THE POSITION:
Positions allocable to this class work under the general supervision of an Assistant Library Administrator or Library Administrator, and are responsible for providing a vision, project planning and management, programming, and expertise for digitization projects.

Positions in this class must demonstrate awareness of local community trends and issues impacting the Library; be able to make presentations and provide individual and group instruction, exercise independent judgment in performing assignments; and exercise knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of librarianship. Incumbents must also possess specialized professional expertise in their particular area of assignment and use current technology to perform librarian duties. Supervisory positions must also exercise knowledge of the principles of supervision, terms and conditions of applicable Memoranda of Understanding, and departmental policies, rules, library locations, and services. As essential functions of the position, incumbents may be required to bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach, work on irregular surfaces, lift objects of moderate weight, and stand or walk for long periods of time.
Essential Job Functions

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
• Identifies and establishes funding sources for digitization projects, including collaborating in grant writing application and reporting.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures that facilitate acquisition, preservation, arrangement, description, and access to born-digital materials in accordance with emerging standards and best practices.
• Liaises and collaborates with other County departments to further library digitization initiatives and partnerships; acts as subject liaison in related areas, as needed.
• Supervises and assigns work to staff assisting with library digitization projects; provides functional supervision of library staff as required.
• Leads the library in keeping current with evolving cataloging and metadata standards as applied to digital objects; creates and revises local policies and procedures, documentation, and training accordingly. Recommends and assists with implementing metadata standards and workflows.
• Leads and coordinates efforts to manage, market, and improve the library's discovery and delivery platform (currently OCLC's CONTENTdm).
• Contributes to the digital scholarship community, which may include presenting at library conferences, developing articles for publications, participating in open source projects, etc.
• Maintains knowledge of current trends, developments, standards, best practices and technologies in the area of digital libraries.
• Conducts individual and may conduct group instruction in the proper use of Library technology and resources and the development of professional staff/succession planning.
• Research grant programs, write funding applications, and assist in coordinating activities of a grant program.
• Maintains records and prepares reports, as directed.

EXAMINATION CONTENT
The examination will consist of a structured video interview covering knowledge and understanding of the position, adaptability, interpersonal, supervisory, and oral communication skills weighted 100%.

Candidates must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each part of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

Reviews referrals and prioritizes cases for genetic counseling. Obtains detailed patient, family, and pregnancy histories to identify potential risk factors and inheritance patterns; analyzes all pertinent medical records; reviews medical genetics literature to develop a clinically appropriate counseling plan; and obtains and documents informed consent for procedures and tests. Counsels patients regarding the significance of genetic disorders, inheritance patterns, and recurrence risks for congenital anomalies and genetic disorders. Coordinates genetic testing, interprets the results, and communicates this information to the patient and referring clinician. Makes appropriate referrals to service agencies, parent support groups, and specialists. Prepares and maintains case documentation. Assists researchers in genetic program evaluation and genetic research evaluation, as well as grant writing and interaction with the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Provides education to the medical community and lay public on genetic disorders, congenital anomalies, prenatal diagnosis, and genetic screening. Responds to genetic inquiries from all hospital inpatient and relevant outpatient clinics, divisions, and departments. Under general direction, performs general screenings and produces basic radiographs of breast disorders on all age groups for patients in a clinic and performs other related work as required.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS :
Positions allocable to this class produce images of the breast by accurately positioning patient, breast, and armpit for screenings and basic radiographs of breast disorders using DBT machines. Positions operate mobile and stationary equipment within safe parameters specified by State law.

They produce quality breast images and communicate with the patient to obtain cooperation and relieve patient anxiety, and properly position patients to obtain optimal images of the breast. The Mammography Technologists report to a Supervising Mammography Technologist or a Supervising Radiologic Technologist II.
Depending on assignment, duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Receives and reviews physician's request for mammography procedure and identifies the patient per department policy.
Reviews brief breast health history and confirms correct study is ordered and performed.
Performs screening and diagnostic mammography.
Checks the operation of equipment daily and reports malfunction to a supervisor immediately.
Sets up examination room, materials, and equipment including selection of appropriate grids, collimators, and compression paddles specified in equipment and procedure manuals.
Operates mammographic and tomographic units.
Selects and computes machine settings to compensate for such variances as patient size, age, sex, implants, and tissue density.
Selects proper compression paddle, positions equipment at proper angle, and applies appropriate compression to breast.
Positions the patient accurately when the patient cannot be moved, deviates from basic positioning guidelines by angulating the X-ray tube and the detector to avoid injury, discomfort, pain, or intruding the sterile field.
Elicits the cooperation of patients by explaining the procedure and attempts to comfort those who fear mammographic examinations by providing assurance.
Evaluates patient's condition and applies immobilizing devices when the patient is unable to cooperate for proper positioning.
Uses equipment and lead shields, such as thyroid shields and aprons, in accordance with State requirements for radiation protection purposes.
Assists in the clinical training of new mammography technologists and students.
Orient new personnel to the mammography department as needed.
Processes and completes procedures in the electronic health record and the mammography reporting system.
Assists with patient tracking.
Verifies and confirms proper archiving of images in the Picture Archiving and Communication System.
Performs and documents quality control per Mammography Quality Standards Act requirements on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis and reports any malfunction or variation to the mammography manager, maintenance, or service provider.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (CRT) issued by the State of California, Department of
