As part of the Kabbage American Express Database Operations team, you are working to keep our databases resilient, scalable, and secure.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Delivering solutions for optimum availability, reliability, and scalability of our database infrastructure using automation.
• Meet stakeholder SLAs/SLOs for all solutions delivered.
• Integrate with other technology teams to build world class solutions.
• Maintain and enhance comprehensive Operational Visibility that alerts and informs the right people at the right time of potential issues.
• Protect valuable and sensitive data by working with Security Operations to detect, audit, and remediate security concerns.
• Write, review, and release code according to standards.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotations, incident response, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing with the team.
• Increase efficiency by automating routine tasks.
Minimum qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience and proven track record and knowledge of building, managing, and troubleshooting database solutions like SQL Server 2019 and open source (PostgreSQL or MySQL) in the cloud (RDS, EC2) or On-prem.
• Experience working as a reliability engineer, software engineer, or systems engineer with an emphasis in data.
• Experience in building, maintaining, and improving data solutions in a cloud environment (preferably AWS)
• Proficient with coding and scripting solutions on platforms like AWS, Windows, Linux (PowerShell Core, Python, C#, T-SQL, AWS CLI)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with orchestration technologies (SSIS, Airflow, Bamboo) is a plus.
• Familiarity with the following is a plus:
• DataDog
• Splunk
• SQLSentry
• Terraform
Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

Your mission:
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a group of ~7 Activation Specialist whose main objective is to get customers to utilize a specific product. In this Cloud Engineer role, you will be part of a talented team responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available Cloud based Services within our Hybrid based platform-as-a-service (PaaS), while also gaining experience and getting exposure to many other open source products as required.
Your primary responsibilities will be to develop technical solutions to enhance the American Express Hybrid Cloud platform, with a focus on building automation for highly scalable cloud services delivery.
• Collaborate with the rest of the API engineering team, the UI engineering team, quality engineering tam and product management to build scalable high performant quality API and Orchestration solutions.

Preferably a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience with any Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Private Cloud)
• 6+ years of experience in developing REST APIs using Google’s GoLang and/or Java.
• 6+ years of experience with any cloud engineering, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Openshift, Docker etc.
