional services meetings.

-Offering explanations on procedures relating to programmes, assessment and quality assurance as required

-Collating, storing and processing data relating to student grades, attendance monitoring, retention information and placement data in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), University procedures and Ofsted regulations, in order for it to be interpreted by the Head of Department, Director of Partnership and Programme Leaders.

-Being an effective and collaborative member of the School of Education’s professional services team.
