Minimum requirements: Candidates must hold an unencumbered South Carolina registered nurse license with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. The Position: The Department of Art + Design at Lander University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, beginning August 15, 2023. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in graphic design, motion design, web design, and/or design history/theory, as well as mentoring individual senior exhibition projects and portfolio development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, web technology, UI/UX, and motion graphics. The candidate will actively engage in departmental, institutional, and professional service, student advising, and scholarly or creative activities. They must be an excellent communicator, a team player, and an effective leader who is able to collaborate with existing Art + Design faculty. In addition, they should be enthusiastic and willing to contribute to collaborative efforts in recruitment, retention, and overall departmental growth. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching excellence and able to work effectively with a diverse student population.

The Department: Lander University is proud to be NASAD accredited. The Department of Art + Design offers a BDes. in Graphic Design, a B.F.A. in Visual Art (2D and 3D), a B.A. in Visual Art, a B.A. in Visual Art – K-12 Teacher Certification, an M.F.A. in Visual Art (2D and 3D), and an M.A.T. in Visual Art – K-12 Teacher Certification. We seek candidates who will serve our current degree programs and help to develop new courses within the BDes program, related to their areas of specialization.

Requirements: Applicants must have earned a terminal degree (MFA or equivalent) in graphic design, visual communication and media, or related field, with a focus on user experience/web and interactive design, and research-based design methodologies. Applicants should also have experience teaching at the university level. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in experience design, branding, information graphics, and professional practice. Knowledge of web programming languages would be beneficial.
