Launchpad.net is a web-based platform for software development, collaboration and hosting. It provides tools for developers to collaborate on projects, track bugs, manage translations, and host code. It supports a wide variety of programming languages, including Python, C/C++, Java, and more. Launchpad also provides tools for release management, package building, code review and bug tracking. It also provides user authentication and access control, allowing developers to work securely on projects. It is an ideal platform for developing open source projects, allowing developers to collaborate in a secure environment.

LAUNCH ENGINEER II, LAUNCH PAD ENGINEERING...

The fluids and pad engineering team is responsible for all of the fluids systems necessary to launch our Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets including our liquid oxygen, RP-1 kerosene, helium, nitrogen, hydraulics, and air conditioning systems. As one of the launch pad engineers, you will be given significant autonomy over all aspects of one of the fluids systems. Key responsibilities include system design, analysis, implementation, activation, and sustainment planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with other engineers to increase system automation.
• Write procedures for system activation and maintenance.
• Select components, such as valves, pumps, piping, tanks, and filters, and provide detailed specifications for their purchase.
• Complete design and drafting of schematics (P&IDs).
• Interact with vendors and resolve technical warranty issues.
• Interact with other engineers to design the physical piping layout of the fluids systems.
• Assist with advanced troubleshooting.
• Own and perform all activation testing with a small team of engineers and technicians.
• Provide innovative solutions to problems while working with minimal supervision.
• Represent SpaceX by presenting certification packages and engineering data to U.S. government agencies including NASA, US Air Force and other DoD customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience within the last 5 years with fluid systems, hydraulics and/or HVAC systems.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master's degree in engineering.
• Self-starter that will seek out the solutions to technical problems with the local team along with the larger SpaceX workforce.
• Hands-on experience working with complex fluid or mechanical systems in a professional setting or outside the classroom project team.
• Demonstrated expertise in the design of propellant and gas systems.
• Experience modeling fluid system prior to construction.
• Experience troubleshooting systems utilizing remote operations and instrumentation feedback.
• Experience with fluid systems engineering, assembly, operation or test.
• Good written and oral communication; especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• General hands-on mechanical experience: automotive, robotics, rocketry, etc.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral.
• Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary.
• Work schedule may vary depending on site operational needs, and flexibility is required.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Launch Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. The Director of the Blackstone LaunchPad leads Syracuse
University’s innovation hub, and manage two tracks to help students
succeed:
• Entrepreneurship and venture creation, for those who want to
build and create, using rigorous methods of research, discovery,
and design thinking, based on both academic and experiential
frameworks, along with a roadmap development to help move ideas
from concept to commercialization.
• Intrapreneurship, for those who want to build personal skills
to pursue innovation careers, by teaching analysis, problem solving
and opportunity identification, collaboration and communication,
critical thinking, decision making, ethics, goal setting,
organization and planning, public speaking and presentations,
project management, perseverance and resilience, risk management,
team building, and vision and goal setting.

The LaunchPad Director will manage a collaborative space for
ideation activities, co-working and team meetings, workshops, and
classes; mentorship, including personalized coaching from an
expansive and diverse network of peers, alumni mentors, and subject
matter experts, and an Entrepreneur in Residence network offers
in-person and hybrid office hours with successful founders;
programming including demo days, talent recruitment fairs,
networking events, innovation challenges with leading companies,
idea festivals, and pitch competitions; and support for research
& discovery in such areas as design thinking and discovery,
lean startup methodology, grant applications, proposals, and
presentations. Pitch preparation for campus, state, national and
global events. Connections to acceleration programs and seed
investors, as well as follow-on funding for ideas that come from

Qualifications
• At least five years of experience running entrepreneurial
ecosystems and innovation communities.
• Familiarity with the Blackstone LaunchPad network through the
Blackstone Charitable Foundation.
• An innovative and collaborative thinker with a track record for
translating thinking into action; experience building and mentoring
teams.
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills,
self-reliant, results oriented, energetic and flexible, with the
ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Personal skills to help plan and scale growth, and effectively
communicate, with solid ideas about revenue generation and
fundraising activities to support existing program operations and
expansion.
• Demonstrated experience as an entrepreneur or mentor in a

• Empathetic and intuitive personal qualities to that foster a
positive environment and organizational culture that teaches
students hard and soft skills such as creativity and critical

• Someone who is excited about contributing to building a highly
networked and supportive, cross-disciplinary, and cross-cultural

Job Specific Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to
entrepreneurship and venture creation with two years of related
experience working in a startup environment (either with a
university innovation program, community incubator or accelerator,
or as a core team member of a startup venture)
• Experience in project management, delivery, and
evaluation.
• Experience in networking and working with diverse populations;
commitment to DEIA mission of the LaunchPad.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent
interpersonal, time management, problem solving and organizational
skills.
• Expertise in PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative, Word Press and
Page Builder, Microsoft Teams, and other communications tools and
platforms are high desirable.
• Proficiency in social media platforms, communications design,

Responsibilities
• Lead the development of the venture mentor and coach network
for student entrepreneurs – identify, recruit, and develop mentors,
coaches, speakers, and subject matter experts capable of supporting
the initiative. Provide venture consulting and referral services
for student entrepreneurs in the Blackstone LaunchPad.
• Develop collaborative and comprehensive engagement and outreach
strategies. Utilize networks in the external community, and curate
and connect enabling resources for students. Interface with the SU
on-campus innovation ecosystem and the national Blackstone
LaunchPad network. Develop internal and external campus
partnerships to broaden the program’s outreach while increasing the
program’s entrepreneurship resources. Engage external stakeholders
and resources.
• Responsible for overall program oversight and management.
Develop operational processes to soundly run the Blackstone
LaunchPad. Develop and execute a strategic plan.
• Responsible for budget oversight which includes managing an
operating budget, sponsored grants, and restricted accounts. Manage
Blackstone reporting. Other duties as assigned.
