As a member of the Environmental Health Services Division, On-site Sewage System (OSS) program, you will work on vacant parcels and existing homes to help property owners ensure proper wastewater treatment and safe drinking water. You will conduct permit processing, education, inspection and compliance, technical assistance, and regulatory compliance advice to the public, on-site sewage and real estate industries.

Minimum Qualifications
• Registered Sanitarian certificate from the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) or the Washington State Environmental Health Association (WSBRS) is required within 12 months of hire into this position.
• Have earned 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college credit in basic science coursework. Basic sciences include life sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, or health sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, soil science, and toxicology).
• Proficiency with software programs, including Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook), and ability to quickly master Envision database, Bluebeam Software, OnlineRME, and performance management system.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Desired Qualifications
• Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Sanitarian within one year of appointment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the King County government, its mandates and functions, and familiarity with the regional and local policy issues and challenges that affect King County.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Communications Team handles calls from unincorporated King County, twelve cities, Metro Transit Police, King County Airport Police, and King County Animal Control. Over half a million people rely on our call receivers, dispatchers, and other personnel.

911 Call Receivers complete a comprehensive training program during the first year of employment. This includes classroom training and extensive on-the-job training. After 18 months, Call Receivers will receive additional required training to advance to Dispatcher.

Dispatchers use telephones and radios to provide critical information and communicate directly with and support deputies in the field. As a King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) 911 Dispatcher, you will handle law enforcement calls only. Requests for fire or EMS assistance are immediately transferred to other agencies.

Call Receiver Salary is $30.33– $36.67 hourly
Dispatcher Salary is $39.37 – $43.29 hourly

General job duties are as listed but not limited to the following:
• Receive, prioritize, and route emergency and non-emergency calls (such as citizen concerns or complaints) from the public, transfer calls and calls received directly from other agencies.
• Enter non-emergent caller's information and dispatches according to priority or transfer/refer to the appropriate agency. Gather information from calling parties and enters the type, location, source and all information for emergency calls into Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.
• Triage emergency requests for assistance. Relay pertinent information between responders via radio.
• Assign emergency response priority by determining whether immediate response could save lives or prevent crimes.
• Route calls for assistance to the correct Dispatcher or appropriate agency, communicate with emergency agencies.
• Retrieve information from State and National computer networks regarding wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles, restraining orders, criminal histories, parolees and other related information; relay information to officers in the field
• Manage multiple radio frequencies and radio communications simultaneously
• Communicate effectively with confused, upset, hostile, or distraught people by phone, while gathering the information necessary to send the correct responders and equipment to the scene.
• Communication center employees may hear and need to respond to graphic descriptions of violence and/or injury.
• Record information and maintain required logs, event cards and other forms during periods of computer aided dispatch down time.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrate a minimum of one (1) year experience providing a high level of customer service and aptitude and skills to perform the primary duties, including attention to detail and the ability to contextually shift from task to task is essential to the position, including:
• Strong organization, flexibility, and ability to control personal emotional responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• A Communications Specialist is considered an "essential employee," meaning they are required to work holidays, report for duty during adverse weather conditions, and be expected to work for long hours exceeding normally scheduled shifts in case of emergencies.
• The position is sedentary with periods of high levels of stress.
• This work requires use vocal communications, using a clear, audible tone of voice
• Incumbent must be able to hear clearly and discern a variety of audible communications and signals simultaneously.

The successful candidate will:
• Directly support programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations at the regional treatment plants and satellite facilities.

• Analyze and evaluate data for assigned research projects and technical systems, access program models and prepare summary reports.

Other Position Information:
This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, normally between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position will be working from 20 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week depending on school schedule. This position is not represented.

The work associated with this position will primarily be remote with time in office as needed.

Metro Transit's Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Link Light Rail service on a 24.7 mile route from south of Sea-Tac Airport to Northgate. Work Schedule

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and/or replace running rails, restraining rails, fasteners, switch components, crossings, and all other components associated with track maintenance and construction.
• Operate service vehicles, small cranes and other vehicles used in track maintenance and inspection.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience maintaining or constructing railroad tracks and associated structures OR Twelve months experience working in King County's Rail Division's Track & ROW Workgroup OR Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the needed skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work. Additional qualifications include:
• Demonstrated experience operating rail and crane equipment.
• Knowledge of and skill in track and structures maintenance work for rail systems.
• Knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards, APTA Standards, FTA Standards and AREMA standards for Rail Transit Track Inspection and Maintenance.
• Knowledge of associated hardware, manuals, procedures, parts catalogs and other pertinent documentation.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures including working with small cranes and lifting equipment such as track jacks, tie tongs, and rail tongs.
• Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and drawings.
• Skill in oral and written communication including reading, writing and following instructions.

Desirable Qualifications (not required)
• Knowledge of Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS), Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS) or equivalent maintenance work order tracking system.
• Ability to operate radio and telephone communication systems in compliance with FTA regulations and procedures.
• Railroad welding experience with stick (SMAW), wire feed (GMAW) welding process, exothermic welding including experience with Manganese steel and the ability to obtain and maintain certification, if not currently certified.

Necessary Special Requirements
• Washington State Class A CDL (Commercial driver's license) with endorsements and the ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record. (Out-of- state candidates must obtain their Washington State license prior to hire.)
• Ability to obtain Hi-Rail, Forklift, Aerial Lift, First-Aid/CPR and other certifications within three months of hire date (training will be provided by Rail)

Physical Requirements

Work Schedule:

The work associated with these positions may occasionally be performed by telecommuting. The majority of the work will be onsite at a shared workspace. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities.) Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

As needed, the position may be deployed to other Public Health Centers and sites throughout King County and may be required to work outside of regular business hours which may include Saturday hours. This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and are overtime eligible. The candidates must have the ability to travel to sites throughout King County and drive a King County-issued car.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. • Promote breastfeeding as the optimal method of feeding among WIC participants.
• Provide basic breastfeeding information and encouragement, address concerns and establish rapport with assigned clients.
• Provide individual or group counseling for normal lactation management issues according to established protocols and approved resources.
• Address issues clients are most concerned about, help clients explore their barriers and visualize how breastfeeding can work for them.
• Promote breastfeeding as the optimal method of feeding among WIC participants, and as an important element in the health development of mother and baby.
• Provide basic breastfeeding information and encouragement, utilizing client-centered skills and following the USDA's Loving Support Model.
• Establish rapport and address breastfeeding concerns with assigned clients.
• Provide individual or group counseling for normal lactation management issues according to established protocols and approved resources.
• Refer clients for more intensive breastfeeding assistance when indicated, per established protocols and approved resources.
• Address issues clients are most concerned about.
• Help clients explore barriers to a successful breastfeeding experience.
• Assist clients in visualizing how breastfeeding can work for them.
• Maintain accurate records and chart notes of all client contacts.
• Follow agency procedures for making referrals and reporting child safety concerns.
• Previous personal breastfeeding experience of at least one infant exclusively for a minimum of six months
• Knowledge of basic breastfeeding methods and management of common problems
• Knowledge of basic breastfeeding physiology, anatomy, and counseling techniques
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality
• Ability to successfully demonstrate effective and professional cross-cultural communication skills in person and in writing
• Ability to adapt and adjust to needs of diverse clients
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to use computers and software programs necessary to the position
• Experience working with diverse populations
Desired qualifications:
• Current or past participation in the WIC program is preferred
• Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred

Licensing, Certification and Other Requirements:
• Valid Washington State Driver's License
• Completion of the "Loving Support" Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Training Program within one month of hire
• Some licenses, certifications and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the employing unit may be required

Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
