LAUNCH ENGINEER II, LAUNCH PAD ENGINEERING...

The fluids and pad engineering team is responsible for all of the fluids systems necessary to launch our Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets including our liquid oxygen, RP-1 kerosene, helium, nitrogen, hydraulics, and air conditioning systems. As one of the launch pad engineers, you will be given significant autonomy over all aspects of one of the fluids systems. Key responsibilities include system design, analysis, implementation, activation, and sustainment planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with other engineers to increase system automation.
• Write procedures for system activation and maintenance.
• Select components, such as valves, pumps, piping, tanks, and filters, and provide detailed specifications for their purchase.
• Complete design and drafting of schematics (P&IDs).
• Interact with vendors and resolve technical warranty issues.
• Interact with other engineers to design the physical piping layout of the fluids systems.
• Assist with advanced troubleshooting.
• Own and perform all activation testing with a small team of engineers and technicians.
• Provide innovative solutions to problems while working with minimal supervision.
• Represent SpaceX by presenting certification packages and engineering data to U.S. government agencies including NASA, US Air Force and other DoD customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience within the last 5 years with fluid systems, hydraulics and/or HVAC systems.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master's degree in engineering.
• Self-starter that will seek out the solutions to technical problems with the local team along with the larger SpaceX workforce.
• Hands-on experience working with complex fluid or mechanical systems in a professional setting or outside the classroom project team.
• Demonstrated expertise in the design of propellant and gas systems.
• Experience modeling fluid system prior to construction.
• Experience troubleshooting systems utilizing remote operations and instrumentation feedback.
• Experience with fluid systems engineering, assembly, operation or test.
• Good written and oral communication; especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• General hands-on mechanical experience: automotive, robotics, rocketry, etc.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral.
• Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary.
• Work schedule may vary depending on site operational needs, and flexibility is required.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
• Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Launch Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.

The Director of the Blackstone LaunchPad leads Syracuse
University’s innovation hub, and manage two tracks to help students
succeed:
• Entrepreneurship and venture creation, for those who want to
build and create, using rigorous methods of research, discovery,
and design thinking, based on both academic and experiential
frameworks, along with a roadmap development to help move ideas
from concept to commercialization.
• Intrapreneurship, for those who want to build personal skills
to pursue innovation careers, by teaching analysis, problem solving
and opportunity identification, collaboration and communication,
critical thinking, decision making, ethics, goal setting,
organization and planning, public speaking and presentations,
project management, perseverance and resilience, risk management,
team building, and vision and goal setting.

The LaunchPad Director will manage a collaborative space for
ideation activities, co-working and team meetings, workshops, and
classes; mentorship, including personalized coaching from an
expansive and diverse network of peers, alumni mentors, and subject
matter experts, and an Entrepreneur in Residence network offers
in-person and hybrid office hours with successful founders;
programming including demo days, talent recruitment fairs,
networking events, innovation challenges with leading companies,
idea festivals, and pitch competitions; and support for research
& discovery in such areas as design thinking and discovery,
lean startup methodology, grant applications, proposals, and

• At least five years of experience running entrepreneurial

Job Specific Qualifications

for student entrepreneurs in the Blackstone LaunchPad.
• Develop collaborative and comprehensive engagement and outreach
strategies. Utilize networks in the external community, and curate
and connect enabling resources for students. Interface with the SU
on-campus innovation ecosystem and the national Blackstone
LaunchPad network. Develop internal and external campus
partnerships to broaden the program’s outreach while increasing the

LaunchPad. Develop and execute a strategic plan.
• Responsible for budget oversight which includes managing an

Position Summary

Seagen is seeking a highly motivated Supervisor, Cell Culture Drug Substance, that desires an opportunity to significantly contribute to the development and commercialization of transformative cancer therapies. The initial focus of this position will be to actively participate and contribute to the design, build, and operational startup of Seagen’s new cGMP manufacturing facility, “Project Launch Pad” being built in Everett, Washington, just North of Seattle. Launch Pad will be a greenfield build encompassing end-to-end manufacturing capabilities for biologics and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

Principal Responsibilities
• Supervise the execution of all upstream operations, including systematic pre-production walk down/checks, assemblies/cleaning/sterilization of equipment, preparation of solutions and media, cell culture and recover operations
• Taking active role in developing less experienced staff; providing coaching and mentoring; managing personnel performance review
• Creates and revises SOPs (standard operating procedures) and MBRs (master batch records) as appropriate
• Developing and maintaining operations schedule in conjunction with area manager and planning team
• Managing daily coordination of workload among team members; provides shift handover working directly with other supervisors; primary point-of-contact for the upstream area over assigned shift
• Developing and demonstrating proficiency in Quality Systems, including investigations, change control, and corrective/preventative actions
• Authoring/reviewing/improving manufacturing documents, technical reports, training documentation and validation documents as needed
• Developing and demonstrating proficiency in process automation and business quality systems and software
• Participate and support a culture of continual improvement. Effectively collaborate with cross functional partners such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and Facilities

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Life Sciences or Engineering, or associate degree preferably in Life Sciences or a technical program, or High School Diploma with Biotech certificate from an approved program desirable
• A minimum of 6+ years of experience operating in a cGMP biopharmaceutics manufacturing facility is desired
• 1-2+ years of leadership experience desired
• Must be able to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime as required. Applicant must be willing and able to work reliably on a flexible schedule, Monday – Friday and some weekends, to meet the demands of the project
• Demonstrated ability to lead manufacturing operations teams to achieve objectives; previous supervisory experience is desired
• Adaptable to a fast-paced dynamic business environment
• Experienced in large-scale cell culture and recovery operations experience is essential; fermentation experience is a plus
• Good organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks
• Engages in and supports a culture of continual improvement; is attentive and approachable
• Demonstrated knowledge of cGMP regulations
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well on teams and cooperate across organization to solve problems
• Experience in preparing data for reports and presentations and some experience in technical report writing

Preferred Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline (life sciences / engineering)
